Elps' comments, particularly in light of past posts, were taken as a personal attack and a thinly veiled threat. The repeated sodomy references are pretty offensive. The term is inflammatory and the posts put all of us on the defensive.

That said, the heart of the post and the reason for the request (couched behind TOS and such) was that as a rape survivor, some of the images were triggering a bad reaction. You folks came rushing to defend me in another thread over a similar issue when a depiction of rape had me very rattled. I know I'm not the only one who frequents this thread who can relate to having a trauma brought back up in such a way. I can't even blame Elps for couching the request with a zillion other excuses. Most people don't like to announce that sort of thing, particularly when they are already feeling uncomfortable. And I think that angrily defensive came off as nastily aggressive for more than one person.

I know that the regulars on this thread aren't out to hurt someone in that way. The speed with which everyone hopped to my defense and supported me made that clear enough.

Zev doesn't generally draw in a very prim and proper lot. I would hate to see the pics disappear from the thread. For a long time, we all *were* more cautious about linking instead of embedding potentially NSFW pics and labeling them as such. Perhaps we should consider doing so again.

Yes, I often make no sense and I haven't slept in 4 days now and oh wow did the doc give me fun meds for the spider bite.

Yes, that's the main reason I deleted my pictures.  I've been away from the computer for a little while and have been thinking about this.

Elps, this is thread on an adult-only forum (I believe) about a character who is overtly sexual, bisexual and kinky.  Sex is part of the game.  It even leads to achievements.  It stands to reason that it's going to be discussed here. 

I agree with those who have objected to the word 'sodomy'.  I don't know if you used it purely so you could include oral and anal sex, but it is a loaded and outdated legal term for something rather nice that most of us, and our in-game characters, do.   Using it outside of a humorous sense is bound to get backs up.  (Don't get me started on sex laws.  But remember that gay men in particular have often been victimised by sex laws, so using those sort of terms can come across as homophobic too.  Just saying). 

I have a lot of sympathy if you found the pictures triggering, believe me.  There have been a few things in this thread that I've found disturbing in a personal way.  I started to post about them just now, but maybe I shouldn't ... I'm not being seriously upset or anything, although I might have been years ago.   But the thing is, I can see that the point of those things being posted isn't to disturb me (if anybody's wondering, it's not the porny pictures which have bothered me).   (And I've felt it from the other side too, when it feels as if people are judging me.) The good thing about the Fridays, is that if that's what bothers you, you know when to avoid the thread.   I'm not saying to be mean at all, just that it does make things easier, if you know you won't be seeing anything you don't want to on the other days of the week.

Abusive PMs are not on, of course.

Apart from that, it's a nice group of people here on the thread, nobody seeming to want to offend anybody, but we do have adult conversations.

This took me forever to write!  I bet I'll post it and the discussion has moved on to nugs or something.

I've had some pretty triggering things in this thread come up before, also. It can be construed as (self) victim blaming of me, but when rape discussions ON THE INTERNETS and in fandom communities come up I've learnt now That No Good Of It will come up and I have a tendancy to hide out in my bunker until it has gone away.

Now I'm not saying that everyone should do that, but I'm dealing with my demons better knowing that there's always going to be triggers and to remove yourself from the situation when it comes.

I know I don't post that much, but I've never been much of a talker. Still, I feel defensive of the people I like, even if they might not be friended. Sannox, Aroikin, Creature, Herr, CZ, and all the ones I DO have friended ... basically any of the names you can find once every fifth page or so. I read everything here, even if I don't comment, and I think that's fostered that attitude.

Long and short of it, since I have to go to work in like, three minutes (ago, lol, late), warm and fuzzy group hug for all. Hope no one was too upset by this (honestly, even the person who left) and much love to the Zevranites.

There's a line in the game about "none of us coming from happy lives" or something like that, and I tend to think of all people that way. Even if it's not in a cool fantasy setting, we're all champs who overcame something in our past. That's the best part of a community.

First off, this is an international forum and people should not assume that they way they use language is the only acceptable way. I used the word sodomy in relation to the image that was posted which showed anal intercourse. It is the correct legal term and socially correct descriptive term for anal intercourse in my world, and was not intended to offend anyone. Many people here use words and terms that are not socially acceptable in my corner of the world but I don't jump to conclusions that they were intended to offend. I just accept that we are not all from the same cultural or language backgrounds. 

I have never objected to adult themes or to most of what happens in this thread. However, I still don't see the need to post pornography here. Is it so hard to use links to NSFW material that you cannot be certain others want to see? Fridays now go from Thursday to Saturday and there is no way of knowing when to avoid this forum given the time differences and inclinations of others.

I was not the person who raised the subject of everyone getting banned. I responded to it. I was also not the only person who thought this week's images went too far (and I am not talking about rope art here). 

I came to this thread because I had an idea for a mod and wanted to see what people are discussing about the game. I kept following this thread because of the discussions about Zev bug fixes and mods. I contributed my professional expertise in the discussion about what happened over CZ's image and got some really nasty messages as a result. I assumed that its easier to pick out someone whose use of language is different, to make that person a target to throw unfounded accusations against. So what? I come from people who are used to being victimized. Now Charsen throws out those accusations again. 

Those accusations are false. If Bioware or EA take any action for breach of site rules or ToC it won't be because of me.

The message I received came from a regular poster in this thread. It was beyond disgusting, advocating violent sexual assault against me that has left me shaking for hours. 

So, no, I don't find this thread friendly or tolerant. I've been on EA forums for 4 years and other gaming forums for over a decade. I've never had any vitriolic messages until this thread. Apparently, there is no way to stop yourself from harassment on this forum. People can send the most horrific messages to others and will be warned, which of course alerts them to the fact that their message was reported. If more come in and you report them the person can be banned. And can immediately sign up again with another account. So I feel doubly victimized now as the only way I can stop messages is to remove my files and delete my account. Which I am doing. 

I hope the person responsible for that message enjoys their reprieve and that you all have fun with someone like that in your midst. 

I won't say much because it's unfair when you can't respond.  (Unless you start another account).

Briefly ...I do remember that you weren't the person who raised the subject in the first place.   A couple of us were talking about whether to remove the pictures beforehand.  My instincts also tell me that you weren't the person who reported that picture.   I've a feeling that whoever did that is keeping quiet.  'Sodomy' is normally a negative word (and not even precise for what you meant, because the legal meaning varies) and maybe just plain old 'sex' would have been better.  But I do appreciate language difficulties.

There isn't a need to post pornography.   It has just been a fun thing, in a thread that has gone on long past the point where the original question ('what's the romantic appeal of Zevran') was answered.  I don't mind either way - happy to stop, happy to continue.  I actually think that people have been very careful about what they've posted in this thread.  Anything which has crossed a line has been linked to, or edited.   We probably all have a different idea of where that line is, but it's not as if people haven't been trying to keep on the right side of it - hence the discussion about some pretty tame fetish photos before you posted.

I do want to be clear that I'm not condoning the abusive PM you got.   I think you did right to report it.  I can't speak for the other people on this thread, obviously, but I don't get the feeling that most people would support it at all.  So I'm still happy to be here with that person in our midst, because I don't think it reflects the view of the group.   I'm genuinely sorry that you got that PM and were so upset by it.  I feel bad for you and I feel bad for other people who have been upset by this business. 

(Which probably got blown up a bit, and I'm probably not helping by continuing to post ... I'll change the subject in a minute).
