oooh I didn't know you could leave Alistair behind for Anora's rescue. Might have to try that.

If you have Anora betray you and Alistair is in the party, Zevran threatens to slit her throat and throw her in the river.  If you don't have Alistair with you, then his dialog overrides Zevran's.  I didn't get an approval gain from Alistair.  Now hopefully I can get the additional 10 point loss I need in Eamon's estate.  He's not hardened (obviously) so I'll probably have to load and reload to find what annoys him the most.

I always pick the same options you do, Sabriana, and it definitely make it sound more like a proposal later on. He and my HNF just got engaged and are in the Alienage. *sigh* I'm hoping this time Alistair refuses to marry her! I would love to run off into the sunset with the elf on her, at least one play through!

Before this I took just Zev and Sten for a walk about Denerim. Sten's reaction to my kissing Zev had me laughing.

You must be running a mod?  I imagine that's the same line you'd get with Alistair, correct?  I'll have to try that.  LOL  I love Sten.  The grumpy lines he delivers are sometimes more satisfying than other companions' "friendly" replies.

I am almost absolutely positive that Zev and Morrigan are the only ones who give approval when you kill Howe (out of them, Wynne, Leliana, and Alistair). I even notice because I want to know what exactly they approve of-  killing him (since you can't not kill him that would seem strange) or how the PC handles the confrontation.

Agreed.  I can never figure out why, either.

*cheers* Go ejoslin, she's our man, if she can't do it, no one can!
Yay you're really speeding right through this, it's got me excited! :P

OK major Zevran squee last night. I wrapped up the Deep Roads and Branka (uck, I feel so dirty, why couldn't I have had Branka kill herself without destroying the anvil? My character is definitely the 'pragmatist,' but I don't see why she would let that crazy **** live after what she did. I kept it in the end, but talk about an unpleasant decision...). So I headed back to camp and was talking to people. I'd written a conversation I imagined between my character and Zevran where she finally accepts him and starts to trust him, and I figured it would occur right about then. So when I go to talk to Zevran I get his "when this is over" talk. Wow, talk about perfect timing! I still ended up with a -1 from it (I don't think she's ever had a positive approval gain from their conversations), but it went along so nicely with what I felt she wanted to say. I swear Zevran is psychic sometimes.

Can't wait to get to Anora's rescue! First time I did it I escaped with Alistair, so I've never gotten to see all the great pairings.

Alistair refused to marry my Cousland at 93 hostile. But he gives a FABULOUS after dialog. I missed this on my last Alistair-hate game because he dumped her instead. But wow, he even asked the warden, "Do you really hate me THAT much?"

Edit: He is insisting she be his chancellor.  This at least is something.  His rejection of the marriage was great, though.  He said he hadn't taken that many blows to the head!

Second edit: Does this mean that Zevran will be the Teyrn of Gwaren?  Or will he just be the Teyrna's consort even if they actually get married?  Hard to imagine he'd be anything but the consort.

I did end up getting Alistair's hate speech.  He's pretty upset about being king . . .

I believe we need a transcript.  Could angry Alistair possibly be sexier than in-love-not-bedded Alistair? I am starting to think so!

I would guess that Zevran would be the Teyrna's consort. OTOH, an elven PC can be granted the teyrnir. Wow, I bet that explodes some heads in Ferelden.

Ok, I missed the first part, unfortunately. But it's his unhardened -- King, I can't believe you made me king! How could you do that? Or however it goes.

Warden (paraphrased from memory):I thought you'd be speechless
Transcription begins:
Alistair: Speechless? I'm furious! How could you do this to me?!
Alistair: I've done nothing but regret my blood since the day I was born. I don't want this. I never wanted this. I hate the very idea of it.
Alistair: I know you don't give a damn how I feel about anything, but why would you do this to me? Do you hate me that much?
Warden: This is a good thing (I picked a nicer response than I could have)
Alistair: A good thing. Are you serious?
Alistair: I've just... never thought of myself as a leader. I'm going to make a terrible king, you have to know that. How can I make decisions that are going to affect the lives of everyone in the kingdom?
Alistair: I guess I really don't have a choice in this now, do I? I'll do my best, of course. And I expect that you'll be there to help me, right?
Warden: You want me to help you?
Alistair: You're the one who got me into this mess. You owe me, that's what I think. If I'm going to rule over anyone, I want you there to see me suffer.
Warden: No. Forget it.
Alistair. I see. I guess I really shouldn't be surprised. Have it your way then.

Of course, she's just tormenting him. She'll be his chancellor. And the Teyrna of Gwaren.  And Fergus of course will be the Teyrn of Highever.  And Zevran doesn't just have to be a royal scandal.  Excellent ending!  Time for the final onslaught (I'm not doing side quests, obviously).

Awesome!

You can't be Chancellor and Teryna of Gwaren, can you?  I thought you only get one boon.

Wowww, ouch. XD (And congrats on getting through all that, ejoslin! :D)

I need to go transcribe the hate!rant after my PC spared Loghain... I knew Alistair would be mad, but I felt really, really bad after getting that. :( Alistair and my CE are (ahem, were) supposed to be best friends, blood brothers almost, and that really hurt.  It is too bad, though, that Alistair's at his best when he's not happy. ;D

Hmm, I wonder how much worse an elven Teyrn would be (to the Fereldans) than a commoner like Loghain being elevated... The nobles would be incensed at either one, but the common folk might be okay with a situation like Loghain's and not with an elf...

Oh, you're right.  Hmmm, decisions, decisions.  I'm so used to being princess consort and Teyrna of Gwaren.

