Grad school is a bit like paying to be tortured.  I love what I do, but if I had it to do over I am not entirely certain that I would spend all that time and money for those three extra letters after my name.

ugh....don't mind me though, i'm just in a bad mood after my exam and directly thereafter breaking up with my boyfriend at lunch. angry coding is always more productive anyways. and positively fuming coding is even better. i just have to get in a better mood before i grade their exams, otherwise they will cry all break long at my lack of caring

<hugs> I hope your week improves.

@sami jo, getting through grading midterms sounds like a great reason to get a new computer. ;)  I can only imagine... ugh.
@Charsen, ack!! :(   Sorry to hear that... Image IPB  Venting on a pile of unsuspecting code sounds good...

True, but I don't see him as the type to be administrating blessings in the same matter either. Ah well, just something strange I found in one playthrough of mine.

We've commented on this, though I'm of the mind that Zevran is praying, not mocking.  I figure his gestures are slightly different because they're Antivan.  He says numerous times that he went to the Chantry as a child.  He does make light of Andraste's ashes, but not of Andraste herself- he actually makes some awestruck comments in the ruins, as well.  And he tells Alistair that he regularly prays and repents.  He might have been joking there, but I don't think so.

Of course, such things are open to interpretation.

@Charsen: Sorry to hear about the breakup, they always suck.

@Sami: That's why in gradschool I did a RA position instead of TA. :) I tried TA'ing a Intro to Geology lab class and wanted to strangle the cheerleaders (they fit the stupid blonde cheerleader sterotype to a T "What does it mean, metallic luster?" *ugh* "Um, it shines like metal?"). That made me decide I would never be able to e a teacher. I have no patience.

I dunno if that sign he's making is praying per-se. Maybe a sign of respect? I know I have seen other characters do it (the guard standing behind what's him name in Denerim who gives the back Alley/Pearl/Red Oars quests) and a couple of others, but I didn't note who the NPCs were other than to think "Oh! There's that hand sign...."

Love the screenies, and all the points made.

And Minaleth, I do hope you draw more Zev pics, that one is absolutely amazing!

Orzammar is definitely a motivation killer! I can't believe they have a mod to skip the Fade but nothing to skip the Deep Roads. Teleport me to the Broodmother and I'll take it from there! Or at least something to give you Topsider's Honor and all the demon parts straight to your inventory so you don't have to backtrack 10 times like I always do... <_<

The thought of taking my S&S male PC through the Deep Roads almost makes me want to delete the character.  I think I'm going to load him up with fire and soulrot bombs and train him to become a bombardier.  Better yet... maybe I will ghost Zevran the whole time and just let my PC run on default tactics.  Now that has possibilities.  I had fun ghosting Zevran a couple times when my mage PC went down for the count.

I hate Taliesan's voice. He sounds like he has a cold. "Bell if it isn'd the gread Zevrannnnn..." :pinched: And *why* doesn't he sound Antivan? Someone explain this to me now or my head may explode! I don't feel sorry at all for killing him. Sorry Zevran, but your taste in lovers used to be terrible. Good thing you have me now instead of those idiots.

:wizard:

LOL  Yes, they do not seem to be at all consistent with the Antivan accent, even less so than with Orlesian.  It's puzzling.  The Antivan sister-in-law in the HN origin doesn't sound at all Latinesque, either.

<looks hopefully at Charsen and offers more cookies> I think Zev would be "up" for it.

Ouch, I'm sure it's NO fun having to grade. But remind me not to have you as a teacher, since I like to not be fed to Archdemons thank you very much. =P

I only get homicidal with the students who never come to class, miss multiple assignments (or may as well have), then fail a major exam and then go ballistic at me because their grades are low. :pinched:  I'm really a total pushover for anyone who is trying and I don't hold a grudge against anyone who blows my class off.

I've seen that gesture made by so many NPCs by now that I fear it's just a random idle animation. Zevran does it in my camp all the time, but I've also seen it with that fellow standing behind sergeant Kylon and at least two of the hooded couriers in Denerim. In case of the hooded couriers, they usually did it right before the "pick something off the ground and look at it" animation - which Zev also does a lot in camp.

