I finally beat the 'pidgeon crap' out of the high dragon. In the end it was Zev and my Warden who were still standing, Sten died twice and Shale died once. Zevran didn't do much, I had to Force Field him twice. xD

Addai, that song is hilarious!  I now have it firmly stuck in my head with the new version!  That last verse is a hoot! "I sleep with .........." LOL!!! tooo funny :-D

Hah...add this song, we have the makings of a musical!

When You're a Crow...

When you're a Crow, you're a Crow all the way
from your first time on the rack,
to your last dyin' day.

When you're a Crow
if the s*it hits the fan
It's only you
against their best man

Then you are set,
with a capital C
with fame, w**res, or booze,
(and some good jewelry!)
When you're a Crow
you stay a Crow

(aside) Zevran:  Unless of course, you happen to run into a Grey Warden who decides to spare your life

Well, she's always made her own choices, and sees Alistair as a bit of a fool, but kind-hearted. Not exactly a lovematch, but a good friend. Of course, when she learns he's Maric's illegitimate offspring, she'll begin planning to befriend him, not romance him, so she can work her way to the throne. She's no fool.

That's one of Ejoslin's prime play-throughs. I don't know, I might have been able to do it after my first game when Alistair unceremoniously dumps my silly mage in public, but because she fell right into Zevran's arms who put the pieces back together, I don't have too much scorn for Alistair.

Maybe I can have one of  mine get really upset at his "I forgot" line, and stay that way. Her revenge? Becoming King-consort (no romance), have Zevran as her lover, and become Teyrna of Gwaren. Yay for the Couslands, holders of the last two Teyrnies, and being the real power behind the throne.

Huh. Thought it seemed familiar. Now I know why. Must have "borrowed" ejoslin's playbook ;)

I like it so much, I'm doing it again.  If you don't romance him, then you get a better epilogue card.  ACTUALLY, I've noticed, you can romance Alistair, and if you dump him for another person, he loses the "still in love" flag.  She's flirting with both him and Zevran, but she will dump him for Zevran if his affection ever gets up that high.

Just FYI, Alistair will marry a HNF with approval as low as -24 (Neutral).  Yes, that's a minus sign.  The only HNF he won't marry is one in the hostile zone.

Edit: I'm still catching up, but I have to say, I LOVE this thread!  I am laughing so hard!

Good morning, Ejoslin. I know what you mean with 'catching up' I get that every morning I wake up. I see the Zevran vs Alistair thread lives again, so more catching up for me today.

How do you tell the difference of Alistair being still in love and just friendly? I thought he switches to friendly even before the break-up talk. I have to try and break up with him without being made to choose, but I always thought the PC will loose a lot of approval with him then.

Oh, ok, the ways to tell.  And only do the "forced to choose" if you want to drop the flag.  If you break up with him because you can't see it going anywhere, you don't lose approval and Alistair should stay "still in love."

If Alistair is "still in love," here are a couple differences:
Ask Eamon about Alistair and Anora getting married.  If Alistair is still in love, Eamon will mention the way Alistair looks at the warden is one reason why it may be difficult to convince him to marry Anora.
Morrigan, when proposing the dark ritual, will say something about Alistair watching the woman he loves die.
When talking to Alistair about Morrigan's offer, you will have the option to tell him your warden still loves him.

Eamon is the earliest sign, though.

Edit: Alistair's reaction to the engagement is the same if only "friendly" and "still in love", though it is a bit different with the "in love" flag.  Approval loss for "friendly" and "still in love" when telling him you're making an heir with someone else is still only -5 (as opposed to -15 if you tell him that while he's in love).  For s**ts and giggles you can always turn on the romance just before the landsmeet, and then tell virgin Alistair "Not for lack of trying" when the subject comes up (then reload of course unless you want a still-in-love Alistair at the end).

I stopped my elven mage - Zevran romance playthrough for now... I really don't know what to do with her, I really don't like playing as a mage it is not.. exciting enough or something like that. The feeling is not right.
Just played my FHN a little further, I decided not to harden Alistair (first time) and still marry him, my noble is going to become the real leader here. Just have to make sure he wants to marry her in the end.

What is more fun, romancing Zev as a human (noble) or as a city elf? I'm thinking about deleting my mage playthrough, it is not working for me. Or maybe starting over as a human mage and not choose the arcane warrior specialization..

They're both the same, actually.  You get an additional comment from Zev in the Alienage, and you get an additional dialog if your HN is marrying Alistair/Anora, but everything else, identical.

Just as an aside, when you marry Alistair, it makes no difference if he's hardened or not really.  You still get the same epilogue card.  What makes the difference between being his beloved bride, or being loved by the people as their savior and new ruler is whether he is in love/still in love, or just a pure political match.  Becoming his chancellor makes Eamon go home, but you do NOT get that amazing epilogue card about how you are the true ruler.

So only marrying Alistair while you're not in love with him makes you the true leader? Such a shame... He's just going to be an unhardend king then.

Human kiss is better than elven kiss I hope? The elven kiss was 'mwah'.

