I apparently made someone very angry this morning -- before lunch, even, which is unusual for me! ANYWAY, hmmmm, back to Zevran squee. I have him at 17 neutral. Eamon is revived, Alistair now knows he's going to be put forward as king, and I still need to have the after discussion about where the relationship is going. Do I dump him now? Or wait until Zevran forces the choice. Or, oddly, do I not romance Zevran this game and instead get the poor elf dumped at the landsmeet?

Heh, like I could go a play through without romancing Zevran. Hmmmmm.

Edit: Gah, no, I'm wrong.  That's the after SEX comment with alistiar.  The 3-way is "I'm a weak, weak man."  That may actually be more appropriate too!

I always have Zevran forcing the choice, I just love the way he tries to make it sound as if all he has in mind is Alistair's happiness. Then comes the big sigh of relief. Liar.

Poor Alistair, what the chantry did to that young man..., shame on them.

Ejoslin you wouldn't happen to remember where the US Zevran epilogue is here? I know I saw it here somewhere but I can't remember where. I don't think I'll get any peace until the a certain someone can see the epilogue with his own eyes.

I am not which is why I must stay out of the other thread.



In my family to pass the time we play what if. My favorite was one time I asked my brother if he had to choose between - ummm well I better not post that it is very graphic and while not in any way meant to be homophobic, being a sister I knew exactly which buttons to press to get the hilarious response from him that I got.



But one of the what ifs we have played was based off that movie where bad guys take a family hostage on a boat It sparked a what if what would some of our survival options be. Cracking mirrors and wrapping large shards in cloth to make knives using pens to impale people, and I have always stated in such situations if I thought I could use sex as a tool to engineer my escape or the death of my captor I wouldn't hesitate, I never considered it rape though, repugnant, but not rape after all I did have the option of dying with dignity, of choosing the "honorable path" but thats not me I would use every weapon at my disposal to ensure my survival and it NEVER occurred to me to consider my choice as the bad guy raping me. It was always me using my tools to ensure survival, me getting the upper hand and then using it to conquer. I think this is why I never even paused to consider that Zevran raped his marks. I still see the argument as invalid and unjustified but that comes from my perspective. Personally I bet Zev would find the idea of rape abhorrant and totally beneath him.



But I am also the kind of person that feels if a woman gets drunk and has sex with a guy while drunk and then regrets it the next day and calls it rape is a stupid girl who got what was coming to her. She can regret it all she wants but it wasn't rape if she never said no and got herself into the state of intoxication.



Zev is one of the best characters and while his views on sex can be disturbing due to his past and his morals skewed at times one thing that can be said with certainty is that he is not a rapist and never has been. If at any time the woman would have asked him to stop he would have with alacrity. Sex was just as much a tool to the marks as it was to him and becuase they used it to their advantage- albeit not always successfully, to lay the title of rapist at Zevs door is unfair and hogwasherry.



But I have been told my views are odd myself. Maybe that is why it is so easy for me to see the value in Zev and spare his life every time for one excuse or another.

Edit: And thank you, FrostaJulie.  I think so many people are forgetting what Antiva is like -- I agree that Zevran is not a rapist (obviously).  I'm glad that there IS a thread devoted to that topic, though!

Does that mean he does the "I'm a weak weak man AFTER the 3-way ?" and does the PC have to be a rogue ? And when does he say "I"m a bad bad man?" You said "after sex" I never got that comment--he has either turned me down(for 1 on 1) or asked me (when in love). So I'm wondering how to get that response this time round.

Alistair has to be hardened, and I believe in love (not sure about the second).  When he agrees, he goes in saying, "What can I say? I'm a weak, weak man."  The PC can be anything, as long as she has enough coercion to pass the initial "persuade" check (I can't imagine it's a difficult check, though).

Afterwards, Isabela asks if she can start renting Alistair for a week during the summer.

Edit: "I'm a bad, bad man," is the standard after-sex conversation with Alistair.

Second edit: Immediately after walking back to the fire afterwards, he starts talking about how the chantry taught he should have been struck down by lightning, he's a bad, bad man.

