I copy/pasted the longest path through the conversation here. There are a few PC options that simply bypass a couple of Zevran's lines, I left those out so that you could see all of Zevran's dialogue.
Zevran: There is a reason I accepted this mission in Ferelden, far away from home, and it had nothing to do with any thought that I might leave the Crows. Meeting you, after all, was quite an accident. (VO: reluctant to talk about this story)
Zevran: My last mission before this one... did not end well. (VO: grim, he is not eager to discuss it but feels he has to)
PC: Is this a story or a confession? (
Other possible PC responses "What happened?" and "It failed? Or something else?" here will skip Zevran's next line and move on to "You must realize...")
Zevran: I do not know. A little of both, perhaps? (VO: grim, sad)
Zevran: You must realize that until that day I was cocky and arrogant. I was the best Crow in Antiva, I believed, and I bragged of my conquests often... both as an assassin and lover. (VO: telling an unhappy story)
PC: You were
more cocky and arrogant? (
Other possible PC responses "And how have you changed"? and "And then what?" are available here and will skip Zevran's next line and move on to "One of the Crow masters...")
Zevran:
Chuckles Indeed. I was often told I was insufferable... right before I ended up in bed with someone. Such is how it was. (VO: amused but still laced with sadness)
Zevran: One of the Crow masters grew tired of my boasting. My bid for an incredibly difficult mark was accepted, much to my surprise: A wealthy merchant with many guards and completely silent. (VO: telling an unhappy story)
Zevran: Taliesen agreed to be part of my team, as well as an elven lass named Rinna. She was... a marvel. Tough, smooth, wicked. Eyes that gleamed like justice. Everything I thought I desired. (telling an unhappy story)
PC: "Uh-oh" or "I sense a tragic ending" or "And you fell in love." (
All 3 lines are options here. Your selection does not change Zevran's lines.)
Zevran: Rinna was special. I had closed off my heart, I thought, but she touched something within me. It frightened me. (VO: sad, perhaps even guilty)
Zevran: When Taliesen revealed to me that Rinna had accepted a bribe from the merchant, told him of our plan, I readily agreed that she needed to pay the price and allowed Taliesen to kill her. (VO: telling an unhappy story)
Zevran: Rinna begged me not to. On her knees, with tears in her eyes, she told me that she loved me and had not betrayed us. I laughed in her face and said that even if it were true, I didn't care. (VO: telling an unhappy story -- his heart is breaking a little bit at this point)
PC (option 1): That was utterly cruel.
Zevran: Yes. It was. (VO: sad)
PC (option 2): But that wasn't true.
Zevran: I convinced myself it was. (VO: sad)
Zevran: Taliesen cut her throat and I watched her bleed as she stared up at me. I spat on her for betraying the Crows. (VO: telling an unhappy story)
Zevran: When Taliesen and I finally assassinated the merchant we found the true source of his information. Rinna had not betrayed us after all. (VO: the end of his unhappy story -- shaking his head that he had done something so terrible to one he loved)
PC (option 1): You've said it yourself: Death happens.
Zevran: Yes. Death happens. (VO: sad, guilty)
PC (option 2): You had no way of knowing that.
Zevran: Of course not. I didn't care to know. (VO: bitter)
Zevran: I... wanted to tell the Crows what we had done, our mistake. Taliesen convinced me not to. He said it would be a foolish waste. So we reported that Rinna had died in the attempt. (VO: sad, guilty)
Zevran: We needn't have bothered. The Crows knew what we had done. The master who disliked me told me so to my face. He said the Crows knew... and they didn't care. And one day my turn would come. (VO: sad, guilty)
PC (option 1): One day it will.
Zevran: Of that I have no doubt at all. (VO: morose)
PC (option 2): Why would he do that?
Zevran: To rub it in my face, perhaps. That I was nothing. That she was nothing. (VO: sad, guilty)
PC (option 3): So you felt guilty?
Zevran: I felt empty. I felt as if I was nothing. I felt as if she had been nothing. (VO: sad, guilty)
Zevran: You once asked why I wanted to leave the Crows. In truth, what I wanted was to die. What better way than to throw myself at one of the fabled Grey Wardens? (VO: sad)
Zevran: And then... this happened. And here I am. (VO: sad, said with a shrug -- he had wanted to die but fate had a different plan)
PC (option 1): That is awful, Zevran. I'm so sorry.
Zevran: It... feels good to speak of it to someone. I swore I never would. (VO: sad but feeling better about it)
PC (option 2): Do you still want to die?
Zevran: No. What I want is to begin again. (VO: sad but feeling better about it)
PC: Why did you tell me this?
Zevran (if in romance): You have been a friend to me, and more. Far more than I deserve. (VO: sad but feeling better about it)
Zevran (if not in romance): You have been a friend to me. Far more than I deserved. (VO: sad but feeling better about it)
Zevran: Whatever it is I sought by leaving Antiva, I think I have found it. I owe you a great deal (VO: sad but warm)
(PC options "You owe me nothing", "You bet your ass you do" and "I'm glad to have you with me" are available here which skip the next exchange and jump to the end of the conversation)PC: I think I'm getting nauseous...
Zevran: A-ha! So finally the poison has taken effect! (VO: joking)
Zevran:
Laughs A joke, a joke! (VO: amused, laughing)
Zevran: Let us return to your mission, shall we? Suddenly I do not feel like standing about. (VO: shaking off his melancholy)