Haha, it's wonderful! Thanks for the hard work, ejoslin. =P That's definitely going to be an interesting ending for you. (And yay for Zevran finally getting a truly happy ending!)

I'd have to say that angry Alistair is in many ways sexier than pre-sex-in-love Alistair. He's got a fire in him! If only he'd ever yell at anyone else like that, my characters might just jump him then and there. Ah, 'tis unfortunate...

Out of curiosity, did your character end up doing lots of terrible things or only in Redcliffe?

I got an ending similar to yours ejosliln except I'm not chancellor I'm rebuilding the wardens with Zevran. Alistair is king. He was angry about that. I love his Angry about marrying anora as well. Has anyone ever asked him to marry Anora if you're in love with him as a HNF ? I wonder what that is like.

I think if Alistair would just romance you instead of bedding you once and then backing off, but not letting you flirt with anyone else, he'd be hard to escape from---his voice is to die for. It's just that he tells you he loves you and then there is no real contact after that, whereas with Zevran he's always interacting.

I've never done the "companions rescue me" scenario but I might this time just to have Zevran rescue me. I usually seduce the guard and then we kill him (It was a riot doing that as a male---I thought Alistair would die of embarrassment.)

Some of my favorite dialogs in the game are Sten/Morrigan. But I have yet to see Shale/Sten. I will need to do that next round when I'm on my mage.

I did have fun telling shale "does this mean we're going to be after the same men" line.

yeah, ejoslin is my hero--I don't think I'd have the heart to get Alistair to 100 hostile---he's such a sweetie even when I'm mad at him. But I might try it ... after my mage...who will be rejected and get Zev on the rebound. and after a zev dwarf lady...

Hah, the guard seduction bit is hilarious. XD  I look forward to doing that with my mage, who honestly would try that.  (I had to try it once with my elf just to see it, but he waited for the rescue -- Zevran's line when the rescue party arrives is priceless. ;D)

LOL, when do you get to say that to Shale?

She was decent, actually.  But she was very rude.  She sacrificed Isolde to save Conner, which I think is the best solution.  It was the conversation with Alistair that earned her -51 approval.  At every opportunity, she told Alistair to shut up and follow.  She didn't leave Redcliff to the undead (that was my City Elf who did that).

You know, one thing I found interesting was that as soon as my Cousland learned that Alistair was heir to the throne, she wanted to use that information to their advantage -- he got REALLY upset about that too.

Edit: She will be chancellor.  There's all the power there with none of the responsibility.  So she and Zevran can live as they choose!

I haven't even started Orzammar (yesterday I said I was going to play it, but I didn't). I figured Zevran needs a little more lockpicking skills before going into the Deep Roads and I have like 20 unfinished side quests so I'm going to do those first...

I also checked another playthrough of mine where I was romancing Alistair and now I have a question for the ones who have had Zevran hit love.

I noticed that when Alistair kisses the Warden he uses his hands to hold her, Zevran just kisses you (that looks so cute o.o'). I was wondering when Zevran hits love does the kiss change, will he hold the Warden while kissing him/her? And when he hits love can you ask for a kiss, because right now he only kisses the Warden when you ask him to sleep with you.

It's the same for any origin. He gets a little angry when you propose the notion ("Why would you do that? What about us?") but you can persuade him to agree with little to no penalty. After the Landsmeet, he breaks up/tries to break up with you (only it's a "engaged to Anora" specific dialog).

I always tent Alistair before he asks, then I do his personal quest last before the Landsmeet, so I still have his not-quite-a-propsition-anymore to look forward to before heading over to Redcliffe.

I did it up to the point of the Landsmeet where HNF pulled the rug out from under that arrangement and married him herself.  The pre-Landsmeet freak-out was no different than when I did it before as a Dalish elf romancing him.  He says "How could you do this?  What about us?"  And hardened, accepts either "this changes nothing" or "this is a political arrangement, nothing more," though not without heartburn.  He ended with "Alright, go tell her I agree.  I need a drink or ten."  Poor Alistair.  Posted Image

The rescue is lots of fun.  You have to do it just to hear Zevran's squee-worthy greeting.  At least, I think it's squee-worthy.  Perfectly pitched.

I did have fun telling shale "does this mean we're going to be after the same men" line.

LOL  I've never noticed that one!

Zevran has different kisses for all the races.  But it doesn't change after he hits love.  And the only way you can get a PDA is with a mod like Dialog Tweaks.

I'm actually tempted to give Alistair all his gifts and see if he'll marry her at a low hostile. I do have a save close to there, and I'm pretty sure I can get him into the low -30s with them.

Edit: And no, he will not marry at -30 hostile.  He needs to be at least neutral.

Does he react differently to gifts if you're hostile when you give them?  (Or does anyone, for that matter?)  I always thought his "Is that for me?" bit was adorable. Posted Image  But it would seem weird if he hates your guts ;D

No he doesn't. And yes, he will marry the warden at -19 neutral. *sigh* I DID have to test that, didn't I :( Now I know my warden is going to marry him.

Interesting that I could get him from -93 hostile to -19 neutral with nothing but gifts. And I haven't even given him his mother's amulet yet.

*sigh* Poor Zevran, yet again :(

Edit: And I already know he'll sleep with Morrigan at hostile.  Ah well, off to see a hurt Zevran who will make the best of a bad situation!

so Iv started reading the calling because I want background info on Utha and the architect last night

and I have to say Duncans conversation with Maric where he talks about Antiva made me chuckle though antiva obviously isnt so bad since our dear Zev came from there <3
