I only missed one page last night? For shame ;D Though apparently I missed nekkid Charsen icon... oO

Sabriana, I believe Lafayette helped plan D.C., so if it's a bit like Paris, I'm not too surprised XD It is an annoying city to drive in, but I suppose it looks cool from the air. ;D

I've played just a few of the FFs... loved 7 forever, of course, and I really loved the combat system in X, if not the story so much. It's just hard for me these days to invest that kind of time in a game where you can't save everywhere (LOVE that about DA:O, let me tell you ;D). I wonder if FFXIII still uses the save-point system...

Edit: Apparently I've stolen ejoslin's top-of-page mojo!

Thanks, Ejoslin. I'm starting right now. I would have earlier, but my cat started an argument with me. He's a bad cat, that one. He's used to being brushed, fed, and let out at certain times, the spoiled brat. It's not time yet, but he was of a different mind. So he sat on my laptop. Thankfully it was still closed.

FF13? Is you hubby trying to wean you off Zevran? Ask him and see if he can do Zevran: "Jealous? No, not me. -half charmed, half fakish chuckle-"

Edited to wave at Jenovan.
That would explain it. Even the difficulty driving in it. At least the USAmericans had the foresight to paint lines into the middle of the roads in DC. In Paris, you make an educated guess, and try not to head-on into another car.

Oh, I only am guaranteed to get the top of the page when I'm making some off-the-wall comment about sex with a video game character.

Edit: @Sabriana, yes, he IS trying to get me off DA:O.  He kind of, well, groaned when I told him Awakenings was coming out next week.  The thing is, if I like FF13, this could be bad, because we only have one xbox.  My kids would probably insist I go back to DA:O.

This thread moves quickly! Thanks for your comments on my post a few pages back. It's great to see that other people feel the same way about Zevran.

I liked the list of key moments. First time round, I chose Zevran to rescue me from prison. The second time round, as a male PC, I was surprised to find that I could escape by seducing the guard! I think Zevran would have approved. Morrigan and Leliana came in to help me at the end (I didn't chose them. Do you just get random companions as a male PC?).

First time round, I chose him as my champion against Loghain and got a cute comment. This time, I fought Loghain myself. (When I first started playing and found out that there was romance options, Loghain was my first choice. I was disappointed to discover that he wasn't an option).

I still want to do a playthrough where I end up with Alistair, but that scene at the Landsmeet puts me off. On my first playthrough, he executed Loghain in front of Anora. Despite his reasons, I find that too brutal. There is no option to persuade him to even postpone the execution. After listening to him express his pain at losing Duncan, I was shocked to see him insist on killing somebody's real father in front of them. On my second playthrough, there seemed to be no way to choose Alistair and avoid that act, so I ended up siding with Anora.

On neither playthrough did Zevran offer a massage, or tent time. Have I just been too quick to choose the tent option when it comes up? I'd like to see the massage dialogue.

Hehe, seducing the guard in Ft. Drakon is pretty hilarious, especially as a male PC.  (But what's with the helmet?!)  Not sure how the rescue party is chosen in that case, though... only did it once to see the actual escape. *snicker*

You have to not sleep with Zevran beforehand to get the massage offer -- he will offer once he gets to Adore (+71, I believe). :)

Yep, +71 Adore. You don't get as high as approval if you wait, but does that really matter with Zevran?

good morning folks. Serious question here : anyone braid their hair in random hunks while waiting for those damned loading screens to finish ? I woke up this morning and found three braids in my hair... mmm......

re Alistair -- some options Alistair will put Anora in the tower, saying that he's keeping her in reserve as a possible just in case he dies during the last battle. She comments that that's unusually wise of him to do :P

So, for you FF fans- I've never played a single FF game (was in Eq2, Wow, etc) would I be totally lost to get this new one ?

The FF games are nothing like an MMO. What servers were you on in WoW and EQ2? Anyway, I think the best of them was FF7 -- I occasionally replay it on my older son's PSP. Very tame by today's standards, but it was groundbreaking when it was released. There are romances (hah, yes, very shallow and built into the plot, but they're there), there's swearing, the hero is insane, the story was a huge departure of the "good vs. evil" that had marked console RPGs until that point.

The new patch has greatly reduced my load times. I'm actually very happy about this. But yes, I do find the occasional braid in my hair as well.

I should probably join in the nudie pics. Sadly, no action pics, as I have to have the graphics at their lowest settings to actually have the game function. But soon there will be art!

ES, I know the romance didn't progress and end the way you expected it to, but what did you think of it? Were you disappointed? Or very amazed? I know I was stunned at how it ended up turning out, but I am more of a romantic than you are I think.

Edit: I'm still laughing over Charsen's pics at the archdemon.  Eye candy for sure!

Second edit: Actually, I am curious as to anyone's reaction to how the relationship actually ended up playing out, if anyone wants to talk about that!  Was anyone else really surprised?  Or am I just a bit dense? (I know those two sentences are not mutually exclusive, but . . .)  To me, how unexpected it was was part of the reason I sat there enraptured.

Charsen I love you for making the dazip file. :'

I don't even mind playing Lothering again, I was thinking about replaying it anyway. I'm not sure if I should make my mage BM/AW or BM/SH. Right now she is SH but I don't know if I want it that way.

@ES, nice pics, though you should give the ancient armor set to Zevran, he looks really good in it. ;)

To be honest, I haven't finished my Dalish file, even though he's my favorite. XD I managed to screw up the game for awhile, for one thing... and really... I don't seem to spend as much time on it as I expected... I should have finished by now, but oh well, why rush it? XD Well... there was also my blundering and having to travel all across the map for suplies, and getting stuck on finding Jarvia's hide out, because I didn't want to cheat.

