What's the (Romantic) Appeal of Zevran?

Is it sad that I can Zevran squee all morning about something that's not even in the game? I had a conversation in my head between my HN and Zevran that finally gets them past the misunderstandings that have been plaguing their relationship. She's not very good at apologizing, but she actually opens up to him about her family's death, tells him that she trusts him now, and gets ready to bring him out of camp for the first time. It's actually surprisingly deep, considering I had no idea what kind of relationship they'd have, and I realize now just how strong of friends they are going to become by the end. Arg, but it's supposed to occur after Deep Roads, which I've yet to start, so I have to get through all that before getting to the good stuff (like being able to bring Zev along). =(
Speaking of which, I get the great pleasure of replaying all of Dust Town because stupid Shale decided to break on me... Ug, freaking DLC messing things up.
Oh, and last squee, the Ancient Elven Armor looks *amazing* on Zevran! It almost makes me glad to replay a bit since I just sold it off... I think I'll keep it for him for the final battle, sooo sexy!

As for interesting lines, well, you can read through the thread to find out about all sorts of them lol. But the best thing to do is just play around with dialogue. If you want, you can even save before conversations so you can try out different options to get all the responses. If you're not interested in saving/reloading, then just pick whatever options fit best with your character. Try dialogue options that question what he says without being too mean and you're almost guaranteed to get an interesting answer.

On an alternate note, I really have to compliment the writers on this game. I've played a lot of D and D type, fantasy role-playing games over the years (all the way back to paper and pencil days which tells more about my age than I like to think about!). While Bioware generally does a good job with developing their characters and their storyline, they outdid themselves with Dragon Age. The combination of humor and pathos, the interplay between the characters as you go trundling along down whatever path or road you're currently taking, and even the fact that there often isn't a "good" (as opposed to "evil") choice makes this probably the best RPG I've ever played. Zevran's character development exemplifies all of those qualities in the game. And when you have that kind of nuance in a character...how can you resist him?

Writing it out is fun even if you don't show anyone else.

Ah, and on the topic of Zev as the warden's equal... Oh yes... He had only just joined our party after Redcliff with Aemon still ill, and already Zev was plotting to put Alistair on the throne and serve in his court. I love the way that man thinks. And when Morrigan replied that Alistair is not the sort who would make use of an Assassin, Zevran pointed out aptly that someone else would be around to call the shots. He had it all figured out, eh? XD Dristen, in my mind, was smiling listening to that convo. And do bear in mind that this was my poor paraphrase of the convo... my memory is not as sharp as you lady's seems.

I'm another who can't get past sten's attitude towards mages. -__- After what he said when we spoke to the tower templars about cutting out their tongues being the civilized way of dealing with mages.. My Dristen can't forgive that. He switched Sten out for Alistair, who isn't nearly as slow and clumsy as sten, anyhow, and really regrets having saved sten. The only reason he keeps sten is out of responsibility. Sten murdered people. Now WTF do I do? I know my HN isn't going to save sten. Not after you ask him if he feels remorse and he only cares about his duty. Well, Howl's men only cared about their duty, too...

*grin* I think you have Morrigan and Zevran reversed in that dialog. Is this the one you're referring to?
Morrigan: Think of it, Zevran. you may have stumbled into a most delightful possibility for your future.
Zevran: Oh? Are you dispensing professional advice now?
Morrigan: It simply occurs to me that if, say, Alistair were to become king of Ferelden he may have need of someone of your... talents.
Zevran: From what I know of the fellow it seems there would be a fair difference between what he needed and what he cared to make use of.
Morrigan: If Alistair becomes king, it would certainly not be through any brilliance on his part. Whoever puts him there... now there's the one who will need you.
Zevran: Hmmm. Now that's an interesting thought. You've such a devious mind, my dear. Why have we not made love as of yet?
Morrigan: For what purpose? I would sooner stab you in the face than let you touch me, elf.
Zevran: And somehow that makes the idea even more intriguing...
Edit: Sten becomes far more interesting if you open up dialogs and talk to him. He has reasons he hates mages so much. Also, if you take him to the gauntlet, you learn that his killing the family weighs heavily on him. And he gives approval for that being revealed. But I can understand someone not liking Sten. But he is very deep as well -- I did learn to like him.
Second edit: I'm not sure how much Zevran actually thinks about his future -- he really does seem to take things one day at a time. But if you want some serious squee, take Zevran and Shale around for awhile. I love their dialogs so much!

