I do so love reading your comments re Alistair at Hostile. I have such a hard time with getting or keeping the companions at less than neutral.

I HAVE to do a Alistair hostile run through, just to hear the *sigh* if you must.

I think that will be my next play through.

Don't know if I'll ever be able to do a *earn Zevran's disapproval* I'm much more okay with the idea of Alisatir's disapproval.

soulsweeper: I also love that Zevran's standard tactics involve attacking whomever's attacking the Warden. Does any other character get it? In this playthrough my DE character is really touched by Zevran's protectiveness. He did save her from being raped by a giant spider on several occassions :D

It's weird, some of us have noticed that there must be a Ghost in Zevran's character programming, since even if you turn off his tactics of "Attack same thing as PC", he will still come running to the aid of the PC character. :)

ejoslin, is it possible to get negative approval for giving him his mother's locket if you tell him it's worthless and all that? I've never tried it, but since I managed to get negative approval for actually saving Isolde and Connor I thought maybe it's possible...

It's too bad about missing the Chantry Mother though. Hopefully not all is lost! I actually wish I'd been meaner to him on my HN as well, knowing now that he doesn't need to be at positive approval to become Queen, but alas. I console myself with the knowledge that I can harden him now (and the line actually sounds like something my character would say >.>).

Otherwise, is there really nowhere he disapproves in the Deep Roads besides Branka? Not killing Ruck or anything? And not more with the Urn if you destroy it or something? Weird...

It is great. I wish someone would put the 'Hate Speech" and that greeting on YouTube. I don't have the guts to do the play-through myself, but I'm dying to hear it

I'm pretty sure someone posted a link to that video in some thread, but of course I can't find it now :? EDIT: ninja'd  Gee, I love this conversation.
Has anyone seen Zevran's hate speech? I wonder what he says, but I don't think I'll ever have a time to try that myself. Maybe it's time for some console cheats :innocent:

Hah. Yeah, I did notice that. I turned it off to make room for another tactic (even though I love that it's there as a default), and was pleasantly surprised that he still ran over and saved her butt.

The only other companion NPC who did that was Daveth. I guess he was serious about watching my PC's back. Poor Daveth. If he had been a romanceble companion, my PCs would all have been in serious trouble. I really liked him, and even though his back-story wasn't half as bad as Zevran's, it was bad enough.

Oooooh, I sold the locket to Bodham, so I have to give that a try.  That would be great!  Hah, now I have to get out of the circle tower!

He doesn't hold any attachment to the Urn -- he says himself that they're just ashes, and he trusts the entire time that the Warden knows what she's doing, even though he makes comments.  Ruck, no disapproval either, but I'd be surprised if there were as it is clearly a mercy killing.  Plus, if you have Zevran or Oghren in your party, you don't have any choice anyway.

What about the conversation you can have with him in Eamon's Denerim estate, after you save Anora but before going to the Landsmeet? I think you can pick some nasty options there, although I never tried it.

Another good one!  He won't be hardened, so if I let him know he has to be king, that may work as well.

Thanks Ejoslin. Oh wow, he really is at his sexiest, ever.

Of course, there is a 'break up with Zevran after he's in love' snippet, and I'm just masochistic enough to have clicked it.

Oh good gracious. Gut kick time. "Farewell my love. And good luck."

Why are all his most emotional dialogues in the bad selections?

Now, we could do comparisons of breakups with Alistair and Zevran after they hit "in love" but . . . no.  With Alistair in love and Zevran at care (before adore), they may be somewhat close.

With Alistair, for good reason, he's a bit relieved.  With Zevran, it would have been kinder to rip his heart out of his body, then shred his soul to bits.  Would cause a lot less pain, for sure.

I think I can sum up a Zevran disapproval run. It actually would be a boring playthrough.  You wouldn't get his best dialogs, and he'd betray you at the end.  I think it would be more fun to kill him outright!  ANd therefore, I won't be seeing it (though I did watch the Zevran betrayal on youtube -- it's interesting for sure).

