OK, I might have been just a leeetle overanxious. We killed Isolde, went to get his boots and gloves, then chatted through all of his dialogue options in camp. I have him at 100 Adore and we haven't done, like, anything in terms of the game.

I became interested the moment I actually rejected him in the first game.

I was pretty surprised that in response to his "Would you be offended if I said I fancied you?", if you chose the option, "Thank you, but I'm not interested right now" how polite he was about it. I expected him to be a total sleazeball who never gave up, but he never mentioned it again, just laughed and said, "Ah, too bad.". He's actually got a strange respect for the Grey Warden.

And besides, he's just a big softie on the inside

Hm, ok, I am wondering if I busted something. I had the encounter with Taliesin, told Zevran to do what was best for him etc. and all fine. He's been at 100 Adore for a while and still is. However, I traveled around a bit and back to camp and I have no new dialogue options, no offer of the earring etc. Is my Zevran broken or what?

You'll have to go back to before the meeting with Taliasin, that there is the matter of worship love

If you use the option (after Taliesen is dead) that sort of goes like "I wouldn't have you around to kiss you", the earring never gets offered. At least not in my game. I had to reload and chose another option. Right after that dialogue the 'earring' dialogue opens.

Leliana, if spoken to after being with Zevran, chides the PC for having frivolous sex, even after the PC brings up that she used sex as a weapon in her trade. She can easily be viewed as a hypocrite, or at least a bit conflicted, since she is apparently looking for love at THIS point in her life and obviously had eyes for the PC.

That's a difference in the male and female PC, because the talk with Leliana for a female goes way differently.  As in you can invite Leliana to join you, and she likes the idea.  

But yes, Leliana comes off as a hypocrite to me as well.

Heh, you just learned how easy it is to raise Zevran's approval.  All you have to do is be reasonably nice to him, and not even in all conversations.  If you want to be more judgemental, he never stops giving +1 approval for going to the tent either.

Though I try to space the conversations because I hate running out of them early.

He never falls in love if you go that route.  He never offers the best friendship speech either.  I'm not sure if it's a bug or planned -- but I think it's planned.  He's basically told he's nothing but a physical thing to you if you go that route.

If you want to see the happiest look ever on his face in this game, tell him you'll be sorely put out if he leaves.  Geez, give the poor guy SOMETHING!  He told you a long time ago he'd want to stay, so tell him the same!

It could just be that your game is bugged as well.  I would reload.  Telling him you consider him a friend gives you a codex update AND one of the most touching dialogs in the game.

Oh my. I didn't know it comes up in a PC-Leliana conversation, I've always thought it was connected to Isabella. Where and when does it come up? The only thing I had happen in the Leliana/PC conversations that concerned Zevran is Leliana saying something like:

Followed by "I've watched him closely because it's in my best interest, and because he tried to kill you, etc." Then Leliana remarks on that there must be quite more to him than he lets on, and ends with the comment that he's 'a handsome one'. i'm playing on the PC if that makes a difference.  And that's the conversation.  At least on mine, after she goes through that there's a dialog option that says, "I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you joined in on the fun," and to which she replies, "That's an interesting thought."  The only difference this seems to make is the party dialog when Zevran offers to "knock boots" with her, she thanks him.  The Isabela thing is completely different.  You have to be sleeping with both her and Zev (so Zev has to be below 70) and she has to be hardened.

Second time around my HN went straight for Zevran and she never got the dialogue with Leliana for some reason. Maybe because my PC inadvertantly turned the romance on. Twice. So it was all about being Leliana being embarrassed and so forth.



As a point of note, when Zevran insists that my PC break it off with Leliana, he says. "I know how men are with their women..." I can tell you, that almost ruined the play-through for me. It was as immersion and role-playing breaking as all get out. My PC was a woman.

I think what she says is, "Hmmm, that's an interesting thought.  I'll have to think about it."  Then if you get the knock boots conversation after that, she thanks Zevran for looking out for her welfare.  I actually have heard two different ones, one where she accepts and he tells her adventuring has changed her, but i'm not sure what triggers the different ones (and one may have been on a male play through).