If you want to be the true leader and you've already got him in love (or are planning on it), then yeh, if you want to be true leader, you cannot marry him, but become his chancellor if he's unhardened.

I like the human kiss better.  I like the dwarf kiss best (yes yes, I know everyone knows that).  I think the elf kiss is sweet but SO short.  The human kiss is longer, but it's definitely the human kissing Zev -- the human is more assertive in all things with Zev   It's not as obvious as the male/male relationships, but with the male/female, you have Zev being more dominant with the elf, more submissive with the human, and on equal footing with the dwarf (which combines the best of elf and human).

I'm not the one to ask, Ramante, given that 3 of my 4 girls are HN, and the 4th is a mage, Yep a human mage. :)

I try, I really try to play the others, but somehow or other I get side-tracked, shoe-horned, or {insert convenient excuse} into playing a HF once again.

I don't know, there is just something delicious about a human noble-woman falling head over heels for *gasp* and elf. And not only an elf, but a former slave, who is an assassin. And her blood-line being only second to the royal line. Delicious, I tell you.

Mm... duct tape porn, musicals, bad fanfic (what is read cannot be unread).... I miss alot when I don't read this thread for a few hours.

Re Morrigan's offer -- I usually end up being friends with her, and while I do worry about what the child will become I do trust that her offer is at least partly because she cares for me. and Also, her comment about "some things in this world being worth saving"--well, I'm not convinced the child is necessarily an evil thing.

I finished my mage playthrough last night and it was rough. I had known Alistair was going to dump me after the Landsmeet but wow. it was incredibly harsh and cruel I thought. and then when I talked with him later at camp he was still pretty hostile. So I got angry and bitter, called him an ass, etc. Fortunately, Zevran was there to pick up the pieces and he did his usual wonder job of it, but I think at that point his romance felt very very rushed to me. I don't think I'll do this kind of playthrough again.

My next one is a Dalish elf Ranger I think (still haven't done a ranger /archer or a dalish) and she will probably keep all humans at arms length...

Then maybe a dwarf... maybe

And that's the saddest truth of all. I'll be real careful from now on clicking on things, especially things posted by CZ and Charsen. Maybe I'll make my cat read/look at it first, for safety reasons.

*wonders if there are good cat psychologists in the neighborhood*

The thing for me is that the majority of posters are usually in a different time-zone. While they post, I'm asleep. So this is me in the morning:

:o

in no particular order.

I really would like to do the ritual at least once. I want to see Morrigan at the gates and in the end-game. But no matter how decided I am to let it happen, in the end I can't bring myself to agree. If only Morrigan would be more open - not so darn hedgy with "that's all you need to know" and "this is all I will say".

Well, not enough. Sorry Morrigan. You are asking for something really huge, and you don't wish to talk about it more  in-depth. I know it's supposed to be a agonizing player decision, but it isn't for me in the first place.

I don't romance Alistair, so I have no problems recruiting Loghain. I can even justify it RP wise, even (or especially) with a human noble PC. I only know I'm missing a big part of the end-game without her, and I want to see it. All my PCs are friends with her, they all end up in the high 90's to 100+.

Hmmmmm, I was under the impression she left after the ritual, whether you do it or not, but I'm not sure -- the one time  I did it, I was just seeing what would happen in the scene, and I quit right after. :?
*still remembering poor CEM trying to get away from her* :o

No, Morrigan will stay until after the Arch Demon is slain if you do the ritual. And what she says at the gates is truly moving, at least to a femwarden.

Well, if she does that, my PC will really be put out. If so, well, Loghain it is. I can deal with a po'd Alistair, especially because it seems he's getting over it post battle. He still very snarky, and I wish my PC could tell him "Thanks for the help fighting for Ferelden. What would Duncan say, I wonder?"

But knowing my PCs they would likely not say the last part. They're nice that way. Chaotic, but nice.
I especially like hearing Alistair say "If Anora thinks she can rule by herself, she has a surprise coming." It makes me right proud of him. Yay Alistair.

Edited: Question answered before I finished posting. I'm so shocked!

Ooh, while I'm here, random question for you HNF warrior types -- what level of armor do you usually go for? I have to admit I like the look of fem splint mail, but my girl is just getting started after all, so I haven't seen all that many looks on her. XD I doubt I'll go for massive, but we'll see. Any strong preferences out there?

I love the Warden Commander armor for my Amazons. It has an absolutely wonderful stamina enhancement, and makes them more deadly than ever. For example, they turn "momentum" on, and the stamina level sinks very little. So little in fact that at first I thought I broke 'momentum' :)

It is also upgradable. When she hits a high enough level, I just send her to Mikhail/Levi, sell it, and voila, it's a higher tier. I've heard the storage chest works the same, but it doesn't for me, sadly. So I have to fork over the cash, but oh well, it's worth it.

Even though (probably especially) since I go DW, I use massive since I use her for tanking and don't have the shield for additional protection.  I think the Legion of the Dead armor actually looks good on a female human.

At least I made up my mind - I am rolling female dwarven DW warrior (as soon as I finish BGII I unwisely started to play after years). The cute kiss scene needs to be witnessed.
