"Rendon, I can't allow you to do this." Okay. Whatever Father and Howe were doing, it must be something illegal. Either that, or Howe had some blackmail on Father.
"Come on, Bryce. I want you. I need you. Give yourself to me." What? He didn't know that Arl Howe was a lover of men. Nor did he know that Howe was attracted to Father. Odd. Horace walked to the door, kneeling by it in order to hear what was happening.
"I'm not giving you my troops unless you sleep with me." Uh-oh. Arl Howe seemed to want Father more than Horace had previously thought. This wasn't right. Horace wanted to barge in on the conversation, but knew it was a stupid idea. Nobody would believe that he was sleepwalking. Horace only sleepwalked when he was younger. He was twenty-one now.
"Come on. My darling Bryce, I've showed you pleasures that Eleanor can't hope to match. Don't you want to feel them again?" Huh? How could two men have pleasures beyond that of a man and woman? This was odd. What kind of man was Arl Howe? All Horace had ever seen was the man that fought alongside Father. Perhaps Father saw a different side of him.
nstead, he heard Father moaning. It was the sound that Father made whenever he experienced carnal pleasures, which surprised Horace. What was going on? Was Father pleasuring himself? Why would Father pleasure himself in front of his door? Horace had no idea. All he knew was that he had to figure out what was happening before everything went badly. He knew that it would. Most war-situations always ended horribly.
He heard the sounds of clothes ripping off, and wondered why. Then he realized that Father and Arl Howe might be having a dalliance. Oh, this wouldn't bode well if he got up. "Oh! Right there, Rendon! Yeah, that's the spot. Mm, I love this." Horace felt his cheeks flush. So Father was having a dalliance with Arl Howe. Oh, he hadn't expected this. It was shocking to Horace. He'd always thought that Father would be above this base feeling.
He got back into bed, trying not to let Father's moans of pleasure get to him. Perhaps he could go to sleep and forget about all of this. Horace promptly fell asleep. He didn't remember his dream. Why would he? All his dreams involved fighting. He knew that his spirit would be going to the Fade, but that didn't matter.
