I agree, I think Jon Curry departed from the script a bit. But I think the decision was in character.

Player: Do you actually enjoy being an assassin?
Zevran: You are respected. You are feared. The authorities go out of their way to overlook your trespasses. Even the rewards are nothing to turn your nose up at.
VOComment: ticking these things off on his fingers

Zevran: As for the killing part, well... some people simply need assassinating. Or do you disagree?
VOComment: said with a shrug

Zevran
: Now there's an interesting word, "innocent." How many men do you know who can claim to be truly innocent?
Vocomment: intrigued by the notion

Zevran
: As far as enjoying the act of killing itself, why not? There is a certain artistry to the deed, the pleasure of sinking your blade into their flesh and knowing that their life is in your hands.
VOComment: matter-of-fact, like he's talking about carpentry

Zevran
: It is not pleasure, per se. Nothing sexual. It is more a sense of satisfaction, a feeling of power. Does that make sense? No matter.
VOComment: indifferent -- he doesn't care if the player understands or not

Player
: I take no pleasure in killing.
Zevran: It is not pleasure, per se. Nothing sexual. It is more a sense of satisfaction, a feeling of power. Does that make sense? No matter.
VOComment: indifferent -- he doesn't care if the player understands or not

Zevran
: There are many things I did not enjoy about being a Crow, of course. Having no choice, being treated as an expendable commodity, the rules... oh so many rules!
VOComment: rolling his eyes

Player
: Don't you have any other skills?
Zevran: None that I wouldn't get into trouble for performing publicly.
VOComment: wink wink nudge nudge

Zevran
: But simply being an assassin? I like it just fine. I will continue to do it, if I can, even if I am not a Crow. Honestly, could you picture me doing something else?
Player: No, I suppose not.
Zevran: Hmm. Somehow that sounds less complimentary than I had anticipated.
VOComment: disappointed

edit: sorry for text block

The LM does not take any of the Warden PCs seriously unless there is corroboration or proof of what you say from others in the hall or from the slaver document.  Even a Cousland, who would naturally have more sway, is leveled because of Howe's accusation that your family was conspiring with the Orlesians (seeing CZ's screen shot of the sad fate of Ser Gilmore and Mother Malloy, I can only conclude that they ended up that way because they were tortured to get some sort of "confession" out of them to back Howe's bogus claims).

The game does make a couple acknowledgements of your status as an elf being a hindrance at the LM, but only in conversation between your PC and Alistair (elf-specific) and between the PC and Anora (non-specific "I'm not as important as you think" comments).

This one we've called here before!  So he's not entirely indifferent to what the PC thinks of him at that point.  I've always heard this dialogue as him speaking rote, as though he's just spitting back his training.  I guess that accords with the VO notes about his "sinking blade in the flesh" reply.  Though I did wonder there if he was saying it as a test of the PC- apparently not.

Thank you!

*Hugs the stuffing out of Charsen, and then hands him the cookie jar*

That is so major great. I hate that I can't look for myself.

By the way, while you are around, I downloaded the ZevranDTPlus files. That's all I need, right? I know, probably a stupid question, but I got a bit confused by all the files. I get easily confused in the evening.

Plus, my daughter taped my kitchen cabinets shut with masking tape. Pffft. Her revenge for me putting all her penguin figurines in the freezer. Honestly. They didn't complain. Not at all. Silly daughter.

Zevran: Jealous? Laughs Not I, no. But one does not need to be jealous to be leery of rushing headlong into... complicated situations.
VOCommImage IPBent: amused -- but also broaching an awkward topic

Zevran: Our flirtation has been fun, but if you believe that what you and Alistair have is real perhaps it would be best if we desisted. Complication avoided, everyone is happy.
VOComment: being eminently reasonable

Player: You're being a little presumptuous.
Zevran: Perhaps I am. I have always believed in being direct when the situation calls for it, however.
VOComment: direct

Zevran: I suspect Alistair, however, would not feel the same way. If there is to be something between you and I, to string him along would only hurt him deeply. Surely you know this is true.
VOComment: uncomfortable

Zevran
: And what would you have me do, then? I am many things: A murderer, a thief, a lover... but I am no cheat. If whatever is between us cannot be honest, let it not be at all.
VOComment: uncomfortable

Player: I want you. No question.
Zevran: And glad I am to hear it. You will need to be the one that tells Alistair, however.
VOComment: relieved

Player: You leave me no choice. Alistair it is.
Zevran: Ah, well. What can I say, truly? Alistair is a lucky man.
VOComment: disappointed

Player: There was never any "you and I."
Zevran: Ah. Then it was good we settled this now, no?
VOComment: sad

Zevran: At any rate... the air is now clear and we are free to continue on. Come! We've much to do.
VOComment: disappointed but trying to look on the bright side

Player: It's not what you think.
Zevran: Isn't it? I've watched you and he together. I know a complication when it rears its head and threatens to bite.
VOComment: "who are you kidding?"

Afternoon/Evening All...

