Thanks for the information, and I would appreciate you posting the transcript.  In all the playthroughs where my PC has romanced him, he's been way above 70 by the time I get that encounter!

Zevran: Taliesen is dead, I assume.  He must be, or you would not have returned.  Then it is true... I am free of the Crows.
Zevran: They will assume that I am dead along with Taliesen.  So long as I do not make my presence known to them, they will not seek me out.
Warden: You should have stayed and fought.
Zevran: Believe it or not, despite my feelings about the Crows in general, I had no argument with Taliesen in specific.
Zevran: He was a good friend whose only fault lie in his priorities. I had no wish to fight him, and truly I would have preferred he not come after us at all. But what is done is done.
Warden: A good friend, was he?
Zevran: He was. And more. But there is no need to relive the past.  That is all behind me now.
Zevran: I suppose it would be possible for me to leave, now, if I wished. I could go far away, somewhere where the Crows would never find me.
Zevran: I think, however, that I could also stay here. I made an oath to help you, after all.  And saving the world seems a worthy task to see through to the end, yes?

Edit: Yes, I find it very difficult to keep him below 71 if he's romanced.  I had about half the dialogs left, and all his gifts in that game at that point.

my initial intent with my male warrior was to save Loghain, romance Morrigan and Zevran, and marry Anora. I couldn't stand the btich after she said she wouldn't let me co-rule :) so I decided to just let her rule and go off with Zevran and rebuild the wardens. After all, if it's a choice between Zevran and Anora, who would you pick lol

oooh tonight I might be lucky enough to get the second earring dialog ! at least I will get the Zevran saves me from Ft Drakon.

the end slide for Anora and Cousland PC makes it clear that no matter what she thinks your not just gonna sit back and let her rule by herself and that you do have power

wow I can't believe I finally read through all of the posts... when I started there were only like 90 something pages lol, but it kept growing quite quickly. Zevran is totally my favorite character, and I found that out my third playthrough by accident... the person I would think would get along horribly with Zev got along great with him... it was strange. And now Zev is my fave character, in any fictional setting, and I read a lot of fantasy books so that says something... I think my friends are sick of me talking about him lolXD that and everyone else I meet who plays doesn't like him and loves Ali or only like him through what I've said... and hello to you all, and Jenovan I really like your stories:)

Ejoslin I seem to recall you saying that Oghren would override Zevran mercy kill ruck speech if you had him in your party... well I just got Zevrans speech and Oghren was in my party

although when I said Zevran was right Oghren butted in about being right...

Oghren doesn't override EVERYTHING Zevran says, but he does quite a bit of it.   You need to do it both with and without Oghren to see what I mean.  Oghren overrides both the very start of what is said there and the end.  Zevran starts it (when Oghren isn't in the party) by saying he's generally not what would be considered a sympathetic man, but it pains him to see someone in that condition (I don't remember the exact wording).  And then of course, you get the line that Zevran says when Oghren is in the party, something like his mind is gone, and his body will soon follow, that he's seen poisoning victims in better shape.  Then when you agree to kill Ruck, Zevran says something about it is far more cruel to leave him alive.

When Oghren isn't in the party, it is without a shadow of a doubt a mercy killing in Zevran's eyes.

it was obvious it is a mercy killing you can tell just from the "his mind is gone and his body will soon follow"

Oghrens version is also a Mercy killing though he goes about it in his Oghren way (the only time iv known Oghren to want to outright murder some one was the Elf spy at redcliff tavern)

I also have pics... Zevran looks really nice in his Dalish felons coat :3

Somewhere a while back we were talking about Zevran's religious beliefs. I just noticed his line in the Urn of Sacred Ashes temple: "That is the Maferath, husband of Andraste and her betrayer. [pause] What? I went to the Chantry as a child!" Funny. It doesn't say much about his beliefs, but does go back to what ejoslin said at the time we were discussing this, that if you're an orphan and a slave and there is a place where you find a bit of kindness, that stays with you.

