Magic determines what armor and weapons you equip, if that's what you mean. I pumped magic, with some points in willpower and constitution (the latter b/c she was also bloodmage). I think the page I pointed you to was
Arcane Warrior Spellcasting, which shows which spells you can cast with weapon drawn.
The real bother about the AW/BM combination was that nothing much happens with either before level 14, and then all the good talents open up at once. So annoying! I saved all the mage tomes so that after level 14, I could get Blood Wound and quickly fill up AW.
Edit: Some dex might have been a good idea, yes. My girl was always a pincushion, esp. because she was equipping the heaviest armor in the group other than the tank. Of course no one was going to shoot at Zevran, and rarely at Morrigan who had the role of buff mage generally.
