I don't care for vodka. My usual martinis use gin.

I'm in the opposite, Creature.  I can't do gin.  Actually, there are only three things I can drink without severe repercussions.    Good tequila (anejo, 100% agave), good whiskey (bourbon, prefer Woodford Reserve), and micro brewery beer.  I live on the northern coast of CA, and we have some wonderful micro breweries here.

Most of the time, I don't drink anything.  When I do, it's what I listed above.  

Tonight is special.  I did yard work, so I'm indulging.

Oh, Creature, that IS good news.  A customer where I work said it's like sweet wine, but very very strong.  Is that true?  Is it sweet AND high alchohol content?  Sounds wonderous!  What does it taste like to you?

You don't drink vermouth on its own. Just add like a half-teaspoon to a martini, maybe more, maybe less. Let me go sip some and I'll tell you what it tastes like alone. I think it's pretty vile by itself. . .

If it's vile I don't want to torture you to satisfy my curiosity.  XD
I require strong drinks in order to even get a buz.  One time my step dad made a Chiraz wine, and it turned out 'wrong', and I've never been able to find anything like it since.  Sweet and flowery with an alchohol level that could knock you off your feet.  I got the whole thing to myself!  But he never made it again.  Now I can't find the right drink for me.  Most wines I've tasted are awful bitter garbage.

I do it for Science! Plus I put some in with some tequila and olives.
It's kind of like a port, but lighter, and seems kind of salty or sour or something indescribable. 18% alcohol.
It sort of mellows out gin and tequila, and makes vodka taste like *something*. Goes well with olives.
Edit:  Maybe not precisely vile, but I'm not about to have a glass of vermouth before bed.

Interesting.  I'm disapointed, though.  only 18%?  I guess I'll try mixing it.

Besides honestly being drunk is fun a few times, but i prefer a nice buzz or tipsy but not more... as i am a happy buzz and slobbery sad drunk

I like the taste of alchohol.  My problem is not being able to afford top shelf liquors and the stuff that you need for mixed drinks gets expensive...  And if you're trying to disguize a cheep liquor, you have to use so much of the other ingredients that the drink ends up weak.  I don't drink often, but I've got a very high alcohol tolerance for some reson, so getting a buzz is ether a matter of stomaching something that tastes bad or spending beyond my means.  'tis frustrating.    I am ever on the search for the best of both worlds.

Oh, I've heard of everclear.  I'm intrigued.  Is it true that it's flavorless?  I bet I could mix that with stuff and still get an efect.

Aw.  Yeah, I prefer a buzz, too, but it's strangely hard to maintain without reaching the point of 'drunk' at some point.  But I don't stay drunk for long.  I'm a happy drunk.  Give me some alchohol and I can let my guard down a bit and all feels right in the world.  A good strong buzz is such a warm fuzzy fealing.

It's good for my muse, too.  I wrote some of my best poems under the influence.  I miss it.  lol  I've written NOTHING lately.  T_T

My friend is like that.. she does well with the moderately priced vodkas and rum though, but man... she won't even come in my apartment if i have rum and rock band out anymore... not since the bon jovi youtube incident of 2008
