Oo, also got to mention I got Zevran's proposalthanks to ejoslin's FAQ labor of love. I would never have imagined turning down the earring would have led to anything good, let alone such a heartmelting outcome. How would anyone find that on their own? If I hadn't known it would be ok, his reaction when I turned the earring down would have had me reloading so fast the controller would be smoking. (Yes, I'm that codependent. What's your point?)
Heh, here is how I found it. My warden was dumped by Alistair at the Landsmeet. Turned on the romance with Zevran. The way he reacted to "Does that mean we're married in Antiva," just following the whole Alistair thing meant I was NOT accepting the earring. Really, I was so upset at that point, I was forcing myself through the game. And I was not about to get hurt AGAIN by another pixelated man ROFL. It didn't hurt that I promised myself that I would NOT reload -- I had read that decisions had far reaching effects in the game so I had decided ahead of time I would suffer through whatever decisions I made and make them right on subsequent playthroughs. Though I knew something was up when he started refusing to go to the tent. I just had no clue it would be THAT fantastic.
It's probably part of the reason I am such a rabid fangirl. The way that whole thing turned out; I smiled for days.
Edit: But I'm so glad you got it. Words, screenshots, whatever, just can't even begin to describe how wonderful it really is. It's worth it getting spoilered a little to see it than to not see it at all.
Second edit: I also actively disliked Alistair for quite some time after that play through. It's when I started doing the political marriage thing!

Finished the Dalish last night, got the plea from Zev to save the Dalish. I cannot make that choice, even to be talked out of it, again. That plea is just heartwrenching... Got JUST to the Mountains to head to Orzammar, but stopped so my brother could play Bayonetta. He's been sick since last week, so this was his first time playing, I think, since then.
Alistair, I believe, is sort of friendly with Titian. Her plans are working well. Keep Al somewhat friendly, sleep with Zev every chance she gets, then at the Landsmeet make Alistair marry her. She's gonna take Gwaren as well as the throne, with Zev at her side.

Oh, I'm tempted to let Titian get caught just for that line.... But she's too much of a "Kill Howe and his allies for his crimes" person...

Totally, totally agree. I've always played games more for the story than for the mechanical skills (of which I am sadly lacking), & DA:O is so well done I get unbelievably invested!
And yes, have to admit originally Ali & Zev were tied for my affections, but A has slipped with extended comparison. As many friends upthread have noted, A's approach to a relationship is fairly Allistair-centric. Unlike our sweet baboo . . .

Edit: I hate what he says when you go the route of telling him you'll kill his wife and son. He does get the final shot in.
