What's the (Romantic) Appeal of Zevran?

I still want to do a playthrough where I end up with Alistair, but that scene at the Landsmeet puts me off. On my first playthrough, he executed Loghain in front of Anora. Despite his reasons, I find that too brutal. There is no option to persuade him to even postpone the execution. After listening to him express his pain at losing Duncan, I was shocked to see him insist on killing somebody's real father in front of them. On my second playthrough, there seemed to be no way to choose Alistair and avoid that act, so I ended up siding with Anora.[/quote]
I agree, my HNF tried to soften the Loghain execution a bit- she at least wanted it to be less public (but being about to make Alistair king, was not going to go against his first public policy pronouncement). I have to say, though, hearing Loghain order my mage PC's, Alistair's and Eamon's execution immediately after you lose the LM vote reduced any future empathy my PCs will have! And that was all because of Anora's betrayal. As it is, she gets nowhere near the throne, but that added to my sentiment.

I haven't lost the Landsmeet vote yet, so I haven't heard that. It's not so much just the execution, though (my PCs had also executed characters that they could have left alive), or even about how good or evil the characters are. It's insisting on killing someone right in front of their daughter, splattering her with blood. I know Anora is highly manipulative and was willing to risk her father's death for her own gain, but still. Even if a public execution had been necessary, it could hafve waited - even for Anora to leave the room, at least. Alistair isn't really the sweet guy that he initially seems to be, and I'll have difficulty putting that out of my head on future playthroughs.

So when I tried to leave him behind at the city gates, in his t4 stuff, crappy long sword and crow dagger, but then said, the dark city dialog, I did my ONLY reload of that game, breaking my one rule of first playthroughs, and took him with me, swearing I'd just turn down the difficulty if needed.
I love both variants, but the one where you leave him behind, he's just so sweet it broke my heart. I had a save at the Morrigan ritual, and yes, I redid that whole thing. And hearing him when you take him! Yes, it was definitely worth it

A question for my Zev-savvy friends: with my MHN, I'm planning to get Zevran giving up the fight with Taliesin, so that I can hear first-hand later about his past relationship with Taliesin. What's a good approval rank to trigger these events? I was thinking around +45/+50, is it right?
You just have to be 70 or lower and he needs to be romanced. If you avoid giving him his plot gifts, you should be able to do that fairly easily.

Next playthrough I was a HNF and we ended up as King and Queen. I would have definitely liked either an ending kiss a wedding or something. It doesn't have to be disney -- I think there should have been some overarching darkness about our short lives together or something.... but still I would have liked a private LI ending.
with Zevran I miss it even more than with Alistair, although his statement to me is much more private than Alistair's who is up on the stage acting as king and so nothing can really be considered private there. But heck, the game is soo good that these are just quibbles, really. I'd prefer Teagan and Loghain romance options to better endings lol
thanks for the FF discussions. I might have to check them out (though I'm PC only I'm afraid--just not good with controllers. I'm a mouse and keyboard girl. Course that's after Awakenings and ME 1 and 2 (I bought 1 because I wanted to do it first, but keep playing origins

It worked perfectly. My pc stopped the game when I entered Lothering's Chantry, so I was a little afraid that it was a bug or something. When the game stopped I heard a typical windows 'bleep', so it was something from my pc and not an in-game error. I played the part again and it worked fine. =3Ramante wrote...

Sandor thanks you.
Sandor? Really? Because the only Sandor I know is a giant Hungarian with rippling muscles who gets drunk and chases girls into bathrooms...
Kinda hard to get that mental image out of my head.
Anyway, moving on... Finally got to play a little last night, and it was fantastic! I'm about to head over to Howe's estate, but first I got the scene with Eamon where Loghain/Howe show up. Ohhhh man it was amazing. I built my group specifically to ****** off Loghain (i.e. the bastard son of Maric, the assassin he sent to kill me, and the Orlesian), then had a field day yelling at him about how he wouldn't remain in power, and at Howe about wanting to slit his throat.

And Zevran looking sexy while Eamon looks scary...

I also got through Taliesan, and finally told Zevran I want him to stay as a friend (first time she's called him a friend).

