First of all, it's worth learning French just to get that line (well, almost).  His line is a bit more assertive in English -- "and I'm not about to let that happen," but still, I like "over my dead body," better.  The way you get Zevran to make you choose is to talk to him first when they both are at adore.

Thank you! Posted Image And is there a way to make Zevran asking you in your tent first? Is this the massage thingie?
Because I really liked when Alistair asks you out of nowhere. I did it on purpose but now I want to try with Zev.

Yes, it's the massage dialog.  You get Zevran over 71 and he'll ask.  You get Alistair over 91 and he'll ask.

Edit: It is so much easier to get Zevran over 71 than Alistair over 91.  And he appreciates the tent time much more as well.

I would advise you to give it a try seriously. His story is very touching even if you don't romance him. As a friend he's such a loyal companion and a funny dude to have around.

Also I have a question for you guys. I really want Zevran to ask me to choose between him and Ali. But it's always that Ali asking me Posted Image Does that mean I must romance Ali first and then, Zevran? Because in that playthrough, I started things up with Zev quite quickly (reaching him to I guess what you call "Adore" on PC, very fast with presents and conversations). Should I start with Ali first so Zev asks me to choose? Should I mention both Zev and Ali were 100% approval when Ali asked me to choose. Thanks a lot!

Not how it worked for me.  My mage girl, horny as she was fresh out of that fricking prison of a Circle Tower, jumped into bed with Zevran at almost the first opportunity.  But all in all she was a goody-two-shoes, and Alistair being the puppy-dog he is, she was soon getting doe-eyed looks from him, too.  However it was Zevran first who asked that she choose between them.  Really the "you have to choose" dialogue was happening simultaneously with both of them, it just depended who I approached first which one cornered me.  Ha, there was one point where she was avoiding both of them just to not have to deal with it!  So much like real life!  LOL

As others have said, if you plan to choose Alistair over Zevran, let Zev down first before telling Alistair he's the guy.  You will not take as hard a hit with Zev.

I'm definitely one who naturally prefers Alistair's character, but for whom Zevran has grown on me the more I have understood his character.

And what about after Ali dumps you? I have an old save there and I completely forgot to go back to Zev. Is it true he picks up the pieces? Because I was kinda romancing both and never talked to Ali to make me choose LOL! Just wanted to experience the thing.

I could not pick up Ali over Zev now that I know them both. However, I really tried (and saved) so many times to talk to Zev first but I always got the normal lines (Questions/Personal questions/Nothing).

I also want to try this second earring thingie! I was so happy to get it the first time that I could never say no to it. Posted Image

But the second time . . . oh, trust me, it is so worth it.  In fact, I actually did turn it down the first time without knowing about the second offering (I was annoyed with him for not admitting his feelings -- then again, I also had told Alistair to go kill himself so I get heartless when I feel scorned with these pixel guys I guess), and he offered it again, and realized ALL he was offering with it (I am not saying just in case you don't know), I about fell off my chair.  And smiled for a few hours (embarassing).

Hm. Were you maybe getting Alistair too hot and bothered? My character was nice to him, but still putting him off in terms of a romance. Like she told him "it's too soon to tell" when he asked if she could feel the same for him (he laid a big smacker on her anyway!). And like I said, I got the "you have to choose" dialogues with them both at the same time.

However, there is that one particular moment where one of Zev's line is far more intense in the French version than the English one. It's when he meets Taliesen again. I think the English non-betrayal Zev says: "And I won't let that happen" where as in French, he literally says: "huh... over my dead body!" I know this expression in English could sound a bit agressive but in French, it meant more of a "Ok I will stop the train before it touches a single hair on your head" soooooooooo protective Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image That was way too cute! Awwww Posted Image j'aime Zevran!

Would you mind giving me the line he says in the French version?  I speak French, would love to see it!  Posted Image

That is what happened in my first play through.  Alistair dumped my city elf, broke my heart.  Zevran wasn't even that high of approval with me -- high enough where he left the party when we were jumped by Taliesen, but that's it.  Fortunately, I had persuaded him to stay around for the treasure, and he was still romancable.  If you can still romance him, you can ask him if he stares at everyone that way.  And then I fed Alistair to the arch demon calling him a coward and telling him, when he was STILL just standing around giving a speech, "so go do it then!  I'll never forget you!"  Then reformed the gray wardens with Zevran.  Was great.

I know I am not the only Zevran obsessive around here and I have a question that I'm testing out, but maybe someone already knows. There are two versions of Zevran's "royal scandal" dialog. I've seen the second one, but have deleted that save game.

Anyway, I've been trying to trigger it, but I'm not sure if it comes at a less-than-100 approval or if it comes if you haven't completed the romance OR if it's before the talk where he tells you he wants to prevent your untimely death. The first one is where Zevran starts by asking the PC if she's heard the rumors about the queen having a elf lover on the side. The second one, he says he heard a rumor about a beautiful woman who may be becoming queen. I have a save game from the Taliesen encounter, but in order to test this that means I have to get to the landsmeet without talking to him. Which is doable, but time consuming.

Anyway, just for comic purposes, after Alistair agrees to marry you, whether you're romancing him or not, he has that talk about having an heir.  There's a couple of different dialog choices whether he's at Love or Friendly, but both have the option, when he says, we won't be able to produce an heir, you can answer, "Well, not YOUR heir!"  His answers are great.  I always liked the thought of Zevran's baby ending up heir, though you know that won't happen in the sequel!

Edited to make it a bit more readable and add a pointless paragraph.

Thanks! Can't wait to see that. Now I'm at my first playthrough (actually fourth... 1. Forgot Lelianna 2. Playstation died, had to buy a new game and console 3. Forgot to save the only one time I wanted to start a romance with Zevran and now 4th Posted Image) and I'm at that point where the archdemon breaks the bridge and leave Zevran out of my party Posted Image

Wow, you LEFT him? I tried to leave him once, but then he said, "To be by your side, I'd storm the gates of the dark city, do not doubt it!" while looking so heartbroken I just couldn't do it.  So I reloaded.  Where of course he said, "By your side, I'd storm the gates . . . "  No way he ever gets left!

No no! I took him at the gate... then went on the first battle at the market, then the battle at the alienage. After that, you have a cutscene where the Archdeamon flies down to your party and breaks the brigde. Alistair, Wynne and I on one side and Zevran stuck on the other one. He can't follow me anymore.

Really?  I never had that happen.  I did once get my PC stuck on the scenery, I eventually started running everyone back to the nearest area transition to see if she'd pop back into her spot if I left the area.  She suddenly warped in and was right there with everyone else.  Try transitioning and see if he reappears.

Zoning? Maybe I'm not far enough to get what you mean. After that cutscene, I must take on the invasion at the gate with the other group. But I was tired and went to bed. So maybe there's something I don't know about coming up.

It happened to me too. Wynne got stuck, but warped back at the next area transition. I'm so glad it wasn't Zevran, that would've upset me very much. Panicked me even :)

I never knew what was meant by "Mary-Sue". I was sure it was something negative, but thanks for the explanations. Especially Creature. I too bow to you in awe. You had me in stitches.