I've been willingly spoiled for so much of it that I think I mostly know what to expect. So far I'm very pleased with the Zevran romance, and I'm sure I'll be even more pleased after Landsmeet. (Ugh, freekn' Orzamar, hurry up and be over)

Ramante... I might in another file, but Dristen is Dalish, so he just can't part with his ancestral armor. lol

Well, I was pretty spoiled about how things would go up until the proposal and all, but willingly. ;D  The bittersweetness of things like breaking up with the poor guy were an interesting surprise, and learning about Zevran's depth of feeling that way was really charming... (if a little unfortunate.. XD;; )

But, I have to say, I was a little disappointed at the endgame/epilogue.  After everything the PC and Zevran had been through together, the dialogues there seemed rather flat and unromantic.  I mean, yes, there were romance options in the dialogues, and Zevran will stay with my Warden to rebuild, but it just seemed so "meh", especially after the emotional charge of the gate scene, I suppose.

(I was also bitterly disappointed that both Zevran and Alistair lied to me about talking "later". XD   I realize now it's just implied, but going straight into the cards and credits was an unwelcome surprise. I let the credits roll, hoping there would be another tidbit after, but no! Image IPB )

From players point of view it was satisfying. And also sweet.
At the end I little bit dropped out of roleplay - first situation was Morrigan and her offer + Zevran remark, that definitely made me not to sacrifice the Warden.
Emotional #1 was at the Denerim gates, after the storming the Dark City speech I overreacted a bit: *drops the weapon* "Screw the archdemon, screw the party, let the whole Ferelden burn down, we are leaving. Just you and me. Now. Adios everyone." That is pretty much the situation when I jump from computer, walk few pointless circles around the room, then calm down and play again, lol.
And the final dialogue and epilogue was just a conclusion. Zevran staying with the Warden is very aaawwww :3

I was a bit disappointed at the end.   The first thing I wanted to do after killing the archdemon was talk to Zevran.  I couldn't wait to get through the short dialogue with Alistair - what did I want from him?  Oh anything old thing will do, I just have to .... So what was I going to do now? ... I'll get back to you on that, hold on a minute ...Your public awaits, etc.  I couldn't get through it fast enough.  Then when I turned round, it looked as though Zevran had gone.  I was relieved to find that he'd just wandered off to socialise.   But it was very disappointing that my last conversation with him was at a public gathering where I was being hassled to leave.  I wanted something more intimate, with more dialogue.  And what about the celebratory ravishing?  I thought that was a given?

The epilogue said that we stayed together 'for a time', I think - did we get bored?  One of us died?  Met somebody else?  I wanted to know.

No, the narrarator got tired of stalking you and doesn't know where you ended up.

*grin* My first play through, I didn't romance Zevran until after being dumped by Alistair at the landsmeet, and since she was a rogue, I actually never had Zevran in my party. So when I tried to leave him behind at the city gates, in his t4 stuff, crappy long sword and crow dagger, but then said, the dark city dialog, I did my ONLY reload of that game, breaking my one rule of first playthroughs, and took him with me, swearing I'd just turn down the difficulty if needed.

The "for a time," when traveling or staying in Denerim . . . well, it probably has to do with the warden going back to the grey wardens. Then again, when you choose to stay in Denerim, though they're on different slides, both stay in Denerim, "For a time," so they may leave together. If they're traveling, my hope is that the warden gets called back to do some warden business and Zevran continues traveling perhaps, but they get back together asap. Of course, rebuilding the grey wardens, there's no "for a time," there -- which will make me sad in awakenings because that's not going to happen.

What I don't see is Zevran breaking up with the warden. I really hope it doesn't go that way in future expansions.

I did like the ending slides. I mean, I have to admit I'd LOVE a wedding cutscene (I cannot resist that political marriage), or for my warden to be very visible in the coronation, but I understand why there's not more. As much trouble as they have with the ending slides, I can't begin to imagine how buggy romance-specific endings would be.

Edit: *grin* and I read Creature 1's answer and I'm like DAMN, I AM obsessed!

No, FF games are generally not MMOs, they're usually single player console gaming.

I have to put in a vote for FF6, especially since some of the recent re-releases (PSX) get rid of the worst of the teeth-grindingly awful play mechanics of the original (no one's fault, really, just a product of its era).  I recently replayed it to make sure that it stood the test of time and found myself choking up even more than I did when I originally played.  A stunning story and incredible music.

FF7 is also excellent, but a bit more...what am I trying to say?  I feel like that was where Square started getting less serious and more cartoony.  Thankfully FFXII was mostly a return to form, despite plot holes you could run a herd of Chocobo through.

I put Loghain-style braids in my hair when I worked out last week and my word! they really work to keep your hair out of your face.  Go figure.

I agree, my HNF tried to soften the Loghain execution a bit- she at least wanted it to be less public (but being about to make Alistair king, was not going to go against his first public policy pronouncement).  I have to say, though, hearing Loghain order my mage PC's, Alistair's and Eamon's execution immediately after you lose the LM vote reduced any future empathy my PCs will have!  And that was all because of Anora's betrayal.  As it is, she gets nowhere near the throne, but that added to my sentiment.

Yes, I think it is +70 or so where he offers the massage.  Honestly I think both ways are cute, but Zevran is so happy when you ask him that if I don't have an RP reason to hold out, I usually don't.

I agree, I did want more.  I guess you don't get much saucy talk, especially with Zevran, in public.  But for any of them I wish they gave you a private celebration with the LI.  Image IPB  I also wanted to see the adoring crowds and honor guard, personally.  It felt a little flat to go right to the epilogue screens.
