Yeah, Tamlen's the only problem I have with the DE origin, despite being on my 3rd Dalish Female.. But at least there is some closure later.

I think this is why I may play my mage next instead, since I believe she'll be much better at handling the relationship. And she's a virgin, which is fun... :innocent:

LOL  We're all playing virgin-esque characters at the moment, what's up with that.  I guess I just take one look at the offerings in the Circle Tower and figure there's little temptation, especially for an elf who had bad experiences as a young girl with the whole humans-being-attracted-to-elves thing.

Ah, poor Tamlen. I hated him the first time I tried the DE origin, but a little modding and bam! suddenly I can imagine that my DE really is in love with him. Totally agreed, though, that the DE specific events need more substance.
It's such a heartwrenching story but it probably requires the most
RPing to handle. I haven't started my DE yet, but she has me a little worried. I'm pretty sure she's going to romance Zevran, and I'm rather afraid she'll screw it all up due to a terrible emotional state after seeing Tamlen again...

Oh, I can certainly understand. My DE was completely unnerved and had a breakdown after seeing Tamlen again. So much that I had to take a break from playing period. She came *this close* to screwing up her romance with Zevran because for the first time, she actually felt really close to Alistair given what happened. She really should have been better prepared for it but since she'd been to the Urn Temple prior to that, she thought she'd had closure. So not the case...

I'm thinking it's because I spoiled myself inadvertantly with the dalish origin. I don't know if my dalish could take to see Tamlen again, and I have an inkling that she would feel terribly guilty and have an retro-active hate toward Duncan. She is way to complicated for me to make sense of right now. I wish I hadn't read that post about Tamlen.

I know, I know, the dwarf girl is something I've never played before. I love dwarfs, but not as PCs. It sounds weird, but there you have it. But this one actually is very pretty. Perhaps it's because the origin all but requires her to be so young. I have problems playing teenagers, in my opinion they are just not mature enough to go through the whole thing unscathed. *sigh*.

I also have a mage in mind who truly hates the chantry, the templars and everything about the Tower. I'm looking forward to Wynne with her. I might do the blood mage, but I'll definitely make her feel disdainful toward Wynne, Irving, and the whole lot. She'll be one po'd mage, and needs Zevran to keep her on an even keel.

My poor city elf this time -- heh, she took Alistair's virginity. She teased Alistair and said she had never licked a lamppost, and when he told her he hadn't either, she told him, "You haven't? I was kidding." He's so good natured though.

After the conversation about bribery in another thread, I realized just how few gifts are actually Zevran specific compared to the other companions. I actually never give him the bars, but I wonder why there are so few. In a different game, I was actually able to get Alistair up nearly 90 points with gifts alone.

*eeps*

What triggers the Tamlen re-encounter?
I just went through the gauntlet and saw Tamlen there (I know he appears again in another area), and I swear I had tears in my eyes at seeing him again. Poor Tamlen!

And my DE defiled the ashes (dang the Chantry and all that). And Wynne left us. *yeah!*

And Sten tried to attack my DE in Haven, funny that. My little DE girl takes out Sten, I laughed at how he actually looked/sounded suprized (especially when it went to his capitulation cut scene and he's still fountaining blood from the back of his head), but I kept him around. The Death Squad needs Sten. But now Sten has the highest approval of all my companions (+& for beating Sten into a pulp!)....(it used to be Wynne). Alistair is now positively nuetral, but he's still sitting at +3.

Finishing up Brecillian Forest tonight.

edit: @ejos (below): Thanks!
Only have the Circle Tower as a treaty quest finished completely. My DE has been a little scatter brained and running from hither and yon doing bits and pieces of everything.

You should trigger Tamlin when you've finished 4 of the 5 treaty quests.

Yeah, don't spoil yourself, Jaulen. I did, and after reading the spoiler post I thought it couldn't be any worse to watch it on YouTube. Boy was I wrong. That's why my dalish is on ice. I have no idea how this would play out. To call it heart-breaking is a gross understatement.

