I find the HN origin the most boring and least compelling. 'Ooh, my father's best friend turns out to be a giant douchebag!' compared to 'I just lost my lover(because I'm sure those who play a DEM in this thread play Tamlen is their PC's lover), and will DIE a rather nasty, painful death if I don't leave behind the only people I've ever known and join a group of shemlan just to be "cured".'

Are you kidding me?  Tamlen's as dumb as a rock, no way my PCs are doing him.

I know, right...It was times like that that I wish I had more options. Like, punch a moron in the head ability...If I tell you not to touch the creepy mirror that seems to be 'moving' DONT TOUCH THE MIRROR, you moron.  After the punch to the head, when he woke up and I wasnt there, he could of touched it all he wanted...*snicker*. I'd be with Feneral if any, he seems bright(er)......Image IPB

The HN Origins, couldnt you just tell Howe was up to something. I mean, hello? Then, your getting a little something something that night and dont hear the fighting until the dog wakes you up? Yeah, theres a raid on your castle, your getting laid and cant hear the screams of people dying, the fighting..ect. THEN, the person your banging is stupid enough to open the door? What idiot decided that.. Dont put clothes on first, dont arm up...oh thats right, you dont hear people dying...Your Sister in Law and Nephew only a room away and you dont hear them die?..Interesting. Then you never go looking for your Brother, who the hell cares if Morrigan thinks he is dead, you do as I say or you leave the party...who wouldnt go looking for their sibling...but he just happens to show up at the end, still alive. *rolls eyes*

So, lets get into the CE Origin...Some ass wants to come and rape you and your party members, at least for the females. I could of kicked his ass at least 90 different times before they even knocked me out. Your supposed to be some sort of superior fighter, theres only 3 of them....a city full of your people...hrm. How about, kill them..feed the corpses to the starving dogs and pretend nothing happened, period.

Of course I am sure we all could find faults in all of the Origins..but I guess the good thing coming out of getting screwed in each of the Origins is finding Zevran!...at least until you wake up on the street in Awakenings...*smirk*

Nah, the only thing wrong with Tamlen is that the story wasn't fleshed out. Hmm.. flesh... maybe he needs a kiss option...

That is his only saving grace. It's kind of like Cammen, more would ruin the entire game.

they really rushed the Dalish origins, seemed so half-assed. I had to read up on all the lore from the wiki page as nothing was explained in the beginning.

Oh, I dont know. The Dalish origin just seems weird to me. I love playing a Dalish but not being able to find out anything about your companion, or who you are, or what you are doing, until you end up in battle seems like a movie teaser/preview rather than an adventure that helps you get into your skin, if you know what I mean.

If the about-to-be Warden has a thing going for Tamlen its not exactly made clear. Unlike Gorim, for example, where theres a mini romance happening and your warden can feel something for him. Every Origin has someone in it for the new Warden to care about, whether its parents, cousins, siblings, lover, or whatever. But not the Dalish.

The first time I played it I got to Ostagar and wondered who the heck my warden was. It didn't help that I didn't have high enough coercion to learn the backstory. I really feel that origin was rushed through without a lot of thought.

when you are in the cave you can talk to Tamlen. one of female options for why you are there is so you can be together...by saying that some of the conversations you have with others in the origin will be slightly different.

Ahahaha, all the random naked Zevran clones. Awesome. XD

Origin-wise I've done the origin story for mage, city elf (female, there's a very slight diff), human noble, and dwarf commoner. I've done CE multiple times, between my archer chick who I finished both games with and Alleyana. I've done the mage one a few times too, though it's a weird origin... the Fade is way more awesome than running around in the Tower, IMO, although I like all the weird little decisions like if you should betray Jowan (I did on my first game, as I was playing Raistlin) and such.

Human noble did nothing for me, CE did "fight in a noble's estate" better, I feel, or perhaps I'm just biased since I like CEs so much. It didn't do as good a job making the whole thing tragic as CE did about Shianni and Nelaros, and even Nola -- the chick who gets gutted right in front of you. The last part where you leave your parents was well-done, and Gilmore was well-done, but... eh, I'm biased. :P Also, the anatomy is worse on the humans.

Dwarf commoner was fun, I wish Shasta would upload. She's my next highest-level next to the CE who beat both games, and was almost done when I decided to write IO based off ideas I got while playing Shasta (sword and board tank) and created Alley in-game. I'll probably make a dude DC as my next rogue.