@Sabriana: I have a save right before the friend ending. I can pull it up later if no one beats me to it. I'm spending time shooting aliens with my son and husband at the moment. There are only two controllers, so I'm waiting my turn and trying not to whine about wanting my Zev fix.

Ooh, I "accidentally" turned on the Alistair romance when I got to Redcliffe. Used the "I liked you before, and not because of your blood" line. Well after Redcliffe, back at camp, Zev confronted me, and by the gods ladies you were right.



To me it seemed like he thought he didn't deserve to be happy, and the face and vocal inflection nearly killed me to boot. Needless to say I turned down Alistair, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Got a -1 Approval from him before I went to talk to him, and no more negative approval after I told him "Thank you for understanding." Then I gave him his mother's amulet because his kicked puppy face pulls at me too hard.



Off to Denerim now and the Landsmeet!

Argh I missed that option, I'll have to do that  on my HNF after I get back and after I finished Awakenings, which comes out the day after I get  back from my  lovely 9 day Caribbean cruise. Unfortunately I don't have a laptop, so I will be suffering from DA:O withdrawl something fierce.

My sweet Crow is at +100 adore. The funny thing is though after he gave me the "choose" talk, I got the poem again. I guess this might be because I am running the DT mod, but it was great to see it again.

Gooooood morning! And I say it's a good morning because David finally posted to clear up all this crap that's been wreaking havoc in the forums! I finally feel safe enough to look and post on the boards again...

Someday I've got to get in on this Alistair threesome. You know the guy wants it (who wouldn't?!) and heck, it's sweet to give him some good experiences before sending him off to Morrigan, right? :innocent:

In response to the lightning line, I always choose "It could still happen." His answer is adorable. Gah, everything Alistair says makes me want to fall in love with him. His voice is like a drug. But then I take one step back, see Zevran, and thoughts of Alistair get wiped from my brain. *sigh* Someday I'm going to have to suck it up, repeat to myself "Alistair, not Zevran, Alistair," and settle with becoming a mistress... Just, not any day soon...

And good news, I finally made a mage I actually want to play! Not to mention she's ridiculously gorgeous. So now I have my HN to finish, 3 new characters to start, and my CE to replay before Awakening comes out... Riiiiiight...

Yeah, he often ends up giving it twice even in vanilla. A little strange, but ah well. He's just trying really hard to cheer you up.

Nono, if you hit 71 adore, you get the poetry reading -- or with Alistair, you get the first kiss. IF you choose Zevran while talking to Zevran or Alistair when talking to Alistair, you get those dialogs again. It works better with Zevran for sure.

hah, too bad there's no flag there to stop that from happening.  *sigh* I actually don't mind, but the Alistair one is SO weird.

egads im lame

so I ended up buying Avenum 6 for PC since iv been waiting for the pc version to come out but like the previous games in the series I hated the portraits ALOT and I ended up making a duel weilding thief complete with Zevrans name and portrait as one of my party members :E (even though elves dont exist in that series just humans/cat people/lizardmen)

For research, I killed off my HNF.  It was the quickest and dreariest end game I've ever played.  I didn't even loot anything, that tells you how bad it is!

The ending slide for Zevran (this is a Friend ending):

"Zevran traveled for a time, trying to remain as far from the Crows as possible.  When they finally came for him, Zevran elected to take the fight to their doorstep, returning to Antiva.  After four master assassins disappeared, the Crows re-admitted Zevran- as their leader.  He was never sure if it was victory or defeat."

nope im playing both games on and off

but im inserting an elven romantic love interest into a game into a game with no elves! (hes a pointy eared human with a tan in a game where there are no pointy eared humans and every ones skin tone is pasty white!)

iv done it before though in the same series in avernum 4 I ran around with Xena warrior princess and Cheetara from thundercats

Addai67, thank you so much for that. It's almost but not quite as depressing as the romance ending. It does indicate that he was a colder person when not romanced, so he doesn't break quite as badly.
