Oh I loaded up a previous save to see what the reaction was, to try to figure out if it's worth replaying all that stuff.

Here are the dialogue options needed to get the proposal, BUT I should note than I don't seem to have Zevran's ring in my plot inventory with this proposal, where as with my regular "lol thx i hart u" reaction, I got the ring but no proposal.

Here... it seems an appropriate moment to give you this.
--> You don't need to give me anything.
--------> This is a bit out of the blue, isn't it?
----------> So... not a token of affection, then?
------------->I'll only take it if it means something.

Go back to the camp, talk to Zevran:
I did not thank you... So thank you.
--> We are friends, Zevran. I was glad to do it.
----> I think of you as more than a friend.

Talk to him again, ask him to join you in the tent for sexy time:
No, I... no. I mean no offense, I simply... no.
--> All right. Sorry I asked. (I think most of the answers will work here)

Talk to him again.. ask him something personal.
--> You seem different now.
----> Are you having second thoughts about us?
------>Are you saying you're in love with me?
--------> I do. And I feel the same way. *End Conversation* No ring.
--------> I am no wiser than you in that area, Zevran.
----------> I don't know. But I know how I feel about you. *Proposal*
------------> That sounds like a proposal.
--------------> I'll take it. *End conversation*

And Addai67, I swear, I know more about the Alistair romance than most Alistair fangirls, so of course it makes sense than you know more about Zevran and his approval than I would.  It takes someone who does not have that emotional attachment to make those hard dialog choices!

But you, I'd put more as a fangirl of both, with Alistair leanings, just like, as CZ suggested, I'm a fangirl of both with a Zevran bias.

I am a fangirl of both, definitely.  I would say it is because I'm an RPer at heart and my character moves me along.  Last night I re-loaded a few saves from my city elf just for nostalgia's sake, and since she was the character where I "discovered" the Zevran romance, I get chills from some of the key scenes there.  I enjoy Zevran so much more on characters I feel "get" him.

On that note, a little celebratory squee-ing over the fact that my casteless dwarf female now has the Antivan assassin in camp.  She has enjoyed talking shop with him.  Other than Dwyn, she hasn't really been able to talk to anyone on the surface and I think she is quite lonely without her sister or any other dwarves.  Alistair's high-mindedness makes her nervous and she doesn't know what to make of Leliana or Morrigan.  But Zevran, now this is someone she can talk to.  I chose assassin as her first specialization and figure that because she is such a pretty young woman, she was being groomed to be an assassin by Beraht though never got far with the training.  Sort of the dark counterpart of Rica.  The fact that Zevran keeps telling her how beautiful she is, well, that she finds intriguing though she is still suspicious of it.  Not necessarily that he is trying to set her up, though she can't discount that possibility, but more that he is using empty flattery to secure his position in her group.  She doesn't know the first thing about elves- likely had never seen an elf before leaving for the surface- and can't yet believe that he honestly finds her attractive.

No worries, I am too. It takes me a long time just getting the inventory right, sorting out what I don't need, having to run from point A to point B and back because I forgot something. But I don't mind, I love playing the game. Besides, the more running around my PC has to do, the more she can gaze at Zevran.

Edited: Too slow. I was talking to Charsen, of course :)

Yeah, Cammen. I really want to like him, but that face... I looked at that mod, but it changes a whole lot of stuff, so I'm a bit apprehensive about it. I wish there was a stand-alone 'make Cammen look better' mod.

well the older version(which I have) of project dragon age redesigned has a stand alone cammen in it and he does look better if you want I can try send you it

Oooh, I've never tried that! So the shopkeeper won't decide you're a terrible person like he does if you tell Cammen exactly what he needs to hear to suck it up and work harder? I still don't see what's so bad about that. For goodness' sake I was way ****ier to Sarel but no one cared about that.

It's so weird switching from an elf who hates everything human to a human who can't stand the elves... As it is the Dalish are annoying her so much that only Zevran will be able to save them from their doom. Doesn't hurt that it'll be a much needed approval boost from him... /images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png

really just try it that entire conversation path is hilarious since you make him out to be like Zevran before he met rinna and she goes balistic

Oh I got the conversation pretty wrong (bad, bad memory!) but it's still interesting.

Sarel is apologizing for being rude, saying that he let his emotions cloud his better judgment. So it goes:
Sarel: It is most difficult to forget the lessons the Shemlen have taught us.
Zevran: It is even more difficult when you live amongst them, trust me.

Oh Zevran, you try so hard to hide your resentment. =P

And yes, I believe the new version of DA Redesigned still has modded Cammen. THANK GOD. He's actually kinda cute with it, enough that I've actually slept with him before (lol it's too fun telling Gheyna they had sex XD), though I still get horrible flashbacks of that hideous face.

Some thoughts about the early assassin dialogues.  Listening to them through the ears of my casteless dwarf, herself a budding assassin, I noticed some things.

