I just have to make up a scenario where that would make sense, else it will be jarring should I come across it while playing.

use my suggestion in my previous post! that or you two took a sparring session a bit to far(no intensional on both your parts things just got out of hand) both work

Another good one. I knew whining over it in this thread would bring consolations

Great, Creature. Oh, I feel much better now, phew. Three very feasable explanations.

--> Spoiler Warning <--

In my main play through I didn't like him, but I had spared him so I was stuck with him... 'lo and behold he betrayed me... I really didn't care. He is now another nameless corpse in the back alleys of Denerim.

My female character killed him out right, slit his throat without even talking to him. I didn't want his leacherous eyes roving her body in camp (This was before I knew he could betray you... so that had no effect on the decision).

Needless to say... I don't see any romantic appeal.

Maybe there was originally some idea of having the option to spare him a second time if he turned on you and joined Taliesin, it got taken out, but some dialogue snippets got left behind.

Or you could figure he just had a good go at you twice during the initial ambush.

You know, there may be something to this.  Also, you always have the option of letting him go that first encounter -- I wonder if he tries again.  In fact, I may try this.

I think I usually come out of the talk to Alistair and let him know I pick Zevran over him, with a less than 10 approval hit. But if I talk to Alistair and pick Alisatir oevr Zevran, get a 25 approval hit, then go talk to Zevran and get at least another 11 hit.

And If i talk to Zevran and pick him over Alistair, it's a 18 point hit, then a much smaller hit when you talk to him (or you can turn the romance back on).

Why would you be stuck with him?  Like most of the other companions, you can always ask him to leave.

About the assassins in Antiva thoughts, I'd agree that there's really a sense of thrill in it for the targets. Leliana talked about how much fun the nobles in Orlais had with it, and it seems to be similar in Antiva. Considering just how expensive the Crows are to hire, I'm sure the targets almost feel honored to have a contract on them. And although they may try to escape, I'm sure they understand perfectly well that the Crows *don't* fail. (The codex if you kill Zevran outright says it was probably the Crows' first failed mission.)

So even the people who tried to fight back, I think, saw it as a bit of a game. The mage tried to trick him and turn him in, while the other target tried to see if she could seduce him enough for him to spare her. It doesn't really sound like they were 'fighting' back, so much as they were toying with fate to see how long they could put off death. After all, even if they got rid of Zevran, someone else would be sent after them anyway.

I'm not sure what conversation this was with Leliana, but with her assignments people didn't always end up dead.  I don't think it's a normal response to be excited or playful when you find out that someone's going to kill you.  Not every Antivan noble can be a self-destructive adrenaline junkie.  A lot of them would have been people with families, who would definitely not want to die, and feel all the normal emotions when faced by a Crow.

If he does, he's dead. So I better not let him get away the first time around. :P

I think character A will handle it better if you dump A first instead of telling character B you pick B over A, and then go talk to A. It just seems to be more inscincere to say "Hey! I choose You!" then you to the other person and try to say "Oh, I'm sorry." Like really, how sorry can you be? I've always thought the "I'm sorry to tell you I dump you after you probably already know" kind of seems like gloating.

I think it is very weird that they can here you when they are not standing near each other. Zevran and Leliana are standing in the same area but still, the fact that she is eavesdropping makes her even more creepy.

I normally don't tell Zevran/Alistair that I choose them before I told the other, but come on 5 hours that's like 5 weeks in the game. She's just obsessed.

I can't wait for the earring conversation (still need to do Orzammar and everything). Thankfully I don't have to go to school rest of the week so I got a lot of time. You first have to refuse the earring right? I'm so going to mess that up if I don't know what to do. Can't wait, can't wait... Posted Image

Yeah but refuse it gently. Tell him you don't want the earring if means nothing. Don't be mean, and save before the Taliesen encounter. I think there's an auto-save there anyways.

XD  It's so worth waiting for, though!
Make sure you refuse it for a good reason. ;)

I know. But I wanted to see it through. Needless to say for the rest of my Dragon Age life he will find himself with a second mouth located at the throat area.

I will, thanks for the tip.
Damn I'm totally freaking out (in a good way) just thinking about it. This is terrible, I hate him.

also make sure about your answers at Taliesen. I got him in love but never got the second earring request... so I'm hoping to do it right this time.
---at work and wishing for an antivan assassin, not for sex but for his real work...today's a bear..

Oh yes, be careful here.  Here's what NOT to do.  Tell him twice it's up to him whether he stays or goes.  Then after he asks if it's ok if he stays, tell him, "It would be hard to kiss you if you left."  Again, do NOT do this.  He will stay permanently at "adore."  Romance over.  But you do get a nice kiss.

To be safe, just tell him straight off you want him to stay.

Edit: Though this will probably not be seen -- I just reread what I was responding to.  When Zevran declares his feelings, ask him, "Maybe it would be better for you if we stopped," ("I'm no wiser than you" also works, but trust me on this).  This leads to the proposal.

If you wanted to see it through, then you would have taken more efforts to make sure he didn't betray you. Saying "woohoo, I spared your life now love me even though I ignore you!" seems like a silly attitude to have with someone who *is* an assassin.

You're right, not all would be so willing to die. But, I'm sure the Crows understand exactly what type of missions Zevran is suited for. He doesn't seem like the type to be sent after families and the like; he'd be sent where he can do what he does best: seduce. Leave the quiet assassinations to other Crows more suited for it. Zevran would more likely be sent after people who are thrill seekers (especially in bed), and I think there would be a fair number of them. It seems clear that some Crows use their status to their advantage (like Zevran) while others are much more secretive about it (Master Ignacio), since each of them deals with different types of assassinations.

First Zevran romance, so I'm a bit scared I'm going to mess it up.

I always take the 'I didn't bring him obviously.', I can't do that this time since I'm going to bring him with me. Next I pick 'I need to be dead first.'

Are there different options if you do bring him or are romancing him?

If you romance him, you can say, "Zevran belongs with me now." If he's with you it just skips over the first part asking about where he is, IIRC.

The "I didn't bring him" line won't show up, otherwise it's the same. However, I do love the "I have to be dead, first" line. His response is a super-squee...

Edited:
That's why I always save right before the encounter. I want to say both lines. And I do. Praise F5 and F9.

He will always go to that encounter and be locked into it (if not about to betray you or leave of course). So have him geared properly; it's a tough fight.

EDIT: Pretty much ninja'd...

But I shall join in this chant!

Although for me it's more like F5 F9 F9 F9 F9 F9 F9 F9 F9 F9 F9...
