Morning lovelies. Ejoslin, could you look up his other post-coronation dialogues? Specifically I'm wondering about the Friend dialogue. My theory was that unless you say "you're welcome to stay," he interprets it as ending the friendship. It sounds to me, if I respond "you can go if you come back," that he turns wistful and like he'll never see my character again.

I'm really tempted to ask you to look up some Alistair dialogues, too, but I don't want to monopolize your time. :) I think I'm stoking my inner Ali-girl out of disappointment that there'll be no Zevran in the expansion.

Grr at D2D, which is rejecting my perfectly fine credit card. I think they're sparing their servers. So it might be a few days until I can get my hands on Awakenings, too. Meanwhile the forum has turned spoilerific.

Yes, we are dead sexy!

Fixed it for you, Minaleth.

What? You can get the 'stare' conversation even if you never turned the romance on before? I thought that was reserved for the 2nd attempt? Why can't I get that option? Darnit.

Thanks again MG. I'll give it whirl, I feel encouraged.

All the blank means is the romance has begun, but it's not high enough to be interested yet (which SHOULD happen at 26+ but apparently Sresla and Minaleth are sexier than we are).

. Yeah, such a blow to the ego *sniffle*

I have to see if my PC is able to postpone turning on the romance. I am really interested if he shows up blank any which way, or just if the romance is turned on.

Edited to put in 3 cheers for Barking's spreadsheets.:wizard:

Too right - what's worse is that it was a subordinate that walked in.  Embarrassing case of do as I say, not as I do Image IPB

I'm loving being able to mouse over the approval bar now & see what the figure actually is.  The guesswork truly is aggravating on the PS3.

Awakenings release today!  We'll see if Amazon lives up to their preorder promise & it actually comes.  Although - I ordered PS3 version before I'd gotten DA:O for PC.   Sooo . .  . do I return PS3 Awakenings for a PC version, or rip it open & then spend money I don't have on another copy for PC . . .?

Yeah, I can see where this is going.  Who needs groceries, right?

Edit: Or new glasses (right, Sadi?)

Hello Addai.

Yeah Barking. Food is so overrated anyway.

Tap someone, Sadi? I feel so vampirish all of the sudden :)

Heh, I actually don't have too much more time this morning (been wasting it away, and steam should have Awakenings in 4 hours or so). But here you go on the Zevran ending.

Zevran: Yes, I think that will work, sad as I am to part company. (said with a sigh, he's made his decision)
Zevran: Well, then. I suppose I shall be leaving soon? Hmm. Perhaps Par Vollen? The qunari are pleasant folk, I hear. (he's off and already deciding where to go next)
Zevran: I hope fate decrees we meet again. Bonne niviati, as we say back home... drink well, and be merry. Life is good. (saying goodbye to a good friend)
"bonne niviati" = bawn nihv-ee-AH-tee, he's speaking his home tongue (sounds like Italian)

Romance ending if you choose that, though:

Zevran: Now there's a thought... adventure about the countryside and return to your arms when the mood strikes me? Best of both worlds. (amused by the idea)

The rest is the same.

I like the romance version of those lines, and that does sound like a mix of Italian and some other language...

Oh yes.  That's how I've turned the romance on with my virginal elf mage and now my DNF.  Once the approval gets high enough, it starts appearing in your dialogue choices.  On both I waited until I actually caught Zevran staring.  I really wonder if the AI tracks approval in such things.  Early on he didn't seem to stare much, but on DNF he eventually (at higher approval) stared at her for what seemed like a full minute.

Edit:  Re keeping Zevran's approval low but not too low... I did not have trouble with this on elven bloodmage.  She just responded openly but non-committally to his flirting ("we'll see," ok to call her beautiful, "do you stare at everyone like that?... no, not really offended") and didn't flirt with him.  No tent.  She gave him the gloves but I held back on the boots.  He was in the 60's by Taliesin with the romance on, so he left that confrontation.  Things heated up quickly after that.  Image IPB

I do picture Antivan culture as a sort of blend of Medicci Italy set somewhere in the hotter regions of Spain.

I chose this option once, and the bonne niviati made me squee, it just sounded so pretty. Image IPB  But yes, the "I hope we meet again" makes it sound like much more of a goodbye than the "You can go, if you come back" implies. Image IPB

I suppose Zevran wants to be wanted (or at least, enjoys being wanted), the choices where you ask him to stay seem to generate the happiest replies?...

Well heck. My mage already turned it on. Why are my mages all silly? Maybe I was smart enough to keep the save this time (from meeting up with Zevran). I have this annoying habit of saving over saves, and go "ooops" I want to see that 'stare dialogue' too /whine.

Well, I like the "You got me, and you're stuck with me" line the best ;)

No problem, try installing the .NET Framework (I did link to 3.5 right?) first as that just a simple download then install, if that doesn't work I will do a quick "How To" (I'm really hoping it isn't the second one due to the fact I personally have never had to do it, but seems simple to do)

I'm not certain I even know what the 'stare' conversation is.  Quote, anybody?

That's my conclusion!  Of course, my HNF would have gotten down on her knees in the LM chamber and begged him not to go, if that had been a dialogue choice.

You'll get an option (with the conditions we were talking about) to ask Zevran, "Do you stare at everyone like that?" to start or restart the romance :3

Hm, you mean how the mage he was sent to kill got on her knees and begged for her life? ;);)

I've just done Ostagar with my female human mage. Yes, I'm slow this time, and playing on hard setting which means I can't just send everybody into fight and wander around looting like usual. I took Zevran along deliberately (after using ZevranASAP). He asked for Maric's sword :). I'm confused about the approval and disapproval when it comes to Cailan's body. I knew Zevran disapproved of the funeral pyre, but I can't work out why. I tried all three options, and he also disapproved of leaving Cailan to the wolves. (So did Alistair, although I actually found that scene quite touching. Cailan isn't just dumped but it looks like he is laid out and we pay our respects). Zevran approved if I left the body up there.

So what's going on? Cailan wouldn't mean anything to him. It's not just the pyre he disapproves of, but any option other than leaving the body alone. Does he just feel differently about bodies and funerals? Is it a culture thing? What do they do in Antiva? Is it because we're singling out one person for special treatment? Does he disapprove of Cailan's part in the battle?

I don't mind losing a little Zev approval as it's so easy to make up but I was so confused that I ended up replacing him with Sten, and doing the funeral pyre to keep Alistair happy. Why, I don't know, because I'm trying to make my mage and him hate each other. I don't know if you can see but in this picture, they have their arms around each other.

Image IPB

Yes, I'd killed off the rest of my party. Still getting used to 'hard'. Maybe I should have gone for the emissary before the ogre.

OK! This I know. ONCE you hit 26+ for either Zevran or Alistair, you get a romance turn on line in the main dialog tree. Doesn't matter if it's first or second attempt. Zevran's is, of course, "Do you stare at everyone like that." Alistair's is, "Has anyone ever told you how handsome you are." Leliana does NOT get one of those -- only the guys like that type of approach I guess. Or the guys are more easy to really romance?

Edit: And I see this has been answered three times already.  Yay me!