As for Zevran gifts, perhaps the devs thought that his approval can be raised so easily that no more gifts are needed. Heck, if romanced, his approval raises by +1 every time the PC goes 'tenting'. So in actuality, the more sex he has with his Warden, the deeper he feels. Much to his own surprise.

Well, mine are all humans. I do like their kiss. He smiles at her, puts his arm around her middle and pulls her head toward him. I do hate that he keeps his eyes open, but the player only sees that if the PC has flat hair. So now my PCs get non-flat hair, and I can just pretend.

Hmm... sounds interesting, the elven kiss is nice but compared to Alistair kissing my human noble; not so much. I prefer some hand action or something. xD

I got one human noble romancing Alistair... I could dump him or I could start another playthrough, but that's not very smart 'cause I have to finish the 5 I allready have. What to do, what to do. Maybe start a new mage playthrough, but I don't like playing as a mage, though if I'm playing as a mage I don't need Wynne.

I vote for dumping Alistair   You can still marry him if you want to be queen, all that's required is he doesn't hate your warden!

I can't dump him and still marry him ánd romance Zevran all in one playthrough. I feel guilty just thinking about it. o.o'

I'm thinking about dumping my DE or MHN... I just can't play as a male character. ._.
My first rogue playthrough is almost done, I'm 'storming the castle' in that one so, I'm making room for a new playthrough.

Ahhh I never knew that was a response, since my CE was always perfectly blunt about her ways... Not that Alistair couldn't have figured it out, since she'd been all over Zevran since his first time in camp...

The lack of gifts thing really worries me with my HN because I may not be able to get Zevran up to "friendly" status by the end, which would bum me out big time. At least they're making amends, and I'll bring him along to Howe's mansion to try and squeeze some approval out of him. =P

And the Tamlen thing is depressing. I haven't seen what he looks like, but I know the gist and I know it would have a major impact on her. Enough so I already know exactly what point she'd screw things up with Zevran, and I don't really want to face that right now...

My mage is a much happier character (I'm just so excited to finally have one I want to play!). She's an elf and a mage, so she's pretty low on the social ladder, but she's still so optimistic and upbeat. She and Zevran have very similar personalities, though she's not so into killing...
And the virgin thing is definitely because I have no idea who she would have gotten with in that stupid tower... She'll have fun with her freedom and be plenty flirtacious, but deep down she always prays the boys will get scared off by it, since she really has no idea how to actually go about things... Zevran will be an interesting eye-opener for sure.

*grin* You DO get a better ending (I think) if you never romance him.  The dumped Alistair stays in love, and that makes even me feel guilty!  I did that once, had my Cousland rebuilding the Grey Wardens with Zevran, while Alistair who adored his new bride stayed at the castle.  Ugh.  I LIKE Alistair and that ending felt horrible.

But still, she WAS with Zevran, and that made up for a lot

Zevran and gifts . . . you may not be able to get him high enough, really.  Hmmmm, I think it's 17 + 12 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 6.  So definitely high enough to not be betrayed, but unless he's doing some serious approving when you take him with you (and that is definitely a possibility -- I always seem to get increases just by taking him out and about), you may never get him above 91+.

He never will charm her?  That sounds like a lonely playthrough :(

*wills self to not read the Tamlen post*

Although I do so like to KNOW what's going to happen. But since this is my first time through as a different Origin than CE....I am trying to play it as non-spoiler as possible.

I was pissy at the end of the CE Origin, and I actually CRIED at the end of the DE origin. So sad.

All my PC wanted to do was keep looking for Tamlen, and then Duncan has to conscript her. Really felt like shewas being kicked from the Clan, specially with how matter of fact the Keeper was about it (those two were in cahoots!). Plus, add in when you talk to everyone afterwards, and the song and cut scene...*ah, sad*

And on another note. Just finished reading the books this weekend. Meh to book one, book two was more interesting, could have done without the repeated 2-3 page descriptions of how fatigued spell casting was on Fiona....(so, she's like Wynne?) and there were two sad parts in the book to me that actually made me hitch, Nicholas and Julian, and Kell and *can't remember* his dog.

And the inconsistency in the timelines (book to game) totally tick me off.