Actually, there are a few dialogs that for the life of me I can't figure out what triggers them.  There's one with Wynne almost at the end, where she talks about everything coming to a head, and how young your PC actually is, but I've only seen that a couple of times, and I make a point to talk to Wynne a lot after the landsmeet.  Another is a variation of the "royal scandal" talk from Zevran.  I've seen him ask her if she heard about this beautiful woman who was going to be queen, but I have not been able to trigger that again.  The one I always get now is the one that starts, "Have you heard the rumor about the future queen," and I've tried with Alistair at friendly never romanced, dumped, still in love, with Zevran below 90, Zevran between 90 and 100, after the earring has been accepted, after the romance has been completed . . .  I'm convinced that some of these are random.

Edit: I want to be clear I'm not talking about the "royal scandal" conversation.  I know what triggers THAT.  But it's a variant on it, where Zevran starts by asking, "I heard a rumor that this beautiful woman is going to be queen."  It's actually much sweeter than the one I usually see.

The two dialogues are indeed emotional, and very touching. But my favorite has to be the second earing offering (after the refusal to sleep with the Warden). So real, so heart-warming!

Oh, I agree, when he declares his feelings and then lets it stand as a proposal.  I was curious once, and gave the answer, "no, that's too much," and, all I will say is, he most definitely meant it as a proposal.  My favorite dialog of his, of course, is the Dark City dialog at the city gates, but his offering to die for the PC (someone has to prevent your untimely death), whether lover or friend, just blows me away.

Darn! I forgot it! That sentence just blew me away -- I was so happy when I heard it for the first time, and I must admit that, over the weeks, I've tried every possible dialogues combinations, but that one is surely the better!

Thanks Ejoslin. Well, since my PCs will never invite Leliana (they are so selfish, tsk, tsk) it'll never be an issue. I don't think any of my PCs would like it if Zevran actually acted on Leliana acceptance. Like I said, they're a bunch of selfish women. Where, oh where did I go wrong in raising them, I wonder

I think part of the problem with that whole dialog is it's the first time you can tell Zevran that you consider him more than a friend, and his answer to that is nice as well, but not nearly as much so if you tell him you consider him your friend instead.  I would like to see the "friend" response to both of them, actually, maybe after he tells you he returns the feelings.

I've never dared picking the first one because I had the feeling it would turn the romance off. And with Zevran, off means off. Not like with the others, where it turns back on, seemingly randomly.

Oh no, it does not, but select it.  Seriously.  It gives you an amazing dialog -- Zevran obviously treasures the friendship more than anything else.  In fact, you may fall in love with the character even more, it is THAT incredible.  You learn he knows a lot more than you think he does about the whole situation -- more than the PC does, actually.  Gives you a codex update as well, it is THAT important.  If you have a save around there, I suggest doing a reload.

Edit: It does not turn the romance off at all.  In fact, it gives you approval which you may need depending on how you reacted to the first offering of the earring.  

Second edit: This is really his true declaration of his feelings.  It puts him calling you, "my friend," all the time in the proper perspective.   In fact, Zevran's, "my friend" is more endearing to me than any other terms used because of this dialog and realizing what exactly that means to him.

Edit: No wonder so many people don't realize that Zevran offers to die for the PC.  That dialog is just too easy to miss

well, i do. but my first countless playthroughs were on xbox, where it'll only be german. and though i really like his german voice.... the original is more awesome:)

well, i do. but my first countless playthroughs were on xbox, where it'll only be german. and though i really like his german voice.... the original is more awesome:)

Well, all I can say is . . . it probably is as good in German.  You get this dialog whether as a lover or a friend, which to me makes it even more amazing.  Zevran knows what's going on, knows the cost of ending the blight -- I'd be surprised if the translation wasn't just as good because it is that pivotal a dialog.

I feel bad for people who don't know it's there!  Because it's really a defining moment for the character!  Have fun with it