With Alistair, there's just a bit of fun making him mad.  He hates so much that he has to follow you.  You'd think if anything would make him a leader, it would be having a fellow grey warden who stands for everything he does NOT.

Yeah, Ejoslin it would
But I want him to call me.... ah... I mean my PC wants him to call her "his love" at least once. But she never gets that because she'd rather dunk her head in scalding water than hurt him.

I know, it's perfectly reasonable that he doesn't. After she tells him that she sees a (possible) future for them as a couple, he is just so trusting that he doesn't see the need to reaffirm his affection. After all, he just proposed to her (in the usual "Zevran way".)

@ Ejoslin (again)

Zevran's betrayal is on YouTube? I've never found it.

*headdesk*

I guess I'm too stupid to use the YouTube search function. I wanted to see it, but couldn't find it. Gah!

I had a dialogue option with Alisatir, even though he had an elevated approval, and when I said something along the lines of "we don't have time for this" his response was "Well, you're the one that came to talk to me, so you are just going to have to listen to what I have to say." And I got a disapproval from him for that.....

Ugh, I wish I could recall when it was. It was a conversation I was suprised to get a disapproval hit from. I think I mentioned it upthread somewhere.

He does that for the follow-up conversation after his personal quest (if you chose the "Everyone is out for themselves" option), so that won't help ejoslin (since she will never get his personal quest).

Yeah, I do think so. He apparently 'watched my PC's back' for real.

Wait! Didn't I already post that? Rofl.

Thanks again Ejoslin. I shall put my protective shield on and mosey over to YouTube, again. :)

Zevran betrayed me on my first playthrough and it was quite a shock.  I couldn't figure out how to gain his approval. My first conversation ended up with something like -15 hit and I turned the romance off unintentionally (I was just trying to play hard to get! :crying:), missed BOTH plot gifts (I thought rummaging through people belongings would make them attack me, Baldur's Gate-style) and only found one golden bar. I didn't even finish this game, it was so messed up. I missed a lot of things and only my dog and, surprisingly, Morrigan cared about my poor Warden at all

As he says, "we should get going- with you in front, of course."  Posted Image  Contrast to Alistair trying to deny that he's checking out your bum!  I just love that conversation.

I took several screenshots of Zevran staring at my character.  It just charmed me too much, especially because it was in fact shortly before they had the "do you stare at everyone like that" conversation.  I know other NPCs do it, but if I want it to mean something, it's my game and that's that.  LOL

so I got distracted for my Alexander Cousland playthrough and continued to play alittle with my new Baren Brosca playthrough (yes Im very unoriginal when it comes to naming characters but despite sharing the same name hes completely different in terms of looks, personality and class from my original baren)

still no idea who the party is gonna be with him... other than Zevran which could be awkward since both are duel weilding assassins... (i could always respec Zev to be an archer though...)

Two DW rogues work -- have one be a str/dex and use a long sword/crow dagger, the other cunning.  The advantage to the str/dex rogue is you don't have to train them in either deft hands OR the lethality tree, which frees up a lot of talent points for making them very good at DW.  You can have one be a bard, the other a ranger as well -- they complement each other nicely.

Yeah, Addai, I still would swear that Zevran stares at the PC quite a lot. Alistair does too when romanced, but not as often as Zevran. He stares at her even when he talks to others, it's too cute.

I wish I could bring myself to play that. From what I've seen in that vid, Zevran seems to go down really fast. As if he wasn't even defending himself. Either he still wants to die, or that guy didn't develop him right, because the Zevran my PCs take is the deadliest one in the bunch.

Edited for the win:
Hey Soulsweeper. You got him the "Shadow Armor" too, I see. I've got that mod, and I love it on Zevran.

Baren #2 is going ranger its the one spec I funnily enough havnt tried despite the fact in NWN2 I played as a ranger all the time (then again it helped that the ranger in NWN2 could get a pet dinosaur which is just awesome)

Zev tends to always end up as a assassin/Bard when ever i use him since the first bard song is just great and Leliena can go jump off a cliff <_<
