Hey, soignee, I just thought of something: wouldn't the story trafficking let you know EXACTLY how many people are reading? Well, except when it goes down for half a freaking month...
idk how to work it out, so I just sort of poke it once in awhile and wander off. I don't know the difference between hits and visitors.
May Stats: For the month of 2010-05, there have been a total of
5,200 Hits and 1,844 Visitors to all of your stories.
Apparently? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN. I AM CONFUSE.
The hits is the number of times someone has gone to a chapter in your story so if one person read all eighteen chapters of Missa's story it would register as 18 hits and 1 visitor. Clicking on the hits number of multi-chapter stories breaks it down further and lets you know that a certain chapter has been clicked on so many times. I find the first chapters usually have the highest because say someone clicked on the link in your signature even though they were on chapter nine. The link would bring them to the first chapter adding a hit to that count and then they'd go to chapter nine and add a hit there while they start reading.
The visitor count can be a little skewed, though, if you aren't logged in and read someone's stories from different computers. Like when I was stuck on campus between classes if I went to the library to read fanfiction but didn't bother logging in and I had to do this three times in one day from three different computers I would be counted as three different visitors.
That's easy enough, right?
