What's the (Romantic) Appeal of Zevran?

Also, when you first meet her, simply agreeing with Morrigan when she says people who forfeit their freedom don't deserve to be saved or whatever she says is supposed to be enough to make Wynne attack.

Well I'm ready for the final onslaught but decided that needed to wait till tomorrow so I started yet another new char, this time a Noble dwarf dual warrior female. The aeducan origin was a riot only I wish I coulda slept with gorim before I got exiled. It was fun playing a snobby ****. I will still do my (second) mage next tho. i think. . .
The thing that disappointed me about that was when my PC saw Gorim in Denerim, there was no reaction from my travelling companions, i.e. "YOU were a noble?!!!" or "KING Endrin was your father?!!" Maybe I should reload and try later on, dunno if that would make a difference or not.

Funny, with my Dwarf Noble, she does tell Wynne she was a princess, but she also says, "and I'm nothing, now." I find that a lot more appropriate than having the HN say that.
I'm actually trying to decide what character to play next. I'm running around on my blonde DNF, but it's not a new game (though I did copy the save file). The origin with the least bones tossed, I think, is the Dalish.
Edit: And I play this game so much just so I can GET that stupid smile on my face. Gah, that elf . . .

With the PC, you can use dialog tweaks, which IMO makes it worth playing on a PC rather than console.

Also earlier in that game, I played around a little with options, briefly romanced him and got him to ask me to choose between him and Alistair and chose Zevran (I didn't save all this of course), and right after the convo ended, Alistair gave negative approval 26 or something--before I even TALKED to him, and he was like, "so, I guess this is it then" when I went to talk to him. Wow. Nosy much, Ali?
So, THIS playthrough I decided I want to run off and reform the Grey Wardens with Alistair at the end, and romanced Zevran early. I got it as far as I could at that point (which, romantically, not incredibly far) and then slept with him, and afterward told him it couldn't happen again. I was surprised to get a negative approval (only -2 though) because I'd swear ejoslin told me he'd actually GIVE approval if I did that after the first time. I must've missed something, or screwed something up. I had a really hard time breaking up with him though, even at that point. Even then, he's like, "Then I suppose I will treasure the memories of the short time we had together" and already seems very sad/rejected. Poor Zev. Ah, why can't I romance both of them?

Sabriana wrote... I'm leaning toward it, Arduine. I just can't stomach her anymore. Even though her apology is the nicest one of all regarding Zevran, her nasty 'before' talk is still hard to take.
I just have to figure out a way why my usually quite friendly Warden would attack Wynne. She usually waits until she it attacked first. I wish Petra and Kinnon could be kept alive, though.
Me too. I tried this last night just for kicks and I ended up offing everyone including the kids. I guess I won't be using fireball next time ![]()
I'm keeping Wynne for now because I heard she might tattle on me (blood mage) once the tower is saved and want to see what happens there. I understand that you get attacked but what happens with Bel, the maleficar that I spared? Does she die regardless?

Selvan , my DE is still ticking off the group. *sigh* It's BAD when Wynne approves the most of your PC, and I leave her in camp now. (I haven't been taking mages with, although my PC is okay with Morrigan, and been doing just fine).
I might spare Loghain this time, my DE doesn't have a beef with him like my CE PCs all have. (Howe and slavery....ugh) But I just find it so personally satisfying to chop off his head. (Started reading the books, and while I find Loghain more....relatable, I still don't like him)
I love the "Alistair dumping a non-romanced PC" after landsmeet (hardened Alistair). "*laughs* Don't kid yourself, we both know where this was going"
Someone on another thread mentioned as an example of how obsessed with the game she is, something about getting a random gift from a friend on Facebook and it was a gold bar and her first thought was "Oh, Zevran would like this!"
As something that kind of ticked me off with the pro-Ali girls saying way back that there was nothing 'unique' regarding Zevran, but that Alisatir had his own hairstyle....I have always thought to myself, "Um no, there are like 50 other characters with Alistair's hairstyle (including my cousin Soris!).....and there is like at least 1 guy in every other TV commercial with Alisatir's hairstyle...how unique is that???" Okay, thanks for letting me get than annoyance I have been carrying around for 1.5 months off my chest.
And I do like Jenovans fanfics.
Read one yesterday (not a Jenovan story thopugh) a one chapter story re Zevran had left the PC (CE), and came back to her side while she was in the deep roads at her Calling. I bawled at work.....*sigh* Thank goodness for the walls of my cubicle, I don't think I could have explained why I was crying to all the male engineers sitting around me.

I see Zevran doing that one last thing for the warden -- making sure she dies rather than being pulled under. But I also see him going out immediately after that.
I think that is the most fitting end to their romance, at least

As for wondering if made up people would like certain things... I do that all the time and have done that long before this-_- but I think Zev is now a permanent voice in my head.... whether thats good or bad remains to be seen, a t least he gets along with my other dude lol.