On another note, my Dalish female managed to be the first character I've made to actually get negative approval after sleeping with Zevran, because she kept pressing him about love and serious relationships. /facepalm

I agree it is like the random gesture, but in the context it seems to me like the engine is "borrowing" it for a prayer gesture. It's possible that's intended to make Zevran look bored, but considering his other comments about being devout (in his own assassin's way, of course!), I don't think so.

I wonder what the action is labeled in the toolset. If it's intended to be a prayer gesture in that scene, it's a little odd that they used it in so many other places as a clearly non-prayer gesture. However, it could easily be that they recycled a motion as it fit most closely with "praying" and so it's entirely different depending on context. Amazing how much discussion (read= confusion) it's caused around here!

Ok, I have a new script for ZevranASAP (v2.0) that:
- puts the civil war/zevran loghain cutscene directly after teeeeeaaaagan's cutscene,
- updates the codex as you acquire zevran
- hopefully fixes any weird bugs(different code approach this time)

I need someone to test it out on their system though - it works for me, but I need others to check before i officially release it.

Since I adjusted the updates, you have to be at Flemeth's hut or before... since it updates you in Lothering to get Zevran, you must install this before then, otherwise you *never* get zevran. D=

I have an override or the file ncs file that should be placed in your override folders. I'll make a dazip if these work for folks. Through my testing so far I haven't encountered a problem.

Any takers? If so, I'll post the ncs and override up in the ZevranASAP group in a minute, so just grab it & lemme know.

wow good thing Baren is still in the tower of Ishal

give the sucker to me please~

edit: also sorry about the break up that sucks... my last break up was particually terrible (the guy didnt even have the nerve to tell me to my face...) :crying:

Hmm, that could be true... recycling animations would certainly save a lot of money, especially for a few seconds in a cutscene. Does he make that gesture every time you ask for the blessing? I've never asked for the blessing since I usually play anti-Chantry types.

Speaking of the Chantry, I was wondering if Zevran's time at the Chantry as a child would have really been such a happy time. The Andrastian religion is based on Christianity, after all, and from one of Wynne's comments to Alistair it seems that the Chantry isn't very fond of unmarried mothers, despite the fact that Fereldan sexual morals are a bit more liberal than medieval European ones. I just kind of always assumed that as the son of a ****, Zevran would have spent most his time at the Chantry listening to sermons about depravity.

Much better use of time! As said by a certified slacker. :D You will really thank yourself when you get it (and I'll be jealous as I'll still be playing on my 3 year old laptop with the graphics downgraded and overheating issues making people's faces melt off).

Yes! Weekly Zevran-related quote tradition needs to be started now!

I just tested it on Aedan. It worked perfectly. I got the Bann Teagan being sexy cut scene immediately followed by the Zevran cut scene. It doesn't look odd. Then when I left Lothering, Zevran appeared. YAY! It's wonderful.

On more news, DA:O updated. It fixed some bugs I see. Also, fighting is a bit more difficult (which is good).

He does make the gesture every time -- it's not random.

It's a feeling I get, that perhaps his time at the chantry was a break from an otherwise pretty bad existence.  He talks about being taught about sex at the wh*rehouse, about the occasional beating, refers to all of that as "old scars," and such.  He also talks about asking for forgiveness and being devout and such.  He doesn't sound scarred from what he learned at the Chantry.  And as Addai67 said, he definitely was in awe when walking into Andastre's final resting place.

I have noticed he also makes that gesture at camp, but I wonder if it IS prayer there.  /shrug This is definitely open to interpretation.

Edit: yes yes I did, but it was too late.

It was the only save I had at the Tower.  He is a sexy beast though.  I think it may be a sign that he needs to get played.

Wow, Morrigan throws herself at him, though, as does Leliana.  That's just weird for some reason. The game definitely has a different feel with a male warden.

It's cute also that he will make a comment as you pass Maferath's statue:  "That is Maferath, the husband of Andraste.  [pause]  What?  I went to the Chantry often as a child!"   The way he says it makes it a lulz, but I interpret the background as being serious.  Why would he go to the Chantry often if he hated it?  Who in the wh*rehouse would make him go?