Didn't get to do Howe's yet, but I'm about to go in. I can't wait!

Not to Ali-hijack (it happens on this thread, and I know I'm a culprit), but especially if he is going to be king, he is going to need that bit of ruthlessness. And Anora is not guiltless in Loghain's crimes. I feel for her and it does seem to affect her for the rest of her life, as one could well imagine, but feudal politics is a brutal game and she is the biggest gamer of them all. She uses her father as a pawn just as she'll use anyone else.
Oh yes, and I'm not really defending her. Although it has been interesting to be able to talk to Loghain on this current playthrough. He gives some insights into their relationship and their backgrounds. I can even understand why Alistair does it, after the build-up since Ostagar. I can understand why he doesn't want to discuss whether there might be a good reason to make Loghain a grey warden (although after all this time of us being the only two, I was more than happy to listen to what another warden had to say). It's just the inhumanity of messily killing a parent right in front of their child that's disturbing, no matter who the parent and child are, or how guilty It seems much worse than the other killings. I suppose it's not his fault that there isn't a dialogue option to tell Anora to leave the room. There seemed to be no middle ground on my playthrough (maybe there are other options). If you support him as king, he will kill Loghain immediately.
It contrasts with Zevran's attitude. He might have his own reasons for wanting revenge on people, but he never pursues it.

Aww, that's true, I guess the end scene really is quite public (who are all these people Zevran is chatting with? my PC wondered worriedly, with a faint tinge of jealousy), so not too much mushy stuff. But yes, a private scene with the LI -- even just to talk -- would have been sweet.Addai67 wrote...
I agree, I did want more. I guess you don't get much saucy talk, especially with Zevran, in public. But for any of them I wish they gave you a private celebration with the LI.I also wanted to see the adoring crowds and honor guard, personally. It felt a little flat to go right to the epilogue screens.
I was expecting to see crowds, too! And/or a precession, or a grand salute by the honor guard, or something. Gah.
re: the execution... I do wish there was some other option besides Alistair or the Warden doing it. oO;; Don't they have a High Executioner or something? :/ I can understand it needing to be public, but... guh. I guess that may be the nature of Ferelden politics, though. Sigh.
(Not to mention, I'm not sure I'd want my not-so-strong elf to be left to execute someone with a broadsword... *wince*)

And I do like the way you (er, your sister?) handled that hair. I've seen it look really really bad on some people's characters, but the color you chose is great. She's hot!
(And for some reason it doesn't come up as an option in More Hairstyles for me...)

I can't remember actually. XD
My sister is totally addicted to the Sims and other 'create something' games and she really knows what works and what not. When she made her she was asking herself (and me, but I was clueless) which eye color goes with which eye shadow. It took her 15 minutes to make her. I like the color of the hair, in the character creator screens it looked like gold. x3Nonvita wrote...

At one point I felt really bad, in game she looks so innocent but she's going to be a bloodmage. Now she is no longer innocent, because everytime I look at her I hear Zev's voice in my head 'sex goddes, sex goddes, sex goddess...'

That is modded hair, I take it? I get tired of the vanilla-game hairstyles. At this point several of my characters have ended up looking similar. And sounding similar, because some of the voices I just can't stand.

Step 1:download winter forge mod
Step 2:buy felons coat
Step 3:use winter forge mod to turn felons coat into dalish armor
Step 4:drool over Zevran
I have plenty of pictures in this topic that show him being all sexy in his dalishfied felons coat

You could go for Shadow of the Empire? It's recolored leather armor, so he's got that lovely thigh-baring kilt. I wish now I'd uploaded my screenies from Landsmeet - there's a lovely bit of the cutscene, when Zevran is the PC's champion, where he's circling... a very, very nice dose of ogle-worthy legs there.
Edit: O HAI I have those screenshots here, duh... brb, uploading.

LOL, that should be a Grey Wardens secret specialty - your hair and makeup stays perfect even after killing all darkspawn in Ferelden. Do you think Alistair does anything with his hair? No way, it's just perfect like that. Ever noticed Duncan's beard? Same thing. There were only a few warden women so this is not very known.
