Having just replayed the Taliesin encounter, my theory is that perhaps Taliesin came and found him or helped him cover it up in some way, like he offers to do again?

Hmm, this came up a while ago and I think there were all sorts of ideas.. XD  I think one of the stronger ones was that the Dalish didn't live up to his expectations -- perhaps they didn't want him, were snobbish to him, even chased him off -- and he went back to the Crows voluntarily.  Because the Dalish weren't the family he was seeking.  (there was some discussion that in order to have enough freedom to run away, he was probably at least a young teen, maybe older -- the Dalish may take in children, but a near-adult with a lifestyle/upbringing they'd find distasteful? Hmm..)  I'm sure others will pick this up and run with it, though XD

I don't think anyone raised the idea of Taliesen being involved at all though -- now that's an interesting twist!

hes also a stupidly high level as well (lv23 and 1/2 way to lv24) and I have no idea how I got that high :3

Yeah, I've never gotten past lvl 20 even. But then again, I keep missing the whole 'crime wave' quest line. I've never met Slim, even when my PC had stealth/stealing, but after my reinstall I did. But being so used to not doing it, I keep forgetting about it. I might have to re-load my rogue and do them, just to see what they are all about.

However, my mage (soon to be my BM/AW) is barely out of Ostagar. So I have to resist the temptation to play her and have my rogue do the quests first instead.

As for teen boys, I can relate. I actually have one of each. Trust me, teen girls (especially hard-headed, tomboyish, intelligent ones) can be far worse that the male variety. Thank goodness my teen-boy has a girlfriend with her head screwed on right. My girl on the other hand... *sigh*

My latest characters have been level 23 or 24 when finishing. But, I admit I sometimes use the elfroot-Allies bin exploit towards the end if I'm wishing for a particular talent.

I actually think they took him in, since in the Dalish origin you meet a elf named Pol (?) who came to them from an alienage. I think that maybe the lifestyle was just totally different. They hunt for their meals, revere gods he doesn't (seem) to believe in and he is an assassin, which I'm guessing they wouldn't approve of. I think the Dalish would be more likely to try and change him instead of running him off. In the Dalish origin, they talk about finding a new homeland and teaching the "flat-ears" (City Elves) about their past.

That's the impression I got anyway.

Elfroot/allies exploit? What areth thou speaking of Addai?

99 elfroot given to ally crates gives a specific amount of exp. Give a stack, hit Varathorn, buy a stack, go to camp, give a stack, repeat. It's slow, but can get you to the lvl cap. You can also do the Trap exploit in Lothering.

you can buy infinate ammounts of elfroot for dirt cheap and give them to the dalish in your camp for exp

Question for those of you who use Dialogue Tweaks... this is supposed to allow you to kiss Zevran in public, yes? I installed v. 93a, but no smoochie. The smoochie is a lie! LOL

What did I do wrong? It appears in my DA Modder list as installed, I did a new save before trying it, character is romancing Zevran but I only get the options to tell him to leave or to break up (heaven forfend).

the kissing option only appears after a certain amount of Approval its hard tomiss its at the bottom dialogue option when you first talk to him

I don't think it's in my either, and mine is installed correctly because it works everywhere else.

I'm sorry to be so far behind but I just wanted to mention something about Zevran's ability as an assassin. I agree that he doesn't make the effort when you first meet him because he wants to die. But I think he's supposed to be good at this job, and doesn't Taliesin call him the 'great' Zevran? As if he's talked about back in Antiva.



However there were a couple of his conversations with Alistair which puzzled me. Alistair presses him about why the Crows sent such a bad assassin, and he's not talking about the ambush but says that he's been watching him, and he's no master of combat. (This was later in the game for me, when Zevran was uber in combat, so it sounded strange). Later, Zevran explains to Alistair that the assassins bid for the contracts (by giving a portion of the earnings to the guild - which surprised me, as I'd imagined from Zevran's first conversation that the guild was paid directly), and that not only was his the best bid but the only bid.



The implication was that he wasn't one of the best - not one of the worst either. He was capable (the Grey Wardens were only recruits), but got the job because nobody else wanted it.

Sannox, given that the Crows were hired to kill Wardens, the price would have been VERY HIGH for Loghain and Howe. Zevran likely bid that he take NOTHING of the contract price, giving it all to the Crows. He expected to die, so what need of money would he have?

Oh bummer. I have DT, and the smoochie shows up. Out of camp, Zevran and another companion even have dialogue. I wish I could help, hopefully someone a lot smarter about mods will show up soon and help.

I'm loading saves on previous characters, maybe that's why?

Plus, he also states that moving against Grey Wardens is considered impolitic, even by the Crows. Ignacio also states that the GW contract would be one he would never touch.

I also don't think that Alistair knows much about rogues. He's always busy to tank, head on, and too busy to realize that Zevran deals huge amounts of damage.

And I see you all passed 300 pages.  Wow.  I first started reading somewhere around page 120 (plus the first 20 or so pages to get context).  I haven't been following as long as many of you, but it's still a little frightening to consider how much time I've devoted to Zevran.


Also, a quick question for the Zevran expert panel.  I took Zevran with me to meet Ruck, it's the first time I've done that so far.  From what I've read previously I was under the impression that Zev would suggest killing Ruck, but that didn't happen for me.  Was Zevran supposed to say something?  Maybe I just misunderstood what I had read previously, or maybe my game hit a glitch.  The other party members with me were Alistair and Wynne, if it makes a difference.

All those dwarf ladies are so pretty. I wish someone would make a mod overriding the ridiculous arms. The male dwarf has normal arms, or so it seems, why do the women have Orang-Utan arms?

Arundor, you have to pick a certain dialogue to spring Zevran (and Oghren if he's with you) into action. I think it's the "you've been her for two years? You poor dear." PC line that does it. At least it's the one in my game.
