I agree I'm not sucked in to the characters as much as I was in DA:O, For one thing, for two of them, the character quests seemed to arrive very early in the game, and I would have liked those relationships to develop a bit first. But that might be the choices I made about where to go and what to do first.
BUT: I often feel the same way when I read trilogies. I usually love the first book in the series. Often the second book is a bit of a disappointment--the stuff that happens needs to happen to further the plot along, but what I miss about the first book is the whole "character comes of age" storyline. That's what we had in DA:O that we don't have in Awakenings.

I would expect a lot from a DA:O sequel, but I had really low expectations for the expansions/ extra content... so I'm not particularly disappointed. I didn't really expect the xpac to feel canon... and it doesn't.

Me too. Having fairly low expectations going in, I'm actually enjoying itCreature 1 wrote...
Oddly, my cynicism has protected me from disappointment, it seems.
But much more relevant to our interests....! I learned a very, VERY interesting spoiler.

I played a couple hours tonight. There was one little instance where I heaved a little *sob*. I'm trying not to be spoilerish, but those of you who've played might have noticed the line I mean when doing your recruiting.

But much more relevant to our interests....! I learned a very, VERY interesting spoiler. You can get to it from my blog, I hope (it's planted on LJ, although it may have found its way to these forums by now...). I kept my summary very vague, since I didn't want to spoil myself, but there are more details to be had that I linked to. :3

Oooh.. thanks for the good news!

I used to be yaoi fangirl wneh I was aroud 14-15, but I never really took it seriously. Some stuff was hilarious in a somewhat disturbing way. As for anime, saying that it's all bad is like claiming that all American movies are moronic. Anime = Japanese animation and that contains probably every genre and style known to mankind
But I agree that Hellsing rocks

I pre-ordered it at one of the largest stores and they had the 'Bregan's Bow' action going on, apparently only the first 200 customers would get the promo code.
And I'm one of them (go me!) and I pre-ordered the game last friday, so the game is not very popular or everyone in this country is very slow.
It really sucks btw that they put the Awakening stuff in the Origin part of the boards. I don't know which threads are save. xD
*going to read the last pages and jenovan's blog*

That's why I'm sticking to this thread only for a time being
I didn't pre-order the game. I'll be much better off buying it on Friday after work. Otherwise, I'm sure I wouldn't get until Monday

I'm a little pissed off actually... I'm very happy that I get that bow, but it is annoying that they send me the code (email) but I have to wait till tomorrow for the game. It would have made much more sense if they would just put a piece of paper with the code with the game. Now I know I'm getting a promo item, but I can't use it yet. >_<
Knowing that shop and our post office I will get the game like 6 pm tomorrow, which sucks even more, since I'm free tomorrow so I could play the game the entire day.

Tomorrow? Wait, aren't you in Europe?
Small country, next to Germany (*waves at Sabriana*).
Edit: because I suck at math, 3 posts back.

I know, that's why I'm confused. It's 18th tomorrow, so how come you could play the game? Isn't it out on 19th?

Translation: 'Not yet released - pre-order a copy. Available March 18 - 2010'
According to my pc and my internal clock, today it is the 17th, so tomorrow I should get it. o.o'
Edit: I don't hope they mean you can order it the 18th and they send it to you the 19th. that would really suck.

Wow, interesting. It says 19.03.2010 on Polish site, I thought it applied to whole Europe.
Edit in response to your edit: I hope you get it tomorrow and if not, I'm sure your order is still valid and they (the store) just made a spelling mistake. Which would still suck

I haven't purchased Awakenings yet.
Finished up the Dlaish elf while out of twon for work. And poor Alistair never even got Duncan's shield. And interesting enough, just at warm,. you can talk him out of sacrificing himself if you didn't do the ritual (I was under the impression that he would always do the sacrfice, nope, had to reload!)
Good morning from teh Denver, CO airport. 7 hours between layovers.....*sigh*

I know most people don't think Awakening is that great, but I feel very... nervous-happy about it. Must be the promo thing, it is working.
I got some nice Zev screenies btw, uploading as we speak (or I type o/w).

This is my big problem with it, a few hours in. It's fun, but I feel like I'm playing a Bethesda game and not a Bioware game. It's lonely.ejoslin wrote...
Anyway, I'll play awakenings a bit more today, see if I start actually caring about the characters in it (so far I don't). And then probably finish up the deep roads!
