What's the (Romantic) Appeal of Zevran?

Ah, I got kicked out of college when I first discovered online ..... But that was at the beginning of my college career and not the last semester! (Congrats on being close to the end though!) Even without being obsessed with a game, I found the last semester of college to DRAG on.......at that point all I wanted to be was DONE! (except for paying student loans)

I've been so bothered with the 'twice attempt' on the warden by Zevran, and not just a little disturbed by the betrayal. So I decided to publish my journal entry (not the main one) on that thought. It's right here:

Go read it. I demand that you read it... pretty please /whine
I just want some feedback. Does it sound like it could be?
Be gentle, I've never let anything else of mine into the public eye. I'm not English, so this is kind of scary. Thanks again, Ejoslin.

You CAN gain approval telling him that, but it's far less approval than if you stay with him. I suppose I probably worded it badly. With the initial tent scene, if you approach Zevran, you can gain +22 approval. If you go down those same paths, with the only difference being ending it, you will still end up with positive approval -- something like +5, and if done early enough, he may look like he dodged a bullet (or maybe it was my mood that particular day and I saw something that wasn't there).
Aha! I just want to correct this because it makes me happy when I know something ejoslin doesn't.
The most approval you can get is +23, not +22 (hey that point could matter!).
"I want to talk to you about something... in private."
"It wouldn't be private if we discussed it out here."
"Fine. Get in my tent, no questions."
"I say it's about damned time."
With the conversation afterward I think only one part affects approval. Go with keeping things as they've been.
Don't use this if you want to keep his approval down!
@jaulen
I'm still a student- it's my last semester. *sigh* I was being so good about school up until now. I even put off playing DA:O for an entire month after it came out because I needed to study. It was terrible! But all that has gone down the drain now, and I have no motivation for school left whatsoever.
As for hobbies- other than the fact that school leaves me with no time for them, I really enjoy drawing. I also enjoy writing, though I'm no good at it, and most of my childhood was spent imagining fantasy worlds and inventing languages... Yeah, I have a really geeky side. =P
*grin* I stand corrected! All the ways to get Zevran into that tent -- it's so nice that he approves of it so much! I wonder why he approves so much less if you wait for him to do the asking . .. well, I suppose because it wouldn't make much sense for him to go from 71 to 100 in one encounter . . .
Edit: And I'm a housewife with a house that is far messier than it should be since playing this game -- and a very patient family!

Yeah, both of those scenarios make sense. Considering my CE kinda did the first one to Alistair by sparing Loghain, I wonder if he would ever to it to Zevran... eek.Raiynsong wrote...
I COULD see, (now that I think about it) the warden staging a fight to drive Zevran off. After all she (he) will only live a short time, and Zevran could potentially have a very long life. Perhaps the warden would want to spare him her early death and so stage a breakup. THAT scenario I could see happening. I could also probably see something happening if an HN warden married Alistair and has Zevran on the side. How long could he take that, especially as I would imagine the warden and Alistair could grow very close as friends during that time, and have all their common warden stuff to also share.
Great little story, Sabriana! Thanks for sharing it!
Hmm, as for the real world, I'm a computer programmer XD I have way too many hobbies for common sense, but besides a few games (RPGs, music games), I collect dolls, make them up as characters from my (original) writing, and take lots of pictures of them. :B I also make jewelry and sew, and read a lot of fantasy fiction. XD;; Among other things!

Hmm, yes, I could also see the Warden wanting to drive off Zev after awhile knowing that the Warden will be going to the deep roads to die. Would Zev take a romanced-post blight-post long time romance as easily as he does an earlier stage romace break up? I'm wondering if he'd be as "Well if that's the way it has to be" at that later stage.

As far as the 30 years are concerned, my Warden (actually, all of them) told him the truth, and he is well aware of her life span. It is his choice, and I do think he rather have 30 years with her than be alone again. I can also imagine that he will go into the Deep Roads with her, either with, or without her consent.
Hopefully something will come along that will increase the life-span of a GW. Such as drinking white flower tea once a day for the rest of her life, but Zevran deserves to have someone who views him as the center of the universe, even if it is for only 30 years. Give or take.

And now I have to go and play the game or something. Because I just read the newest "Zevran" thread, and I am a tad... irked. Heck. I'm a lot irked. Addai tried her best, but those people make me doubt that true insight into other peoples psyche exists.
Yes, in RL I'm a psychologist. And escape into a fantasy realm is actually a good thing usually, don't you know.

Ok. I'll do it. I've wrestled with it long enough, and besides, Ejoslin was gracious enough to proof-read.

Yes. I agree. A shallow look at a deep character makes them very superficial. This is very bothersome. Leliana is so much worse, but she is never viewed that way, 'cause chick-licks are hawt.

Of course not. Why would I? Creature, I've posted my take on the situation that bothers you in this thread. If you look at it differently, that is your right. If I had an issue with you, I would say so. Please, don't ever think I would take back-handed swings at you, or anybody else.
Please, do relax. Nobody faults you for your view on things. Why should they? We can debate them, but trust me, I'll never resort to back-handed jibes.

careful Sabriana you might bring the rabid Leliena fans into this topic to try and defend her with comments like that :3

You give me a very good idea, CZ. Let's see how a "justifying Leliana' thread will wake some people up.
They'll take it as "oh look the Zevran lovers are here to defend him by shifting blame onto Leliana"...
@Creature, no one here was dismissing your opinion. If it seemed like we were all responding at you, it's because you raised a good point that we felt should be discussed. There are many different ways to look at Zevran (as with any of the characters), and naturally everyone will see things in their own way. The fact that, from what I understand, you can see the very bad things in him but still find the good things as well is really wonderful. It just seems like many of the people in the other thread can't see past the surface and actually consider why his character would be that way, which is why it's disappointing.
