The dazip works perfectly. I'm completely on squee overload at this point. Yes, the proposal never will grow old.

Ummmm, any more testing that needs done?

Edited because I don't want to be on top of a page with just a smiley. Pfeh.

So here's romance a la Sindya and Zevran

Ah poor Alessar!

Ok - after discussing the dazip issue with Vaire (author of Dialogue Tweaks) I believe we have a better solution instead of using my dazip.

Apparently anything you place in your core/override folder WILL partially overwrite any dazip installation. This is *wonderful* news because I was not keen on maintaining compatibility with mods that only affect Leliana, for example.

So I will write up some instructions and upload a new file to the Zevring within the hour. Plus, I am already working on an upgrade for the give-gesture and fixed a few of the responses that should lead to a ring but do not. That will be up, hopefully, in an hour or two.

I agree- When I first played through, that was the option I picked. When I didn't get the ring, I reloaded and took the ring after Taliesin, figuring he thought I was some kind of ingrate.
:crying:

I think the earring part of the game is really counter-intuitive.  If by that time, your character has fallen for him and cares about him, they're liable to choose the 'wrong' answers.   On my first playthrough, I chose the option of wanting the gift to mean something but when he was upset I couldn't bear it and reloaded.   He's so utterly devoted and caring through the rest of the game, that by the end it seems petty to hassle him about giving you a gift.  I think that your character knows that's a big deal for him, and that's enough - the talking could come later.   He has told the warden enough about his background to explain why he's reticent.  I don't think it's fair to push him on it, if it upsets him at all.

The second time I refused the earring, and didn't reload.  I tried to justify it as my character letting him know that he cared, to make it easier for him.   But still - if you go straight to the following quest, there's quite a while before you get a chance to talk.

ETA: I'm really looking forward to trying the mod with my new characters.  Thank you for making it. :)

This time, when I fought Zevran, he woke up between some poor dead woman's legs. I so wanted to make some comment about it not being the first time.

Sannox, it's a funny thing with the earring. I actually DID refuse it my first playthrough. I had been burned by Alistair, big time, and my character was just as gun shy as Zevran -- this was on a spoiler-free playthrough as well, where I promised myself no reloads. I actually like it (probably because it was such a fabulous follow up for me) -- that you get something even more for refusing the earring unless Zevran was willing to admit his feelings, though obviously, the dialog when you do accept it at first is nearly as nice.

My real problem is after you've rejected it, when he's declaring his feelings, the very nicest thing you can say to him at that point leads to him not offering it a second time, which seems like a bug.

The really strange thing, you don't have to take an approval loss at all when refusing the earring. You can lose up to 20 approval in that conversation, but most of the approval loss comes from telling him to just keep it, not letting him know you want it as a token of affection.

Edit: I do understand your point.  It's actually the main reason I wrote my FAQ.  It's such a beautiful ending to such a gritty romance, and one that many people miss.  But I don't know how you could actually change it.  The second offer of the earring is a proposal, and how do you have that without refusing it first?

It always amazes me how similar our first play-through was, Ejoslin. And I agree, that some of the seemingly sweet answers to a beloved man can lead to all kinds of missing things, turned off things (It would be hard to kiss you...etc) and the like in that romance. Thank goodness DT fixed at least the kiss.

.... I had a question for the esteemed panel, and I've forgotten it, so I'll ask a different, non-Zevran related one (boo!) instead...

I had my PC do the Dark Ritual, and I really, really could have sworn that at the gates of Denerim, when PC talked to Alistair during the "talk to everyone" cutscene, Alistair said something about Morrigan's ritual working or not...  but then at the epilogue, it sounded as if he'd never heard of it. <_<  I can go back and replay the gates later ()  but does anyone else remember/not remember that?

Jenovan that seems to be a bug. Some other people talked about that in other threads. I really hoped DT fixed those bugged endings, but I guess there were so many, the creator couldn't even begin to catch them all.

Edited to scream for help:

I am playing the game so I stole borrowed my daughter's laptop. But it's much smaller than mine and the fonts in the forum are so dang small. Is there any way to enlage them?

In truth, Sabriana, our first playthroughs were so similar I can't help but wonder if the writers expected at least femwardens to react exactly that way, rejecting the earring.  I am glad that DT fixed the kiss, but I wish there had been something added to keep it casual.  I don't think it was a bug, but at the same time, it stopped so many romances RIGHT THERE that it's good that was changed.

One thing about Zevran's dialogs, though, is having so many different responses to various dialogs keeps it fresh for sure. He really is such a complex character -- nothing for him is obvious.  And I still wonder about how easy it is to glitch him into (Love) early -- whether it really is a bug or just something else about the character.  But it doesn't matter, I love it when it happens.

edit: Sannox, that picture is a RIOT!

Ok guys, just uploaded the last (i hope) update for the DT compatible version of the regular Zevring fix. After considering Ramante's confusion about the dazip, I decided that it was better if I don't actually include a dazip because it's always going to be too cumbersome:

In terms of priority, the game will load dazips first, then stuff in your core/override folder. So in order for me to have a dazip, I would have to include ALL of the dialogue tweaks, and that is a repackaging of someone else's work, which I am not comfortable with for many reasons.

But it's ok! If you use my files and plop them in your core/override directory, you don't have to worry about uninstalling Vaire's Dialogue Tweaks at all. In fact, it's actually easier this way because it's just a direct copy. =)

Let me know if there are any problems! I'll be releasing it to Nexus soon, and then I plan to work on the ZevringPlus with dialogue tree updates and animation tweaks.

Yay!  More testing!    And you are talented, and it IS a big deal, especially for people like me who can't even open the stupid toolset!

Edit: But you have spent so much time on this.  And it is SO appreciated!

That's entirely possible, but so many players miss that wonderful conclusion if refused.

I also agree on the kiss. Yes, they should have put something in that would keep the entanglement casual, but the kiss was not such a good choice. Especially because Zevran does not have the option to be kissed whenever the PC wants to (without DT).

That puts an entirely new spin on this conversation...

Zevran: Poor man, all this constant walking has gotten to you.  Do you know what you need?
PC: A horse?
Zevran: Well...

(insert innuendo of your choice here)  :wizard:

Yes all the Antivan troops can be found with a compass and a Mabari.

However, they're a guerilla army cuz they are always hiding in the bushes:whistle:
