charsen, the issue with Morrigan is not the lip locking. Her last line is missing if you leave her behind... :P I should have mentioned it earlier I know...

Leliana's scene is different. The distance between the faces is noticeable and she is looking in the wrong direction. But I guess you already know that and you're doing your best. Sorry for pestering you. :D

Bah! Ok...What about the Denerim city gates dialogue? Is that bugged across all platforms as well (friendship lines instead of romance ones)? Because if it is...that might just be the breaking point for me to sell my PS3 copy and get the PC one instead.

Actually, it's an interesting dynamic when you don't have sex with him. The relationship still builds, and there's nothing casual about it in that case. His jealousy talk is way nicer, his royal scandal talk is far more loving, even his refusal to go to the tent is far more reassuring and he tries to make the warden realize it's HIM, not the warden. But unless you're using Dialog Tweaks, seriously, when you play that way it's best to never go to the tent because in the vanilla game, you get that "let's be casual" aftertalk no matter what, and it doesn't work after they're in a committed relationship.

Is there any difference to those dialogues (jealousy talk and tent refusal) if he's the one who propositions you the first time? (massage convo) Because that's what I'm gunning for.

Second edit: It's just that first conversation where he brings up the future and if they have a chance of having one.  I can see it if he's trying to figure out what's in store for his future.  He's ok with being told it will be nothing but sex in that conversation for sure, but if you don't go that way and have switched on the romance, he does want to know if the warden sees it as something that can continue afterwards.

Yeah, I like that last option. Either telling him "I could use a friend" or "you could go" both give intriguing responses to a GW who's either been playing it cool or is slightly suspicious of him still.

Dialog in Origins is REALLY bugged. I play on PC with ejoslin's fix and the difference between the game I get to play and the one my partner gets on xBox is really noticeable. The PC game is far superior to consoles once the bug fixes have been added.

Whether it's casual or committed -- the dialogs truly support both. What is constant is you have someone who has been taught that falling in love, that any attachment, is wrong. If the warden brings up love, Zevran will say it's impossible.

However, there are so many dialogs that support that he was falling in love from the start, including the discussion with Wynne when she apologizes.

You don't have to play it that way. You can definitely have it be casual, have it be FWB all the way until he falls in love and the dialogs support that. But since there is so much that supports it the other way as well, it something that I at least can't have strong feelings about it -- both are right.  But I still get the feeling no matter how hard he is trying to keep it casual, he was falling in love from the start.

Doesn't he actually say that at some point? I'm pretty sure I remember him saying that he knew from the time you spared his life that romance was going to happen (not just sex). I could be wrong but I haven't got access to the toolset to check atm.

Just another place where different dialogs support different reactions, I suppose.

In that very first dialog about what happens when the blight is over, he says something like, "What if I liked it here? What if we became fond of each other?"
Fond, of course, can mean love but can also mean close friendship. Either way, feelings are involved.

The different variants of the talks only are determined whether they have the "made love" flag or not.  There are some dialogs that don't fit if you don't have sex with him, though -- Wynne's relationship talk requires a little handwaving, as does one of his dialogs if you pick a certain answer (no way to fix either, unfortunately).  But especially the royal scandal talk -- if he's in love and they haven't had sex, what he says is so much nicer -- still, I usually have him and my warden get together after the proposition.  His voice there, wowza.

As far as I know, the Denerim gates dialog is bugged across all platforms.  All his bugs are.  He calls a female warden a man during his "had sex" jealousy talk about Leliana.  You don't get the earring if he offers it for the second time nor does the conversation end with the scripted kiss.  Most of his first time sexytime dialogs don't lead to the scripted kiss.  Etc etc.

I also like that dialog option as well, telling him he's free to go.  When he tells the warden they could grow fond of each other, yeh.

Edit: I want to add that Charsen's gatekiss alone is worth switching to the PC.  Here's a few links -- even if the dialog were fixed on the PS3 (and I don't believe it is), they don't even have the scripted kiss in there.  Much less anything like THIS!

He says that after sex if you ask him to the tent for the first time (yes, I must admit, I did test this before deciding to wait for him to ask instead). He doesn't mention anything about romance though, IIRC. He just says he knew "this" was going to happen. However you choose to define "this", although at that point, the obvious implication is sex.

Which convo option is that response for? Or is this with a male GW?

It comes up very early. It's the first time he asks about what the Warden plans for his future. There's several options, such as asking if his oath expires then, or telling him he would be free to go. He then comes back with comments about him perhaps not wanting to go.

BTW - if you are thinking about using a laptop, not a PC, check very carefully before buying the game. DA doesn't support laptops and many cannot run the game due to underpowered graphics. If your laptop has built-in graphics and doesn't have a separate graphics card you'll most likely be unable to play DA on it.

Oh, I know which convo it is, I'm just asking which one of the GW's choices prompts that response. I tried "I could use a friend", to which he replied "just a friend?"; and "you could go, if you wanted", to which he replied "could I? and what if I chose to stay?". Then when you say "why would you stay if you had the chance to go?", he replies "is there no one I might stay for?"

Err...I'm pretty sure it's a separate graphics card. How can I tell? (computer-illiterate person here) I can run other PC games on my laptop, if that's any indication (the Myst series, for example). Besides, a laptop is all I have, no desktop PC.

Second edit: putting it back in.  Gah, I'm terrible!

Zevran: I've a question, if I may. (he's been thinking about this for some time)
Warden: Go ahead.
Zevran: Well here is the thing: I swore an oath to serve you, yes? And I understand the quest you're on and this is all very fine and well. (he's getting to the point soon)
Zevran: My question pertains to what you intend to do with me once this business is over with. As a point of curiosity. (very interested in the answer to this)
Warden: Is this after I ravish you in celebration? (female pc, not in romance because I like this response)
Zevran: Now there's a thought. Normally I am the one doing the ravishing when it comes to comely lasses... I like it. (playful) (SET: APP_ZEVRAN_ROMANCE_ACTIVE)
Zevran: But you are also distracting me from the point. I said I would serve until you released me. (returning to serious business)
Zevran: One simply assumes that, once your Grey Warden business is finished, you would have no need of an assassin to follow you about. Am I wrong? (reasonable)
Warden: I'll not hold you to any oath. Leave whenever you like.
Zevran: Oh? I made the oath willingly, but if that's how you see it then all the better. For the moment it's still best I stay, considering my standing with the Crows. (pleased)
Zevran: But let's assume that I didn't desire to leave, when the time came. What then? (floating the idea) (IF: APP_ZEVRAN_ROMANCE_ACTIVE)
Warden: Why wouldn't you go, if you had the chance?
Zevran: It is difficult to say. Is there no one that I might stay for? (meaning the player)
Warden: I could always use a friend.
Zevran: Oh? Not more than friends? (pointed -- he's asking if they're lovers)
Warden: I'd like that.
Zevran: So would I, I should think. (hopeful)
Zevran: It is good to know what my options might be. But that is for another time. For now, we have much to do, yes? (cheerful)

If you don't turn the romance on before this point, the conversation can end like this:

Warden: Why wouldn't you go, if you had the chance?
Zevran: How should I know? I cannot see the future. What if I liked it here? What if we became fond of each other, hmm? Stranger things have happened. (amused)
Warden: I'm already quite fond of you.
Zevran: See? I knew I would grow on you. I have that effect. (playful, flirty)
Zevran: It is good to know what my options might be. But that is for another time. For now, we have much to do, yes? (cheerful)

Edit:  Got the toolset open too.  It never misbehaves for TOO long.  And FORMATTING!  Ugh to formatting.

ejoslin would know better than I, but in that dialog I avoided any mention of friendship so I wouldn't trigger any romance. I think I just responded with the "does your oath expire then... you could go if you wanted".

How old is your laptop? If its reasonably new, has plenty of RAM, and is running a newish operating system you *might* be able to play, IF your graphics runs from a separate card and that card is fast enough. Can you post your system specs here? I may be able to give more help if you do.

Ah yes, that's the difference right there then. I'd turned the romance on beforehand through some flirty joke, which is why I get slightly different options. Can't remember what it was I said, but I loved the chuckle he gave me in response. Might have been the "I can think of a few things" line, not sure.

It's a couple years old, running under Windows 7, with an NVIDIA card. I'll post the details later, gotta run for a bit.

I love those changes to the friendship dialog. That was a good call ejoslin -thanks!  I've been using the zevran_main fixes since you put them up.

It's interesting to see how redundant Dialog Tweaks is becoming. So many files from it are now being replaced with your DT compatible versions now. I'm currently running the combined romance mod too, just to provide something new for this playthrough (romancing then dumping Alistair).

Sshh... don't tell Charsen, but since your zevran_main fix was released I've deleted ZevRing. I always wanted the "real" ring :P

I use DT for two reasons -- the public kissing (I could implement it, but I'd never go through the work of the jealousy comments) and the version of the first time sex after they're in love. Oh, tent time would be reason three. Also, I will admit laziness of my Leliana fixes and didn't touch the things that were fixed by DT. I probably should, because not everyone uses DT. But I've noticed some changes in files that Bioware has actually fixed regarding her. Surprised me completely.

I like having the equipable ring, but I do understand just wanting it as a plot gift instead, much like Alistair's rose. I still can't believe that they left the scripted kiss out at the end of that conversation -- one of quite a few, not only the gates.

The ending of the romance was so rushed, it wouldn't surprise me if that whole thing was an oversight. The response there just makes no sense if in a romance; if starting one, it makes all the sense in the world. Also, it's a shame that so many people miss the friendship dialog there because of that; I find it very hard to believe that Zevran would offer to die for a friend but not have the same response to someone his lover who is openly admitting their feelings.

And Elps, you're welcome and thank you. You have been so much help on all of this!

What's most amazing to me about it?  That they couldn't even get that in as a plot device!  Some things I can almost understand, but how they missed that I have no clue.  Though I suppose it's not set up that gracefully to put it in, but it's not that difficult either.

The first time sexytime kisses, I think it was just laziness.  In Alistair's dlg, it says very clearly NOT to just copy the dialog line without the kisses.  Zevran's doesn't say that, BUT that dialog line does say that it should lead to a kiss.  My guess is someone saw that and tried to put the kisses beneath it and messed the whole thing up or something so just took them out instead of doing the obvious.  Or they tried to save the 1 minute it would take to do a proper copy/paste.

Am I ranting?  I suppose I am!  Just finishing up this one file!

Edit: I like the equippable ring.  Especially since it carries over to awakening.  So if I ever play awakening again, I'll have it

Yeah, those sexytime kisses are awful. working on Morrigan's sexytime kiss today actually. decided i should just get down to business today and finish up these mods now that my family visit is over and i have some time. at least some folks enjoy the kisses and the ring. can't please everyone, but the ones who aren't pleased can make their own mods.

Are you going to be making separate dwarf male and dwarf female kisses at some point?  I'm wondering if I should redo my fixes to this file to ensure compatibility if you do that, (assuming you'd just change the dm to df in the female versions -- I could set up a dummy file for that until you make yours).  I'm not even making b2bs of anything but the vanilla files, but fortunately it's one of those rare occasions I've taken good notes so the main hassle is actually loading the b2bs.

Edit: Sometimes you'd think I was a natural blonde.

yes -- the plan is to get those poor dwarves separated. right now i am going with the default gender for a dwarf kiss. so if it's Morrigan, the dwarf kiss is with a male in mind. then i can dupe it for a female and make tweaks later. if you expand the kiss tree i can just supply you with some cutscenes if you want?

edit back in:
i'm glad you like the kisses EJ. tbh i have had very little motivation for them. i don't mind the squee, i'm sure CZ will be ok with it, he rarely checks the zevthread anymore anyhow. =p

If you let me know how you're going to name the female ones, I can just spit the trees off and use a renamed copy of the default kiss if you don't have the separate ones. Hah, at least I can TRY (I may not be quite as good with this as I think I am). I feel like I'm ninja'ing your project a bit, though, so I can also just send you a copy of the changes I made to the file since I can't imagine you not tying this into ZevRing.

I do understand losing motivation. You know I went through that as well before saying f'it! Do it because it's fun.

Give CZ /hugs then! Gah, I do miss him :(

Charsen and EJ, your changes at the Gates (the dialogue and the kisses) are probably the reason I've kept playing the game. If I had to choose one mod, that would be it. I can't thank you both enough for that.

Zevring, I have mixed feelings about, purely because I have a different take on accepting the earring from most people (I don't think it's a 'lesser' option to accept it, so it bothers me that my characters get a 'lesser' ring). That's just my own personal concern and not a criticism of the mod, which I think is great.

So far as I understood it back in the day, dubcon/noncon only applies to actual sex, yes. Psychological torture would be "angst", usually, although my personal tag for anything that goes into psyche-cracking levels is "darkfic". Hence my calling myself a darkfic writer. I used to be known for cracking characters open and scooping out the psychological marrow, although I fear I've gotten rusty now. My one consolation is that I made people jump a bit at one of the main twists in TAF recently, so it hasn't gone away completely, at least.

"Darkfic" isn't really a widely-used term though. I started using it for my stuff so long ago it's just part of my personal dictionary. You'd probably stick with "angst", or "heavy angst", although "emotional torture" is descriptive enough to use in its own right. I'm not sure about other generally-used terms for it. Anything labeled "noncon" is going to be assumed to be rape, though. Unless I'm mistaken and the category has widened drastically over the years.

And the OP may have forgotten to subscribe to their own request, or didn't know how, or it got screwed up, and hasn't checked back. Or, like you said, they wandered off after something else and forgot. XD People do that, especially on there, from what I've seen while browsing for prompts. Mostly people offering to write it who never check back in, it looks like, but I imagine some OPs wander off as well...

Edit: Two different stories, there! One's the kink I'm refreshing my memory on the proper logistics of, and the other involves more templar goodness. The former is Tannu being all dom!face again, this time on Zevran, and the latter is pre-Origin and is probably going to be angsty and hurt/comfort-esque. Assuming I actually get the balls to write it. OH NOES, ALMOST-FLUFF, WHATEVER SHALL I DO?

The porn part of that one is definitely going to be of a different vibe than the other one/two. If I do it. I dunno. D:

*takes notes*

I need to learn a new vocabulary.

I had thought that although kink writing would have a sexual component purely because it's kink, there often might not be any actual sex in it.  I never thought of 'angst' being a kink.   I don't even know what you'd call that emotional torture in real life.  I  don't have a name for it!   Maybe it just all comes under power play.   I managed to avoid calling it anything in my prompt  (although I did use the word 'dark'), but the fills were definitely angsty.   So now I know.  Thank you for all your help.

ETA: Considering the nature of the prompt that I didn't get an answer for, I'm now wondering if the OP just put it up as a joke, and didn't expect it to be filled.  I was looking for what I thought were the less likely to be filled prompts ..., and maybe fell for it.  ;)

Two stories is better than one.  I will look forward to them!

I thought the earring was the same except for the "lucky" stat and the name? And "lucky" isn't implemented in the game, so the stats are actually identical.

Edit: cut off the rest of my editorial!  Maybe I'll just read for awhile!

yeah, they are both identical. And they are easy to change -- just make a ring you like and export it with the name of the rings in the mod. Copy the .utc file to your override and bam, your own ring. =)