The Architect looks like a very interesting addition to Awakenings.....

Oh, phew.  I thought it might have even been mine.  I know that Tamlen was a complete, utter, gut-wrenching surprise to me on my DE game.  I went through a couple tissues and just stared at the screen for a while.

Re. his appearance:  What is it with the game's major male elves all being blonde?  Soris excepted, there is Tamlen, Nelaros and Zevran.  It would have been great to have gotten a dark-haired hottie somewhere in there.  Of course, despite blondes not being my type, I came around quite well on Zevran and Nelaros.  For Tamlen, my DE saw it as a brother-sister relationship so I never really sonsider him from a romantic angle.

This is absolutely true. As a female elven mage you are as low as you can get on the social ladder. If you don't get attacked for being a mage they say something about you being an elf. And there is always Sten who tells you you are a woman... So life can't get better.

I cant dump Alistair... I really like his romance and he has given me the rose. If it was before the rose I could have dumped him. I'm really weak. XD

One thing is really annoying, my laptop is totally messed up, I can't watch youtube stuff because I'm missing adobe flashplayer. I have installed it 3 times since I noticed that, but still nothing. So I probably have to fix my laptop, but I'm afraid to lose my elven mage (and first Zevran romance). Argh!

You and I are working from similar concepts.  Our mages should get together- good times!  Her personality is colored for me by the fact that I chose the Suave voice.  She has the sweetest giggle when she starts battles, it is actually so funny that I can't stop LOL'ing when I hear it.  The contrast between her raining grease infernos, virulent bombs and Blood Wound on enemies while saying "aw, they try so hard" and "I got blood on me" is great.  Of course, it probably works for me because I'm of the camp that says blood magic is not inherently evil, so the idea that she's lighthearted while still being a juggernaut of death works for me.  Zevran also uses a Suave type voice, so I see their personalities as being similar.  They definitely laugh a lot.

As for being virginal, my backstory for her is that she grew up as the child of servants in Highever Castle and her magic was discovered when some male human servants decided to have some fun with the pretty elven girl.  So in addition to the Tower's dismal environment for romance, she had issues.  I see this tying in to the end game.  Post-game, she will go with Zevran and Alistair to Highever- to memorialize Duncan and to find her family.  She'll discover that they were killed in the massacre, but will re-connect with her childhood playmate, the teyrn's daughter Elissa, who did survive and will meet a certain new king via my mage.  I'm going to wrench as much happiness out of this ending as I can!  I'm glad I ended up romancing Alistair with her first, though.  She knew deep down that they weren't right for each other, the royal thing only confirmed it, but he was kind and she was lonely and I think it was good for both of them.  She'll always care about him and will be a good ally for his rule, but can actually have some sort of life with Zevran.

Hello neighbour, how is your cat doing? Posted Image

I have the same problem, I have started 3 dwarf playthroughs but it doesn't work for me. I reach Ostagar with them and that's it.

I wish Zevran would be available in Awakening, he is perfect for a Shadow specialization.

Lol, my cat is quite indignant because I dared hiding the chicken left-overs. In the fridge no less. I can see that she is contemplating that the people she owns are so..., well, contrary.

Neighbor? That's good to know. I know I could go to the German boards, but I find the international boards far more fascinating, And more satisfying. Even though I am quite sure that my English makes people laugh. Not the words, but the sentence structures. The English so insist on structuring their sentences all backward, rofl.

The sentence structures are really weird I give you that. During the game I sometimes have to check a dictionary because I have no idea what people want from me. XD

Ohh, the Netherlands. Love them, I truly do. For the Americans, that's our 'Spring Break'. Amsterdam, nothing can compare. Although my parents love Venlo. Lots of nice asparagus, lol.

Anyways, my warrior maiden has just taken her -1 ding in the deep roads. No biggie, she has not only plenty of generic gifts at camp, but his small gold and silver bars. I took him without Oghren, and boy it is even more heart-wrenching than I thought it could be. My PC stood aside and never struck a blow against Ruck but still. Oh I feel so bad for him.

Edited to thank Ejoslin. That's a very nice thing to say. :)