That's why I always really enjoy finding something that's well done and different.
Edit: The writer of the fanfic that made me cry took the tact of her and Zevran together, and they stayed in Denerim, but then he disappears from her side one day and 22 years later shows up at her side in the Deep Roads. And he promises to stay by her side this time no matter what. The mental imagery of him standing over her body to keep the darkspawn from eathing her.....man, I still get misty eyed thinking about it.

I don't know about the Xbox, but on PS3 you could only have 30 save slots per character -- on the PC you get 500 ;D That makes a HUGE difference if you like to save in many spots and, say, reexamine dialoguesjachdarastrix wrote...

And yes, the mods add a lot of fun, too. XD I'm not so sure about the combat, but it's muuuch easier to take care of things with a mouse and keyboard than with a controller. :|
YES! I cannot understand where the idea of Alistair's hair being unique came from. :| Not only is it not unique to the game, but it's probably one of the most common haircuts going in real life right now. XD I call it "the Fratboy". XDJaulen wrote...

Aww... I can definitely see Zevran going along on a PC's Calling... his love for her/him means so much to him, even in the relatively short period of the game. After 30 years together? It's easy to imagine Zevran not wanting to be apart, even in death. Unless the Warden made him... but Zev might consider that cruel. Hmm...

You can always lose approval, depending on what you say. You can lose approval with Zevran after the tent even if you stay with him, depending on how you answer both before after afterwards. Like Alistair, if you choose Zevran, you found you can take a major approval loss, but you can also end up gaining approval. Everyone hears what's going on -- keep that in mind during the conversation afterwards.
I'd thought that specifically saying "This can't happen again" wouldn't lose approval, but I must have misunderstood. Or maybe it was due to some response I picked in earlier dialogue.
It's interesting that Alistair seems to hear conversation with Zevran only if you're forced to choose, when you can roll around and have outdoor sex with Zev right in front of him and he never blinks until the "I noticed you two have gotten close" thing, and still even then is can be all "Oh good, I assumed it was romantic" like he has no idea. Also, I think in another playthrough Alistair asked me to choose between him and Leliana and I chose him and Leliana seemed clueless until I talked to her. Maybe he and Zevran are positioned closer to each other or something.

You CAN gain approval telling him that, but it's far less approval than if you stay with him. I suppose I probably worded it badly. With the initial tent scene, if you approach Zevran, you can gain +22 approval. If you go down those same paths, with the only difference being ending it, you will still end up with positive approval -- something like +5, and if done early enough, he may look like he dodged a bullet (or maybe it was my mood that particular day and I saw something that wasn't there).

I would have liked more comments when I took my City Elf back into the Alienage, esp when I met my dad again and the two cousins. You'd think Zevran would say something about family, or even Alistair (after the thing with his sister). You'd think Alistair might even be a bit embarrassed that humans treat elves this way, esp if he's in love with the elf. Guess I need to imagine all of that.

I also wish there had been more party interaction when the PCs come across bits from their origins. I can see not so much for the Dalish (since it's not the same clan), and the Human (since all their people are dead), but more input re the CE and the Mage and Dwarf would be good.

I was just wondering what everyone does here IRL (just a random wondering, to see what sort of backgrounds we all have) Jobs/hobbies
I'm an environmental geologist/engineer. I make jewelry in spare time (sanity hobby taken up to destress after an hour commute). Also like to draw (pencil and india ink), but I'm VERY out of habit with the drawing...which is too bad since I have a half finished wyrm I would love to complete....

Wow, that fanfic....NSFW :-)
I COULD see, (now that I think about it) the warden staging a fight to drive Zevran off. After all she (he) will only live a short time, and Zevran could potentially have a very long life. Perhaps the warden would want to spare him her early death and so stage a breakup. THAT scenario I could see happening. I could also probably see something happening if an HN warden married Alistair and has Zevran on the side. How long could he take that, especially as I would imagine the warden and Alistair could grow very close as friends during that time, and have all their common warden stuff to also share.

Aha! I just want to correct this because it makes me happy when I know something ejoslin doesn't.
The most approval you can get is +23, not +22 (hey that point could matter!).
"I want to talk to you about something... in private."
"It wouldn't be private if we discussed it out here."
"Fine. Get in my tent, no questions."
"I say it's about damned time."
With the conversation afterward I think only one part affects approval. Go with keeping things as they've been.
Don't use this if you want to keep his approval down!

I'm still a student- it's my last semester. *sigh* I was being so good about school up until now. I even put off playing DA:O for an entire month after it came out because I needed to study. It was terrible! But all that has gone down the drain now, and I have no motivation for school left whatsoever.
As for hobbies- other than the fact that school leaves me with no time for them, I really enjoy drawing. I also enjoy writing, though I'm no good at it, and most of my childhood was spent imagining fantasy worlds and inventing languages... Yeah, I have a really geeky side. =P
