Warning SurrealSadi, I edited my post. I think what I have there is closer. I will drag out a screenshot if it really is important to have the exact wording. But I think that captures the essence of what was said.

Edit: Thank you jenovan!  I knew it ended with, but obviously I could not remember the start!  "It just seems a waste, destroying the Anvil, seeing as what it can do."

I really need to organize my screenshots!  I only have a few hundred of them.

and, as usual, some might consider Zev's view to be cynical, but as Ejoslin said, it's truly practical. The dwarves really do need golems if they want to reclaim their thaigs and avoid extinction.. and there are always crazy volunteers

Btw, f* harrowmont, I should have taken Zev's advice on that one =/

Aye, I saw the edit after I posted and since I'm glaring at my clock and flailing at not being able to play tonight decided to leave my post as is :)

Surreal, his eyes are glowy because I used a mod pack of eye + hair colors to make him ;D (PineappleTree's, for anyone keeping score) I gave both my elves glowy eyes, I think it's remarked upon in the novels a couple of times that elves' eyes are bright. (maybe not that bright, but.. eh ;D)

I'm hoping my mage can figure out a way to keep from going crazy or dying. But it might mean some other people have to die.

Well, you know it can be done.  You just have to continue someone else's research!

I may have to buy that DLC for Science!  I haven't played it yet.

FOR SCIENCE!

Ok, if I had romanced him and Wynne complained, I would have shoved all his words of wisdom down her throat.

Hehe, every so often I'll sit and drag a few dozen of my latest screenshots into sorted folders, but even so... for example, the one folder I have just of the post-Taliesen talk and the earring offers is stupidly full of shots. XD

Looks good on Zevran. Makes him look even more hot...

Oh, ejoslin, I'm sure we all do it at times. I know I have :)

Why is it, when I play a mage, I always have to sacrifice Isolde and make a deal with a demon for a spell point? *grin* My mages are always extremely selfish. Off to face the wrath of Alistair now! Or tell him it all went well, which should have him cooing and giving smiley faces.

If farmland was a weapon that you used souls to harness, I'd see more wisdom. Might as well say "Humans (or elves/dwarves) suffer all the time. They need sustenance to live, thus they will always be bound to produce that, but we do not make them starve to death, do we?".

On a sidenote, I'm for keeping the anvil.

I'm thinking about my theory that Zevran is smiling in the dwarf tent scene because he's never done a dwarf before...

(pause to interject: See, ejoslin, you're not the only one talking about dwarf sex on this thread!)

... how many things can Zevran say that he's never done before in the sack? So I think my theory is a good one!

The essence of his argument is that something might produce the suffering of a few, but if it's necessary or highly beneficial to the rest, then we don't destroy it.
Some farmers might hate working on the land, and some of them are forced too. But you don't destroy the land to free them. The land (in this case waepon) itself is not really responsable, it's rather how it's managed.

Maybe the femdwarf is just the best . . .  He doesn't smile in the male dwarf one after all.  I actually think the FemDwarf is the only one he does smile in.  So he probably just thinks she's hottest.

The Anvil . . . It would be much harder for me to destroy it if Branka were sane. As it is, sometimes I keep it, sometimes I destroy it, and sometimes I side with Branka and talk her into destroying it.  I think part of the problem with Orzammar, despite Zevran's comment about in 100 years there will be nothing but surface dwarves left, is you don't see how it is declining.  Zevran's advice makes perfect sense with his observations about Orzammar.  It's impossible to know that you can put a reformer on the throne who finds yet another alternative.

Edit: because my post wasn't long and rambling enough as it was.  Walls of text are just sexy.  But only when they're MY walls of text.

If there is an option to kill Branka and convince Caridin to keep the anvil, I would probably do it.

Also, it depends on what king you put in place. Harrowmont, being the **** that he is, doesn't do anything to stop Branka. Bhelen on the otherhand declares the use of the anvil illegal and attempts to bring Branka in her place.

EDIT: you don't see Orzammar declining?
What about all the destroyed and abandoned Thaigs? The fall of city of the dead? The dwarves basically have only 2 cities left.

But it's impossible to know that. I made my last post much longer and less coherent, but I wanted to point out that there is no way to know that Bhelen would be the type of reformer he turns out to be. Given what you know about dwarven society, and how it's rapidly declining, what Zevran says makes a lot of sense.

And yes, if there was an option to convince Caridin to keep the anvil, I'd choose that as well.

Edit: Of course I see it declining.  But I guess I don't think the urgency of the situation was well portrayed.  Like I said, I often keep the anvil, and it's for that reason.

Second edit: I'm not disagreeing with you.  I just am not very articulate!

*throws things at Sony and the PSN updates* People are claiming Sony reps are telling them the PSN Store won't update till midnight! I can't be up that late tonight! And the blind idiots reading "3.2010" as 3/20/10 scaring people in the RtO thread are really aggravating me!

*deep breath* Okay. I think I'm calm now.

Edit: FINALLY! I can download this, go take my shower, then pass out.

Yes, in-game, we are not given too much clues. But it wasn't a complete surprise either. It was heavily hinted at that Harrowmont was ultra-conservative and whimpish and Bhelen was progressive and cunning.

EDIT: I am not disagreeing with you either. Just discussing Image IPB

*random Zevran-related squee from standing around pressing F1-F2-F1-F2...*

"You rang?" just made me giggle. It's the accent. *sigh* He sounds like he's smiling as he says all of these so far, though, it's adorable!

I dont think you should be able to convince Caradin to not the destroy the anvil

I however do think there should be a variation to the Branka suicide option where she doesnt destroy the anvil

That makes me giggle, hearing "You rang?"... The wicked chuckle and "Si amora" make me sigh and go all melty-happy.