I just like what Zevran says there more than what Oghren says.  His whole, "I'm not what you would call a sympathetic man . . ." when that is exactly what he is there.  You should hear it at least once without Oghren in the party.  He sounds so sad also, when he says it would be crueler to leave him alive.  It's an awful moment, but it's far more poignant when Oghren isn't there.  Because, well, Oghren is Ogrhen

welcome to the thread sjach..... etc :)

oh what a great night. I stayed in the dungeon and let Zevran with Morrigan rescue me. Zev was a riot and I ended up getting +6 or something approval from him--maybe cause I trusted him to come to the rescue ?

Then back at camp we did the second earring. WOWZA. I must have f5f9 a zillion times to hear that over again. great voice acting.

I did it again--convinced Alistair to marry Anora. Boy it wasn't hard at all. That twerp obviously never cared for me all that much :) (only kidding, I love you Alistair)

and oh ya, the zev comment without oghren is very moving

now off to the lineage

Woo! Finally finished Orzammar, and poor Sena gave Zev the "speech" about wanting power, that did sort of surprise me. It was definately in a different vein then his Ruck speech. It did not disappoint.

Killed Branka of course, no way in hell I will ever side with her...but I must have hit a bug in that fight because something happened. Branka must be a ninja:ph34r: able to use "Kage Bushin no Justu" or multiply herself. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw this so I figured I'd share .

Image IPB

Oh and a well placed shot with Oghren's "call me an elf" line to Branka, with Zev conviniently in the background.

It makes me think about the different types of devotion as well.  You have Lel who throws herself into it with a zeal, but also refuses to actually believe what is taught.  Then you have someone like Alistair who believes in more of an honor code, but he doesn't need faith to make him behave in an ethical way.  Then perhaps you have Zevran, who often makes a prayer gesture and says he asks for forgiveness from his sins at every chance, but how he believes is obviously a very personal thing, and he's very irreverent anyway, so who knows.

Edit: And welcome, sorry!  Gah, suddenly  the board has picked up!

Oh, and Raiynsong, yes, I'm surprised my F5 F9 keys work at all anymore, I use them so much.  Very much a surprise, isn't it? I mean, even though you were expecting it, still, yes, the voice acting is so amazing.  If you ever have the guts and need confirmation that it is a proposal, try the negative answer (no, that's too much.).  It's horrible, but you will honestly be able to say, "Yes, Zevran DID propose!"

Wow, I just tested the Zevran talk, and choose "I'm sorry" instead of, "this doesn't have to end." THAT has got to be Zevran at his most honorable. Geez, I love him more! I'm going to post the transcription, but you'd have to hear his voice to understand how wonderful he is. He sounds so loving -- ugh.

SPOILER:

Zevran: So... you have heard the rumor about the future queen? She has this elven fellow on the side. Handsome, naturally.
Warden: Naturally.
Zevran: He is no dummy either, let me tell you.
Zevran: I know how things are. I shall make it easy for you. What we have... if it can no longer be, then it can no longer be.
Warden: I'm sorry, Zevran.
Zevran: No, no, do not be sorry, I am not. (his voice here -- wow, so much love)
Zevran: You have made a fine match. And if he proves a poor husband... then you know who to hire, yes? (laughs)
Zevran: Ahhh assassination jokes, will they never grow old? Come, let us return to the task at hand.

Of course I reloaded!  The worst part is, no approval loss at all.  So we're back to the royal scandal.

It is so sad, you get Zevran's most loving moments when he is hurt, and this is no exception. It also makes me sure that his royal scandal joke is nothing but a cover as well.  Bleh, I may go right back to my hostile game!  I still have that saved at redcliff!

I think I mentioned this earlier... but I have to agree Image IPB and he's quite polite toward the warden PC if she just kindly declines his come-ons.

Zevran is a pretty interesting character. Many people just don't give him a chance... he actually made me regret being faithful to Alistair on my first playthrough >_>

I think the gesture isn't meant as a prayer thing... maybe only whn he was being blessed, but I think thats just them looking at there hands... when the guard does it it makes me think of how t hey are empty headed and think this job is just for looks, kinda like he looks at his hand like 'oo look at the nice glove' or something. but they may have had him do it at the Chantry thing as a gesture for prayer.