@ Charsen - Damn your toolset skills...I still can't make head or tail of the thing and the Toolset Wiki isn't very helpful, don't suppose you know of anywhere that I could learn how to use it? A DA Toolset for Idiots guide would be nice.:innocent:

As for the Orlesian occupation - I do belive it should have been driven home more just how bad it was and that Loghian was a HERO, the problem is if you haven't read the books it's easy to dismiss him as someone who is paranoid about the Orlesian's for no real reason and is simply after power because until you recruite him you don't learn anything about him except what Arl Eamon tells you. I belive this is what people base their opinion's on when they execute him "because he deserves a traitors death" which is just wrong.

About the AW/BM - I've been playing about when it today and it is ludicrously powerful, but I'm having a lot of trouble with what talents to pick aside from the obvious ones, equipment is simple although I need to find a shield, but I'm about to look for some build guides for some ideas.

OOOOOH! Charsen, thank you so much! We called that one as well! *sigh* Ok, at least I'm convinced that Zevran really was falling in love all the time, it never was casual. But everything he was feeling was entirely new to him and he had no clue how to react to anything.

Edit: He definitely sounds awkward there when you ask him if he's jealous -- like it's something he never even considered.  But it's there.

Well, not to sidetrack too much, but I've read the novels and they only convince me more that Loghain deserves a traitor's death.

Ah thanks. My last character unfinished is HN and I would have thought he'd have more respect [instant respect, just add title] in the LM. Looks like I have some Cousland intriquing to look forward to.

I really wish the LM  hadn't been "levelled" [again maybe techincal] because it would have been fascinating to play it through with some other possible ramifications at LM. I mean like elf rudeness [my city elf exploded and it ended in a riot could have been even better] and the HN having more sway than a dwarf etc.

Imagine shield bashing Alistair a good one for dumping an elf lover or getting in some lord's face for not immediately siding with the PC as a Cousland [ah the betrayal of alliances!]--it would have been wildly realistic:O

MorGothic i would recommend checking out hmm... aha: SilentCid for his video tutorials and also dragonage22 but those are sometimes a little vague imo, that will at least get you eased into the basics! from that point it depends on what part of the toolset piques your interest - i agree though, the toolset wiki is frustrating and the toolset forum is basically dead so if you have a question, good luck getting an answer *thumbs in eyes*

Sabriana yes ma'am, you just put those files in your packages/core/override folder (or a subfolder in that directory if you want to keep it clean) =)

Well I didn't see Loghain as completely evil and I only have the game. It may well come from a differing cultural perspective, as well or just an understanding of invasions and history and how they play out. Even as a city elf I "got it" although I beheaded him anyway. [hey don't hurt my daddy or my people because I will 'ave you!]--it was personal revenge all the way and I knew it.

I also never trusted Eamon's position from the start even as CE because he tosses Alistair aside at the first sign of personal discomfort [boo hoo wifey doesn't like him? What a wuss!] then recruits the bastard son to be the King? As  a CE trusting no human motives at all--I found him highly manipulative and didn't trust his agenda. I found it highly hypocritical that a concern would be that if Alistair would be considered Eamon's son then he could inherit from Eamon and Eamon shoves him out in favor of his wife and Connor--then uses his bastard status to make him a claimant to the throne? That's so hypocritical as to defy any honour the man might possibly claim to have. Then he does nothing about evil Orlesian wifey. That would be enough right there for a man like Loghain to see him as an evil piece of work. I was utterly disgusted with Eamon from every PC's viewpoint.

Those were some nifty battle-action shots, Cuddles.

By the way, just how many screen-shots do you have? You seem to have one for every occasion. You didn't get me this time with the dwarf-sex though. I wisely put down my coffee. I'm on to you ;)

I'd prefer a "behead Isolde" mod--the trophy wife caused the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of villagers and knights because she wanted Connor to inherit. If that's not completely self-serving I don't know what is. If she'd sent Connor off to mage school and got knocked up again, her position would have been assured since she's obviously much younger than Eamon. But noooooooooooooooooo--she hires Jowan, regardless of how she found him because she was bullspitting everyone in sight.

Now if there's one truly evil character in the game--she's IT.

@Swifty: Eamon's take on it is also a product of his post-trauma about the Orlesian occupation. However, he is coming at it from the Calenhad royalist perspective. What he did to Alistair as a child was to protect Cailan's rule (besides the whole thing with Isolde), what he does to Alistair in game is also to protect the Theirin throne. The occupation was only ended because Fereldans rallied around a Theirin. As he tells you, he fears that without that unifying force, the country will not hold together. Loghain still takes paranoia much further, however. Eamon didn't poison anyone.

To keep it on topic, I wish our PCs could ask Zevran's opinion on all this. He has a fine understanding of politics, though Ferelden seems to baffle him a bit.

Well he never got out alive with me either. Too bad wifey wasn't there and she's screwed [depending on the inheritance laws for women in Fereldon] because Connor is off to mage school and with Eamon dead she's not getting preggers again. Of course Teagon was another idiot so maybe she'll seduce him, now.
