Anyway.  Can't have the Alithread catching up.

This makes me happy:

Thank you, Charsen.

This means that I'll have to get all the different races and sexes to the gates to see all the Loghain kisses.   I think I will have to go back and play my original dwarf (my avatar) from the Landsmeet, so that she can kiss Loghain.   She had a thing about him right from the moment she saw him at Ostagar.   She would have spared him, but she owed Alistair a favour.   Damn you, Alistair.

Meanwhile, my elf, in the picture, now has three gatekisses - Morrigan, Loghain and Zevran in that order.  In fact, if he picks them all for the last battle, he gets to snog his whole party!  Which he completely would do.

I love the Loghain kiss.    I don't even know if it's OOC.  He thinks he's going to die anyway, and I can see him thinking 'what the hell;.   It's so funny when my elf tries to talk to him afterwards and he doesn't mention it.   Doesn't everybody kiss their leader before a fight?  Isn't that the custom?

Loghain gate kisses? WANT Image IPBImage IPB

I usually have to make my own kisses for him

That's lovely, Phaonica.  :)

Incidentally, what do people think was going on with Ser Cauthrien?    There's obviously something going on, even if it's just mutual respect and hero worship.  I can easily see some unrequited love on her part.  Perhaps a little bit requited, even?  But was there an actual affair, do you think?

If I remember her codex right, I got the idea that Loghain is at least very impressed by her. And since the PC doesn't interact with her much, what she does say sounds like hero worship. It seems like Loghain would be more likely to be close to someone he's been with during times of war and not peace, because he's more likely to think that the person he's with understands him. At least, that is what I like to tell myself. Image IPB

See I'd rather hope Ser Cauthrien was actually made a ser of her own worth and not because Loghain banged her anbd gave her a pretty sword after. I know people like to read ~~~sexual tension~~~~ in that little arm grab he does at the retreat cutscene, but... Eh.

Why not, indeed? I don't know. If you have Loghain in your party, I don't think he mentions Cauthrien (does he?), so I don't get the impression that he's in love. When I've spared him I've also spared her, but they don't seem to continue a relationship.

I also get a kind of 'unrequited love' vibe off her, but I'm not sure about it. She doesn't need to love him or fancy him or even be straight/bi, to be enthralled by him.

I also get the feeling he has been celibate for some time. Doesn't he say something about thinking about his dead wife if he does the ritual?

They've been together for a long time, she earned her rank. I don't think that anything happened in the beginning, then she was just a kid IIRC.

I got that vibe too. I don't think that he were in a relationship, but he may have had some moment of weakness throughout the time that she was dead. And I don't think Cauthrien would object.

That's a lovely pose, Verly. It looks as if he's about to kiss her. I recognise that armour, but I can't think what one it is. He's wearing it in some of my screenshots.

@ Soignee I just had to persuade her again, when replaying the Landsmeet. She is suprisingly easy to persuade. She does have serious doubts about Loghain. There's the whole build up, questioning his sanity, and she seems to feel he's gone off the rails as well. But once you get him in the party, he seems pretty sane.

@ Herr Uhl Well, if it's not just me, then I'm going to go with that vibe.

He does seem to be different when he's in the party. He's in a completely different situation, and seems relaxed about being led rather than leading. It's interesting. I can see romance cropping up for him at that point. Maybe.

The rest of this page made me throw up a little--I don't care how awesome Loghain is/was, I find no excuse for his wahrgarble in the game (though I'd like to spare him, he did earn that).  He's also creepy-fugly, so seeing him snogging Wardens is fairly traumatic.  ::assumes a position to protect face from impending beatdown::
I agree about Cauthrien, though--Loghain doesn't seem the sort to value a person for anything but their merits.  Cauthrien got where she is because she's good, not because of her womanly assets, and I think Loghain would stand for nothing less.

Then I saw this and I got better.   I agree about the pose--very nice composition, a lot of emotion implied in it.

I don't think such a self-made man like Loghain who so clearly resents that the nobles have so much power and have, by and large, done nothing to deserve it would give an undeserving girl knighthood because she's good in bed. If they did sleep together - which I doubt but she may have had a thing for him - then that was a seperate thing from her skill.

I agree. But if he was having an affair with somebody, it would be Cauthrien, I think. I just don't think he was.

@Tell What's wahrgarble? I think he looks fine, although I can see how he could be seen as ugly. That thin, down-turned mouth. It looks like he'd struggle to smile. But he's kind of goodlooking, I think. And a bit closer to my age. Although Zevran is closer to my boyfriend's age! (See, I said Zevran, so it's on topic).

I hazard a guess it's more a character trait than physical appearance trait.  *runs away--busy!*

@ Herr Uhl Yes, we are! There's quite a big age gap, but not much of a maturity gap. You're as young as the man you feel, I say.

You're not even over 30. So for you to become a cradlerobber you'd have to actually rob cradles.

Unless you are a 56-year old cab driver from Wigan that is.

I think Loghain's goodlooking, too, but in kind of an acquired taste way. Sometimes it's about an attitude and an understanding. I didn't think Zevran was attractive at first, either.