The reason I keep starting new characters is mostly because I hit Ostagar and then stop. I haaaate Ostagar. The Wilds, mostly, with the stupid side-quests I always feel like I have to do since I didn't notice them on my first game. The Tower is alright, but the Wilds... sdfesdftweg I hate it. Lothering is boring too, but quick.

And then you get to pick what order to do crap in, and you have Zev~ (yay ZevranASAP!) and it's all good from there, haha.

I still need to try a Dalish and a Dwarf Noble. Right now my faves are City Elf > Dwarf Commoner > Mage (I can at least get into my character somewhat in it, unlike HN) > Human Noble.

*drops two cents* :3

Hah, yes.  Van took every opportunity to point out Tamlen's stupidity to him in the origin.  But then, once Van developed his own backstory in my head, he was always the one paying for Tamlen's idiocy.  Who's the bigger idiot, the idiot or the guy who enables his stupidity?

And this doesn't happen with a male dalish? I wondered why so many people write about Tamlen as a romance. I've only played a Ther(i)on so far and heard nothing in the conversation that hinted they were anything but friends. I stopped playing him after getting Zevran early with the mod and going to the dalish camp since there seemed to be so few origin specific conversations, but from the discussion here it seems I missed a few things.

no, it's a female only option. I was going to have my male dalish elf do that on one run and realized it didn't have that option.

Wait, so if you try to set up Tamlen as a love interest (I didn't take that path, whatever it was..), it changes some of the other interactions? Whoa. XD I may have to go back and take a look at that.

I did want to smack Tamlen for being a dummy, but my chica didn't dislike him for that.. I assumed he was supposed to be the impulsive type. "Let's go see that cave!" "Uh, shouldn't we tell someone?" "Noooo let's go nooowww"... silly boy.

I can't decide if I feel like the Dalish origin is rushed or not -- but is it just me, or does Duncan come off as a bit of a douche? At least, a lot more so than the CE, HN or mage origins? :| I guess in the other origins, he's saving your ass, but for the DE, it can just feel like he's pulling you away unwillingly.

Haven't played any dorfs yet, but I think my preferences in origins so far is CE(M) -> Mage == DE -> HN.

(Heh, Ostagar is a big stoppage for me, too, Ostagar + Lothering... my HN's never left Ostagar, took me quite a while to push my DEF out of Lothering, and I rebooted my mage back to Lothering and he's still there at the moment. Kill your own damn bears, bandits and bugs, people! :P )

Ten hour mark, finally tweaked the expressions. Made Zev look gleefully evil, I'm hoping. And quirked one of Alley's eyebrows and thinned her lips a little. I need to bump her mouth up a hair to accomodate that, but yeah.

Same disclaimer as before; Zev's thumb is missing until I draw the end of the braid his hand's holding, and his other hand needs re-drawing. I think I will be putting in on Alley's head, like he was moving her head a little while talking through her braid. Which is what the eyebrow-raise is for.

Not looking forward to doing the design on his damn elbow-pad. It's revenge for waiting so long to draw the last one, I know it!

I'm the same way about Lothering. It's quick but it makes me lose all of my motivation...

Glad to see I'm not the only one who got all twitterpated when my dwarven noble found out Gorim had moved on. But then, there was this handsome elf, and....

My DN couldn't bring herself to be comforted by anyone who didn't happen to be a dwarf, my HM was such a horrbly shallow and self-absorbed persn none of the LI wanted anything to do with her, and my HN would rather be Queen but my DE, CE, EM, and DC certanly helped recover from their Origins that way.

I don't know, when he says 'if you become a GW you will be cured' I took that to mean 'it's the only way to save your life' and in some of the other origins it's really not like you have anything bette to do. HN, on the other hand? You need to find your brother and worry about dealing wtih Howe's treachery and Duncan could have helped you escape easily without making your unwilling, dying father promise to make you a GW. That seriously pissed me off and made my HN my second-least dedicated Warden to date (my DC just reallly had nothing better to do and only stuck around in Ferelden because the plot demanded it) so she quit the minute the Blight ended.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever managed to RP a dedicated Warden. Probably because once the Blight is over they really aren't needed and Duncan's job sounds thankless and boring.

Here's the first.  Shale is HOT!
