What's the (Romantic) Appeal of Zevran?

Imagine, after all the play-throughs, we still find new and exiting things about him. Like a never-ending onion. No matter how many layers you pull, it never ends.

One of these days, I'm going to write a FAQ: How NOT to end up romancing Leliana. Can you believe I actually had trouble starting it when I wanted to romance her?

I love Sten too. It is so very easy for my PC to gain his respect, and he grows so much during the quests. From "you can't be a woman" to "kadaan" is an awesome journey. He does remind me a lot of Zevran and the depth you will only uncover if you take the time to get to know him.
MorGothic, we here actually don't mind if you don't 'squee', as long as you don't stereotype

Everytime someone talks about onions I have to think about the movie Shrek. o.o'Sabriana wrote...
Aside from those cool pics you mean, Ramante? Don't let anyone pull you down, this thread is going well, and most things do have Zevran implications, even if they are not specifically mentioned. After all, we all know why we are here, don't we? That elf. Tsk, tsk.

Romancing Leliana is very simple, just play the game with the idea of not romancing her. For some reason she always falls in love with the Warden if it is not intended. And she doens't fall in love when you want her to fall in love.
Women.
Wait... What?

All I do do in this thread is give advice (not that I mind) as I don't *squee* over Zev (PLEASE DON'T HURT ME *wimper*)...and I don't *squee* anyway (well...I lie...I kind of do when Sten calls my character Kedan for the first time and says he hope never to meet me on the battlefield...By the stone Sten is awesome...). I do however think he's a awesome character.![]()

Yeah but I can try...I'm going to do her personal quest too...

It's trueMaybe males have it worse? As a woman, it's best not to touch the subject of her sexuality ("Do you often enjoy other women's company?" etc.) and you should be fine. Never, EVER tell her you hope you could become someone special to her. I don't know what else turns the romance on. Conversations about shoes and hair never did it for me
now why would I (a gay man) flirt with a video game female I happen to find incredibly annoying and cant stand?
her flirting lines are all but obvious outside the shoes (which I dont get since im a guy and shoes do sod all for me) and we dont get the stupid hair conversation
I can be outright rude and spiteful to her and she still goes ZOMG U LUV ZEVRAN!!!!!!

So is Daveth. I swear, I claim sexism. The MPC gets to kiss Bella and Kaitlyn, the FPC doesn't get a cuddle with neither Gilmore nor Daveth.
Instead we get Dairren (the other origins get even less). Oh please. I use him for RPG purposes, but one of these days my PC will pick Iona. Even though she'll feel bad about perhaps exploiting an elven woman.

Edit: Or maybe that's the key: (from wiki)
Getting involved with both Alistair
(female PC) and Leliana in the same storyline is possible but requires
careful timing. If they both hit high disposition at the same time, they
will offer mutually exclusive romance options, and your choice will
make the other one unavailable for the rest of the game.

Keep the goodies coming about Gilmore, Soulsweeper. I swear, that is one NPC who would give Zevran a run for his the money. He'd most likely win out, but Gilmore is definitely swoon-worthy.

What is it with Dairren? I've done the origin 3 times as a female rogue and the only thing I get is talking to him when your mom is standing next to you. I feel like I'm missing something. xD
The Dwarven noble has Gorim... but that's not much. I do think that the romances are lacking in the origin stories..
Thankfully Zevran is there do balance that out. (is this a normal sentence? xD)

My poor DNF found Gorim last night. There are a lot of emotional encounters in this game, but coupled with what Gorim tells her about her father, this has to rank up there. I expended a couple tissues running the convo a few times. Zevran looking on, as she tells Gorim "I could never find a man better than you." She really believes it at this point. I think she'll pull into a darkspawn-killing shell, so I doubt it will be much trouble for her to wait until Zevran offers the massage (so that she can get The Kiss, of course!). I'm holding out for "do you stare at everyone like that" and things can take their course from there.
And does she ever get over running through the Market District and hearing Gorim yelling "fine dwarven crafts"? *sob*

Careful though. When Howe's murderous minions arrive, the scene with either Dairren or Iona is quite disturbing.

To get either Dairren or Iona to keep you company (yes, they both swing both ways), just go to the study (a room attached to the library where Aldous is) and speak to them. You get the opportunity to invite either one to your bedroom for the night.

I've done something stupid... I downloaded the Zevran ASAP mod, but my MDE is passed Lothering and busy killing werewolves... without Zevran. This means I lost Zev right? *looking for a reason to delete a playthrough so she can start a new one*

I don't know about that, Ramante. I only tried the Zevran ASAP mod with a new character. If you have it installed, Zevran's intro should have come right after Loghain's 'Denerim' speech. You would have really no choice but to meet him after leaving Lothering (well, actually, the camp after the 'nightmare').

What were you saying about Gorim? I'm a soft sot, I guess, but my characters often end up getting caught up in their origin romances. Not Dairren, but Nelaros and Gorim definitely.
I'm roleplaying my Dwarf very similiary. Even chose the same line about never being able to find a better man, although she was tempted to call him a jerk and yell at him. But I missed The Kiss with Zevran - she invited him to her tent right after this meeting.

Dairren practically comes onto you as a guy if you pick the right options when your talking to him in the study and its so incredibly easy to get him flustered as well
he also comments when you meet him about how you beat the tar out of him at the last tournament

Just gotta say -- Daveth is awesome.
I think I may need to team up with soulsweeper on the anti-Leliana FAQ -- even though I don't know what I did. Playing a male character, I've officially gone all the way through and she's not gone romantic at all. I was so relieved. XD (Although I'm going to have to replay the bit about "Your Zevran" to see all of what she has to say... heh heh XD)

I've started like 3 HNM playthroughs, but I always stop when I reach Ostagar... I really don't like their faces. I started one MDE playthrough... that one looked decent (might have something to do with the fact that my sister created him). I only make male charas to romance Morrigan and Leliana (I cannot romance her as a female, actually I can't romance her at all).Sabriana wrote...

I started 2 FCE playthroughs and stopped after the origin because I didn't like the way they look in the 'avatar' picture (yes, I have issues).
I started 2 dwarf origins, and again didnt pass Ostagar... I just can't play as a dwarf.
Leaves one thing: play as a HNF or a Mage.