Yikes! I can't keep up!

re: the Taleisin dialogue-- There is a similar reply when you are discussing his final mission with him before the Landsmeet as well, so you don't have to keep his approval that low for that long. I can't seem to do it even when I am having a no romance run with him. I just love his interactions too much.

I am so pathetic! Back off to play. I hate my current CE, but I really want to get the dialogue with Zev about her wedding. I should have my head examined for being this obsessed with a video game character!

Sigh... well I completely understand this ^
A couple of days ago, my latest CE wanted to see the wedding dialogue include Zev (along with Alistair) so I replayed it like 5 times until I got the correct sequence. THEN I realized I wanted to have the 2nd earring offering which I'd never had before so i went and replayed an earlier save. All I can say is thank the Maker that my husband and friends have no idea of how deep my obsession with Zev really is.
I also just want to say that I really enjoy reading such insightful posts, you guys are light years ahead of me :)

I think this thread is really a 12-step Zevran group only the steps are "how to get the massage message" "how to get the second earring" etc

I just finished alienage and I do love the wedding reactions. I just wish there were a more forceful -- "NO way did I want to marry that guy" or else a playful "we'll have to talk about that later <wink>' response. And it's great that Alistair also reacts badly as well.

Back to do the landsmeet. mm.. I'm tempted to save loghain again....

I've yet to save Loghain. For some reason, I have Riordan's line ringing in my ear each time, "Be as loyal to your brothers as you can possibly be," or something along those lines. Even though I see it as what is driving Alistair is vengeance against Loghain, my feelings for him at the Landsmeet ALWAYS interfere with sparing Loghain, even as a friend only.

I am also playing a casteless dwarf and she is very practical, SHE might just be able to pull off keeping Loghain where my nobles and elves have not...

well, I couldn't do it. Couldn't save Loghain this time . I'm a City Elf after all. How can I forgive him the slave trade. I could do it once before on a noble because defeating the blight was more important than anything else, even the silly kingdom. But I can't do it on this one.

But what happened was, I dueled Loghain, then I let Alistair kill him. of course, Anora was pissed, and they were supposed to be married but I said Alistair would be king, which pissed her off even more lol. So she's in the dungeon now.

Now, I have dialog tweaks, and I'm at 100 love with Zevran and had already way long ago had the breakup dialog with Alistair and he's at about 80 friendly. But he still came running into the room yelling because we couldn't have kids. It was a different dialog than when we were actually a couple (though I never did play that scenario out all the way) It was more like "I thought we were heading toward a relationship but now I'm not sure we can have one" and I kept saying things like "are you imagining things, we're just friends, I don't feel like that about you" it was kind of funny. In the end he finally accepted that I didn't care about him that way and is now off to camp to be alone. Poor guy. here he thought he was dumping me, and I didn't need to be dumped. VERY good revenge for someone who has been dumped in the past. Get him to friendly and then laugh at him. Poor Alistair. (and I really like the guy, I really do. He's just so clueless sometimes. If only he kept having sex with me instead of talking about duty I might not have even dropped him for Zevran...nah...I still would have :P

Welcome to our 12-step program (rofl), sjachdarastrix!   (And thanks!   )

My city elf spared Loghain, partly because he's a merciful thing, and partly because he fears the Wardens aren't going to survive the battle, so he doesn't expect Loghain to live for long. :|    But the guy is quite interesting to talk to, it turns out.  Still trying to figure out how the PC feels about him, but it's obviously going to be complicated.

Now, my mage will probably go ahead and fight Loghain himself (loool yeah) and execute him. T_T  To some degree as payback for Jowan.  'Cos that's how he thinks. :bandit:

Huh, speaking of the Landsmeet, found this when sorting through pics: Zevran about to face off with Loghain.  Serious Zevran is serious. :?

Save is definitely your best friend :) save and reload.

Well I'm ready for the final onslaught but decided that needed to wait till tomorrow so I started yet another new char, this time a Noble dwarf dual warrior female. The aeducan origin was a riot only I wish I coulda slept with gorim before I got exiled. It was fun playing a snobby ****. I will still do my (second) mage next tho. i think. . .
