It's just as good in a smaller, more convenient travel-sized package. Except the package.

That depends. How many characters do you have waiting? Five or more you should probably do that first.

Oh man, I do that too. I have started and deleted so many characters. Only managed to actually finish the game three times, and two of those were mages, so still got a lot of possibilities to uncover.

Oh that reminds me, I want to do a run through with just my character and Zevran (using the ZevranASAP mod to get him after lothering). Can anyone recommend whether it's better to be a city elf or a dalish elf in terms of dialogue with Zevran? Either way it would be a male character.

i haven't completed my run with my dalish elf but so far i am very meh about the dialogue options between zevran and my elf! I would have thought they would have had more to talk about, tbh.

he does say a few things dalish-wise in the dalish camp but nothing impressive imo. they really could have added some interesting conversations but chose not to, sadly =/

i haven't played a city elf though, so dunno if it's different there.

As far as I can recall, city elves don't have any unique lines with Zevran.

Dalish elves have a couple, but nothing particularly noteworthy.

Edited to add: City elves get a unique line about the wedding if Zevran is with them upon returning to the Alienage. That's the only one I can remember.

Oh, I don't delete any of my characters. lol, I just make them and abanden them in their origins or at Ostegar until I'm ready to play them. I decided to make my MDN anyway. lol. I"ll get to actually playing them at some point. Most of my characters end up with Zev. I'm trying to play with at least a bit of variety.

I used to be really bad about starting characters and then abandoning them and starting over back when I played BG1 &2 and the original NWN series. Since NWN2 I have been better about finishing the game with the characters I have made. For DA I created my first 6 characters with the character creator and I have finished playthroughs on 4 of them (DE, CE, EM, HN) and just finished Lothering with my DC. My DN will be next. I have only finished Awakening with my DE so far - it's a good story but, no Zev :(.

City elves romancing Zevran get some unique lines. Dalish elves do not.

@EJ: <3 If you ever decide to play for the other team.... ;)

@CZ: dittoing MG. Very glad you stayed.

@Rhys: There really aren't any Zev-specific lines for a Dalish, but there are a number of other conversations in the game that vary slightly. It's an interesting perspective. I'm biased, though--five of nine characters I finished have been Dalish.

How do you manage to make it through the Dalish origin so many times?

OIC, half of the folks here are active posters on Alithread. No wonder, it's so quiet in here and they are reaching page 1000 in no time. Duh.

I <3 the Alithread ever since I learned about vagazzling there!  I'm still trying to think WHY someone would do such a thing, but hell, it never would have occurred to me that such a thing existed without them!

second edit: omg, so posted without thinking again!

third edit: or is it vajazzling!  Whatever.  Geez, some people max their credit cards for the most interesting reasons!

Wow, that's impressive. Especially considering most people think of the Dalish origin as the worst of the bunch!

I'm really not sure why I go there so often given my dislike for the Alistair romance...

Metagaming. By realizing that there's NOTHING the DE could do to save Tamlen, it makes it easier to get through.

But it's just so...boring...five times? I'm impressed.

I think it's actually vajazzling, and ummm, probably not :?

Edit: Herr Uhl, close, but I think a good wax job would actually be necessary.  Have you ever heard of the kid clothing decorator "Bedazzler" or something like that?  Well, yeh.

It's not bad.

I find the HN origin the most boring and least compelling. 'Ooh, my father's best friend turns out to be a giant douchebag!' compared to 'I just lost my lover(because I'm sure those who play a DEM in this thread play Tamlen is their PC's lover), and will DIE a rather nasty, painful death if I don't leave behind the only people I've ever known and join a group of shemlan just to be "cured".'

My favorite origin is the DN and I can play it over and over again.

I do want to just play a mage origin through again as I think I missed some things the one time I went through it.

I have played the DE origin 5 or 6 times now myself. My two favorite origins are DE and CE(Female's more than male's), with Mage following a close third. HN is last on my list, with DC and DN tied for 4th.
