So he'll think Shale as a girl dwarf is hot but doesn't even notice when I'm a girl dwarf? Some people...

I also thought Duncan was far worse in the HN origin, he was pretty much saying "join us or I will leave you and your mother to die." At least the dalish one was already dying. My female HN never got along well with Alistair since she hated Duncan after that.

I've played all origins except think DN is the best origin story followed by CE but I prefer to play mage since that could have been so much better if they put more thought into it.

I tried writing him earlier and all I could manage was this sad, drunk clown :(

when you are in the cave you can talk to Tamlen. one of female options for why you are there is so you can be together...by saying that some of the conversations you have with others in the origin will be slightly different.

Wait, so if you try to set up Tamlen as a love interest (I didn't take that path, whatever it was..), it changes some of the other interactions? Whoa. XD I may have to go back and take a look at that.

I did want to smack Tamlen for being a dummy, but my chica didn't dislike him for that.. I assumed he was supposed to be the impulsive type. "Let's go see that cave!" "Uh, shouldn't we tell someone?" "Noooo let's go nooowww"... silly boy.

I can't decide if I feel like the Dalish origin is rushed or not -- but is it just me, or does Duncan come off as a bit of a douche? At least, a lot more so than the CE, HN or mage origins? :| I guess in the other origins, he's saving your ass, but for the DE, it can just feel like he's pulling you away unwillingly.

Haven't played any dorfs yet, but I think my preferences in origins so far is CE(M) -> Mage == DE -> HN.

(Heh, Ostagar is a big stoppage for me, too, Ostagar + Lothering... my HN's never left Ostagar, took me quite a while to push my DEF out of Lothering, and I rebooted my mage back to Lothering and he's still there at the moment. Kill your own damn bears, bandits and bugs, people! :P )

Yes, but not a lot. I just remember one or two comments. sort of like...well..we know that you and Tamlen are really close.. that kind of thing.

and yes, he is sooo stupid. tha's one of the reasons my girl does fall for Zev and get's over her school girl like crush on Tamlen

I find the HN origin the most boring and least compelling. 'Ooh, my father's best friend turns out to be a giant douchebag!' compared to 'I just lost my lover(because I'm sure those who play a DEM in this thread play Tamlen is their PC's lover), and will DIE a rather nasty, painful death if I don't leave behind the only people I've ever known and join a group of shemlan just to be "cured".'

I guess you can put it like that, but making big point out of losing your lover in one scenario while brushing over losing your whole family in the other as "friend of your father turns out to be a douchebag" comes across rather disingenuous and/or biased. It certainly doesn't provide full picture of what actually happens.

Not to mention you could wish to die a nasty, painful death at the hands of Howe's men rather than leave your mother and dying father behind.

The HN origin is evil and terrible. I'm not biased because I can't figure out how to write something not boring for my Duncanless version.

Now the Dalish ... I figure it was the shortest, sure, but to me it had the most interesting possibilities. To me it was, frankly, cool. You go and explore a cave which turns out to be ruins, see all these freaky things that you flex your bad assery at and kill. Then when some centuries old magical artifact tries to kill you, you're like o HELL naw, and get back up. Now despite being "mostly dead" (which we all learned about quite nicely in Princess Bride, so I won't go into detail about) you truck yourself back to this cave. Seeing a darkspawn/the exertion of killing it makes you pale, but you truck on. Because you're bad ass.

Now, here's where it derails. Instead of some cool, poetic, "you're already Joined! Master it, and be stronger!" thing, you still have to go through the railroaded Joining Ceremony. Something way cooler could have been done with all that.

Regrettably I wasn't sure what that "way cooler" thing was, without getting too loose with canon, so even I eventually railroaded into a Joining Ceremony for Artana... But, the possibilities were there!

I didn't like much of the origin but that scene was touching (not the rat oneImage IPB) and during the good-bye scene with Fergus I was like 'No fair! Why do humans get to be noble and still have an actual family?!?!' so I guess there might have bee just a little metagaming involved... Image IPB

I must admit, that while the Dalish origin seems the weakest to me, it does make the PC look like a true hard ass.

ejoslin: Interesting stuff!

*sigh* At least the same actor voiced my favorite Gargoyles character...  And has some of the best dialogue in thisseries.

Although Charsen looks like "I didn't do it!" on this picture, he is the one who chose and pasted the avatars :) Random choice is random, I wouldn't dare to interpret if it means anything, lol

lol, i love the random zevrans! and sneaky you with the kisses. hahaha Mina you're hilarious.

and yeah the heads were chosen pretty much by "whose avatar is facing the right direction to make this work" and sort of by gender though i ran out of spots for girls since girl-headed avatars on the thread >> girls in trek.

if anyone doesn't know who they are, original [TNG] [TOS]....

*isn't a trekkie really just a fan who happens to live in the town officially declared to be the future birthplace of james t. kirk by coincidence*

He would almost have to be.

And new theory: Oghren found a really bad stash of alcohol and until he manages to consume it all he's going to be suffering all the ill-effects of it.

He actually had a few acute observations going through Origins. Which he lacked in Awakenings.

He lacked everything in Awakenings. I actually wondered if Gaider had written him for it. That was just... "Wut?"