Got him up to +100 adore today, and got the Dirty Poem right outside the Haven Chantry (I lol'ed considering the situation and material). I was pleasantly surprised at how I was pulled into deeper into the relationship. Honestly I had no temptation to at ALL to flirt with Alistair in this playthrough.
Of course, dear Sena was propsitioned at camp by Zevran, saying at the she looked too tense and that he could offer a massage that one learned only by growing up in a **** house. She questioned him if it was more then just a massage, he said it could be, and asked her if she still wanted it. She shyly said she did. Sena figured it was time to break free of another thing that shackled her in the tower, inhibitions. And who better then to guide her but the handsome elf who was quickly cementing himself in her heart.
And then...Sena HAD to talk to Wynne. And she seemed a lot more harsh about this relationship then all my other PC's who were with Alistair. Needless to say Wynne wasn't with the group when they did the Urn/Gauntlet.
And you ladies were right about Zevran in the fade.

Now tommorow I am going to start Orzammar, and after that onto WK, then Finally Redcliffe.

Yeah, he truly doesn't seem to be one to think too much on the future. Considerin, that every day may *actually* be his last (and you never know what is to come), it makes sense. It also makes the fact that he has to establish a future with the Warden so early on that much more amazing. Of all the things that could happen to him, that is the one that he needs some certainty on.
It's why I think he is falling in love with her (or him) from the beginning. I mean, you get that talk whether or not you're on the romance track, but the fact is, you get HUGE approval if you let him know you want him there in your future as more than a friend.
Gah, I love it that he needs to have an idea of what the Warden's intentions are before he'll lay a hand on her. That is the absolute opposite of Alistair, who doesn't even think of the future until after he's in love because he's so caught up in the moment.

@TripLight LOL, that poetry reading is something else, isn't it? Zevran is so awkward at trying to actually romance the Warden; he's reduced to really bad poetry that he knows is absolute crap. But what he says afterwards is so sweet -- he just wants to cheer her up. And the way he says, "such an unflattering expression for such a lovely face." Oh, squee. The skilled seducer is sounding just as embarrassed and awkward as any teenager talking to his first crush.
I have a confession, I squee'ed at the way he cleared his voice right before he started the poem:wub:. Then I had to reload and play it again, because I couldn't believe he was being awkward and so sweet. It was so satisfying.
My current HNF rogue...will end up being dumped by Alistair on a seperate save, and who knows, she might find her way to Zevran:whistle:

One time at least you have to have Zevran force you to make a choice. He goes out of his way to make it sound casual and not about him, until you call him on that. Then when you do choose him, his reaction . . . AHHHHH! It's why I romance Alistair or Leliana every playthrough. I'm so bad

Man, haven't been here since friday and there are like at least 5 more pages of stuff to catch up on!
I love Sten. If he was romanceable.....*oooh* He's usually up to 100% before Alistair or Zevran are even at interested.
I have cupcakes. Can I sub cupcakes for cookies? Swiss Meurigue (spelling!) buttercream frosting!!!!
Started a Dalish elf....it might be that it was after midnight by the time I went to bed, but the Dalish origin made me cry. Very touching.

why do dwarfs stand up on an invisible stall to have a make out session with Zevran yet when Baren was still in a relationship with the annoying french girl she would get down on one knee to give you a kiss
I want Zev to get on one knee to kiss my dwarf!
