I honestly did not mean to imply in any way, shape or form that Zevran didn't have deep feelings for Rinna -- he says straight out that she touched something in him that frightened him. He obviously was infatuated with her. But I don't think Taliesen can be brushed off easily either. And I don't think he was in love with either.
@Sabriana That says something about the writing, doesn't it. Because it doesn't get old. I still get all squee every time Zevran reveals something new to my Warden, and definitely when he falls in love with her. It is SO special!
What's the (Romantic) Appeal of Zevran?

Yes, yes, yes... I thought of this almost phrased the exact same way as I was doing my lunch thing... his basic nature is to care, in spite of everything that's been done to him. It really says something about his spirit and will that he was able to maintain that.Sannox wrote...
I do think the fact that he fell for the mage, and then for Rinna, and then the warden, shows that his true nature is loving.

Taliesin at that point doesn't really know what's going on. He knows Zevran's travelling with the party, and might know that he's sleeping with the Warden. He probably thinks Zevran's playing the Warden, although he probably can't figure out why. So saying, "You don't even know who you're talking about" mean IMO that he thinks it's not only casual sex, but Zevran's using the Warden (certainly it can't be the other way around because Zevran would have killed them and left by that point). I'm sure the possibility that Zevran's in love isn't even in the same solar system.jenovan wrote...
if, when confronting Taliesen, you say "Zevran belongs with me now", I'd always assumed that Taliesen interprets that as, the Warden is in love with Zevran and is sort of stating their relationship... His reply is "You don't even know who you're talking about, do you?" Without thinking too hard about it, to me that always sounded like, he's dismissing the affair as another of Zevran's purely physical flings. In light of the discussions here today, it kinda changes the feel of that line for me, somehow... I can't quite articulate it at the moment, but it has got to be a slap in the face for Taliesen when Zevran replies with "And neither do you"... Zevran's obviously changed, and, as Creature put it a few days ago, he just dumped Taliesen in front of everybody.Going in with the assumption that they were lovers changes the feel of some of the dialogue considerably...
That's crazy talk!Augh, this is SO much more interesting than writing user manuals.

Ooooh, ok, now I understand better, and yes, I do agree that it is always in his nature to care. He considers it a weakness of his character, though, that he's not colder. *sigh* and *squee* and all that.
Edit: I'm going to spend a bit more time reading, and a bit less responding, which will lead to a whole lot more *sigh* and all! Good, squeeful *sighs* of course.

I also found it underwhelming. Probably because I don't depend much on a staff, therefore it didn't seem worth the big layout. If you're a DPS mage, especially the BM/AW combination, the staff just isn't that important.MorGothic wrote...
It's a better staff generaly but it costs 124 gold...
Excellent info here on blood mage/AW, too! Crikey, I might have to go back and replay some of my last game. That poor girl got re-worked and re-speced so many times that she must have schizophrenia. But since I'm not that enthusiastic about any of my new characters, it may be worth it, also to re-live the Zevsquees.

That's expensive, MorGothic. I usually use all my PCs gold to get Zevran..., I mean my companions better gear. I have to see about finding a way to get some more for the staff. I've looked at WinterForge, but I'm a little scared of big mods. However, the options to stat up your gear yourself, and recoloring things is quite tempting.
Btw, with the 'Fade" mod, did you get your XP? I thought I read somewhere that the creator didn't put that in because s/he didn't know how much to give out.
The Winter Forge is absolutely awsome, I can only recommend it! The new version has just been released and it's a lot more comfortable to use than the previous one. It's all set up very logically and with a little background reading on the project's (very well made) website, you should have no trouble.
Enchanting stuff for your companions (and yourself) is so much fun, I love coming up with ideas what items to enchant for them. For example my new PC (another Dalish, will I ever be able to play another
origin?!) is going to enchant Varathorn's Amulet (ingame description: "A pendant of ironbark, worked into the shape of a heart overgrown with vines."
) for Zevran and he will get it after we
encounter Taliesen. Its still a long way off, but I'm already looking
forward to it.
I also really appreciate that the mod allows my companions to keep their personal items (Zevran's belt, Alistair's runic worry token, Morrigan's necklace, Sten's Asala etc.) but they can all get useful enchantments on them.
So in short: get The Winter Forge, it's a fantastic mod!

the 124 gold staff was a godsend for my normal mage if only for the +2 mana regen and to put it bluntly you can end up with so much gold by the end of the game its ridiculous (even without the lyrium potion trick)

That makes sense -- given how the Crows operate, I could imagine Taliesen figures this is some ploy of Zevran's (presumably to survive, since he's obviously ...? not interested in killing the Warden at this point).Creature 1 wrote...

Oh, I used staff, but just didn't need it much since I had so much badass DPS spellpower without it. I had Torch of Embers staff and I missed it after I sold it to "level up" to Staff of Magister Lords. I swear I was doing more damage with ToE. If your mage is cold-based, Winter's Breath would be better, of course. Otherwise I used Spellweaver when melee enemies closed in. They rarely got close.Sabriana wrote...

Jenovan, what do you make of Taliesen's "I know why you did it and I understand. come back with me, and we'll make up a story" Do you think that is because Taliesen thinks Zevran is biding his time? But why would they then have to make up a story if those actions were within the Crows mode of operation?
Well, Charsen, I always say, in a single player game, who are you really cheating?

Actually, to me, that line implies that Taliesen knew (by now, probably not originally...) or had an inkling, of Zevran's death wish -- or, at least, his wish to leave the Crows. Now, whether he thinks Zevran was upset about Rinna, or about his worthlessness, who knows... I guess it might depend on if Taliesen was present when Zevran got his verbal backstab from the Crow master or not...
(I keep editing this.. d'oh...)

LOL, this is the main reason I use it, to change item models, the Helm of Honnelth, for example, love the stats but hate the helm model so I changed to the Horned Helm which looks awesome on a Male Dwarf.
I really enjoy creating character builds I'd normal start of with an idea to aim for something (like max +% Spirit Damage) and go from there researching best weapons and items etc. I'm think about doing a DSP S&S Warrior with Heavy Armour next (although I may use a Dagger instead of a Sword.)

That could well be, because Zevran says "When *we* reported back to them...." He did say 'we' didn't he? Sheesh, you'd think I'd remember that, seeing how often I've played the Zevran conversations.
