Does anyone own the Prima Strategy Guide for Dragon Age? I'm looking for a bit more detail on Thedas at large and while I can schlep down to the local Best Buy to see if they have a copy, I'd rather just ask here. I assume the book version is the same as the one you can DL from Steam - so... does it have that sort of detail or is it wiki level type stuff that's in there?

I just flipped through my copy now. It has pictures and brief descriptions (like a paragraph) of most NPCs and the 'beasts' in the game, it has the stats on every weapon and armor in the game, what every merchant is selling for how much, details on every quest and random encounter in the game, far more than I'd care to know about the combat system, two pages on all of your companions including a description of their personality, their gifts, what causes their crisis moment, their pre-release art, a picture, how to romance/harden them if applicable, and personal quest, along with some trivia. There's also a really comprehensive step-by-step walkthrough and a map of Ferelden but I don't really see any information on Thedas at large that isn't available online here.

I thought it was pretty obvious I was being ironic with that response given that another poster basically told me to get lost and that I didn't belong posting in this thread because i didn't like Zevron. A different poster had already labled me a troll before that anyway.  Personally I don't see the appeal of sleazy unapologetic murderers but I do understand everyone has their own personal tastes.

It's just kind of a shame when people can't disagree about something as trivial as a fictional, digital character without resorting to name calling .

Truly, as it's just a work of fiction (really, it is, I promise -- you even put on your underwear to have sex), I recommend trying the love story.  It really is beautifully written.  It won't make you have a desire to troll prisons for your own personal elven assassin (they don't exist which is at least part of the reason why).

There's two things about the sleazy, unrepentant assassin -- he desperately wants to escape the crows and escape that life, and he's the only character who may end up proposing.  

For most characters, to stay with King Alistair, you've got to convince him that he can have sex with more than one woman, that sex and love are not intertwined.  Zevran ends the opposite way -- sex and love become all mixed up for him, and he can't have sex with the warden until the warden gives him a commitment for the future.

It's great the way the characters grow and change.  The stories, well, they're beautifully written.  Not everyone likes them, but all the romances in the game are worth playing through until the very end, at least once!

NOW, some Zevran/Wynne luvin!  Because she's got those magical bosoms!

It's true that saying you dislike sleazy unapologetic murderers is kinda shooting yourself in the foot when you have a Jack avatar...Because she really does have the "unapologetic murderer" part down pat. And she propositions you for sex, if your Shep is male. Sooo...

However, any Jack fan will tell you that that's only the case on the surface: underneath that tough, intimidating exterior, she's just a frightened child who's been tortured, abused and treated like an animal, but who will open up if you treat her kindly and pick away at her defenses. So, she's a complex character if you give her the time of day. But guess what? Zevran is exactly the same: on the outside, he's a sleazy professional hitman. Underneath...he's basically a slave who has been tortured as a child and taught that having feelings is wrong and a liability. If you treat him right, he opens up and falls in love. Now tell me you don't see a similarity there. It's just extremely strange to me that you could give Jack the time of day and not even try to talk to Zevran to see if maybe, just maybe, he might be more than he seems.

That could be taken as offensive. I'm not sure I understand the prejudice: being bisexual doesn't automatically mean that he's a good character/LI. Alternatively, the fact that he's a good character/LI has nothing to do with the fact that he's bisexual.

Well, that part IS problematic, I agree. It should have been possible to get her to open up as a friend as well. You're able to do that with Zev, but not with her. Alas. Still, they do both fit the bill of the character with a difficult past who is very different from the first negative impression they give and needs some coaxing to show their true nature.

That's the problem with ME2 squadmate conversations in general though: there just isn't enough of them. What is there is mostly good (*looks at Jacob and cringes*), but when you compare it to DA:O, it needs so much MOAR.

@sresla: I have the collectors addition of the Prima guide and it has a whole section of things of Fereldan at least not included in the game or anything^^;; I got it for 1 cent at Best Buy cause it was on clearanceXD so uh, I can try to help answer whatever you needed to know?
Also I give Zev the sword each timeXD it's good cause it doesn't require any strength to use.

Edit: ok, looking at it now it has more than just Fereldan, it has stuff on Thedas, a timeline, the Fade, Orlais and stuffXD

yeah I actually liked Jack more when I wasnt acting like Doctor Phil... thats like one of the big reasons I hate bioware romances most of the time... I feellike im either mothering them or acting like Doctor Phil to help them with there problems and I find it stupid romancable characters in that game you can only get any development from them if your actually romancing them =/