My feeling is that some of the responses Zevran gives in these early dialogues are rote.  He is repeating the stock training of the Crow, as well as those maxims that have helped him survive.  It's like he's feeling his way in the dark, given the new life he's embarking on, and the Warden's responses help him learn whether or not there is another path, and if it is a path he can trust to take.

Take for example the dialogue that upsets many people, where he talks about the satisfaction of "sinking your blade into their flesh and knowing their life is in your hands."  It makes more sense to me if you consider that his life has been so powerless, that he has so little control over anything in it, and that from childhood he's been taught that he is good for nothing else than this (another idea he tests out on the Warden, when talking about whether the PC can picture him doing anything else).  So is it surprising that in the moment he knows he's making a successful kill, that he would feel both satisfaction and a certain relief at being able to control something?  If you tell him in response that he is a sick person, he responds "I am?"  He doesn't try to deny it, nor even seem surprised, since the Warden is only confirming his darker suspicions of himself.  The irony is that most people who do this probably think they're being noble when they say that, when they're actually putting themselves in the same place as the Crows who twisted him in the first place.

Right before that he also says that he finds himself the instrument of fate and consoles himself that most of his marks had it coming.  I take it that people who react badly to this dialogue don't even hear the fact that he has to console himself about anything.

People who respond badly to that conversation just hear the highlights, and there's no point arguing about it. There will people who just hate Zevran on GP and there's no way that they'll be talked out of it.

Actually, if you tell him he's sick, he deflects it, and he does that SO rarely with the warden. "I am? I'm often told I'm a sick, sick man, most often in bed, strangely enough." I can only think of one other instance where he uses sex as a deflection with the warden, and that's during the Rinna story. There probably are more instances, but only if you take the really bad dialogs, and I always take the middle of the road ones.

I said I wanted this, so here's the question.
Are you just really good in making screens or does he talk to you before you kill the Archdemon, just how do you get that look on his face?

@Cuddlezarro, any luck with that Forge Master?

That's exactly it. I've been trying to get that across to people, but they don't listen to the words, just the whole sentence. Now, that sounds weird, but there are words sneaking into his conversations that make it clear to my PC that he's not a cold killer at all. And since the fade and the gauntlet we all know that there is far more to the man than he lets on. He does use flippant remarks, and I firmly believe that the 'festering wound' story was about himself. He is to quick to say, "oh no, not me."

The wood nymphs know the truth. He's not above outright denial by using falsehoods.

CZ, I would appreciate that. Like one poster said somewhere, the poor boy fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart CZ. Got it, and it'll go into my override post-haste.

Have fun playing. I've got to go to sleep soon. Almost 10 p.m. here. Bleh.

Yes! That's exactly how I always felt about it! The way he delivers his line about enjoying killing, it just never sounded sincere to me. Not that I think he didn't enjoy it at all, but the way he says it... It sounds too much like something he's told himself (or been told) over and over, a line that he reverts to because it comes out without requiring thought. I don't see anything in his expression, or hear anything in his voice, that matches with the cruelty of the words. There's a total disconnect.

It's a cut scene from when you kill the Archdemon and your character tries to pull the sword out. My character did the Dark Ritual, I'm not sure if it's the same with Ultimate Sacrifice ending. Zevran was also a character #2, (your PC being the first), I suppose it might matter.

You're right, that I didn't see that. (very late, very tired)
I need some sleep. x.x

Lol then that's your own fault! I would use those, but I'm not always so excited about combat that I want to make it harder on myself. But yes, that fight is hard. I actually had to use a health potion during it- even the Broodmother didn't need any! XD

Got a good archer with you? Just shoot something at him that he hates really helps. I fired arrow of slaying (and missed) he came after my archer and started beating her up with his maul/axe/whatever. They say his maul is worse than his archery skills, but I prefer close combat so I didn't mind.

Zevran got 22 str points, he can finally look hot in ancient elven armor! Posted Image

Where that Ash Wrath (or something) appears, after the room with the Balista traps.

So I was checking how incredibly hot he looks in that armor when suddenly one of my cats makes a terrible noise (first time she's in heat)... and all I could think was 'yeah, me too.'Posted Image

Thanks again CZ. I guess I have my PC and her gang trudge back there. Meh, maybe I have them slay the dragon while they're there. Although I must admit, I have a hard time justifying that. The poor thing is only trying to protect its nestlings, after all.

You find 'nightmare' too easy? I stare in wide-eyed wonder. I can barely make some parts on 'normal'.

Edited to thank Ramante too. For the tip and for the laugh.

OMG I just killed Wynne !

I am playing a mage this round and a healer to boot (well, heals plus cc and some dps. it's a fun char the way she is specced. And I just didnt want Wynne with me. I wanted some diff chars in the fade this time round. I couldn't figure out any way to leave her out of group. At least I couldn't find any dialog options. So I get a -5 from Alistair, but that's it. Hopefully I can still save the mages rather than destroy the tower.

I feel a little guilty. But it was also oddly satisfying :P

My cat thinks he looks better in ancient elven armor. <3

And I can't get used to the modded hair, it doesn't work for me.

The disguise armor is very nice.. and I love his 'I'm yours'.
