I can't stay long. I'm at a buddy's house, watching him play through awakening. His PC is downstairs now (no spoilers), and I must say, the person's son who the HN detested the most is quite intriguing. Unfortunately, my friend's PC is a dwarf. I mean I've nothing against dwarfs, not at all, but I'd love to see the HN in that cut-scene.

There are some extra dialogue lines, but it's not terribly dramatic.

He is there to kill you, or at least that's why he came to Amaranthine.  This is where the *sob* line for Zevran fans come in.  Do you want to be spoilered further?

When you say you're going to conscript him, Howe asks if you would want to have someone in the Wardens who wanted to kill you.  You have an option to respond, "Some of my best friends have wanted to kill me."

Oh, no, no, no!  It's totally fine.  I just didn't want people thinking I made all this up out of whole-cloth.     Both his and Leliana's letters are in the .tlk tables for Awakenings.  So weird they didn't make it in game. 

ALSO: SORRY GUISE for getting everyone's hopes up.  Maybe this will lead to someone modding it in, though. 

It was actually my understanding that stuff in the .tlk files usually ended up in game.  I guess that's not necesarily true, though.  Crazy disappointing.

I read through it and it made me smile, but I'll have to do a more thorough reading later because I'm still stuck at work. 

Makes you want to knock on Zevran's head and say, "Hello????"  My PC too spends a lot of time wondering whether Zevran *really* cares and what he *really* wants.

I thought of that one already.  The game I loaded up had Alistair at 100 hostile and Leliana at 100 dead.

Edit: @Guilded Age, thank you again, and and thank you for that file!  Even if it's not in the game, at least it most likely can be added, as you (and Charsen ) say, and it's so sweet!

Even with the letter, my PC promised to protect Zev from the Crows every time. I cannot fathom just sending him off into their jaws alone, even as a friend.

It's hardly the worst of the hand waving, but I'm still disappointed. The game isn't bad, but neither is it that good.

@walina FORGET your epilogue card, especially if you went to rebuild the grey wardens with Zevran. Really, all the Epilogue cards were discounted. MY warden was the savior and new ruler of her people, and yet no one bowed to HER!

I actually thought about this, and at least the Grey Wardens one you can give a tiiiiny bit of a pass for Awakenings -- you haven't *started* rebuilding the Wardens yet when the game starts (... but seriously, what have you been doing instead?  ), so uh.. maybe your dear assassin will catch up with you just a tiny bit later. Yeah.

more like my luck since im the one who bashes her whenever I get the chance...

knowing my luck Ill load up dragon age and when ever I click on Zevran the game will think Im speaking to leliena instead of the hot elven assassin :3

Yes, it's taken some heart-blood out of me. Sheesh.

I do agree with CZ. MoTB was an expac, but it was simply great. This one is not bad, but..., I don't know, somehow I feel empty. I make my friend pick dialogues (not in a mean way or anything), but it still doesn't come close.

Just saw this CZ.  It's not terrible.  But you know if they make another expansion, epilogue cards will again be damned.

I do agree with CZ. MoTB was an expac, but it was simply great.

I think it helps with MoTB that the original game really was not that great (id rate is painfully mediocre) and it came as a surprise as just how much better MoTB was though during the skein part of the game that witches comments made me want to gouge her throat out but once I got past that part of the dungeon the cutscenes that followed once I got to said annoying witch was just wow...

plus the variety of ways you can get past the que is just wow (such as buying the boy from the ogres in the previous room and letting the monkey people in the next room eat him)

also the NPC's where great (one of the few games where I like all the NPC's and no they arnt all goodie goodie suck ups either)

Oh, crap, I though it was in the game.

I hope someone will make a mod and enable this because it would fit the the story, at least it will explain why Zevran or Leliana can't be with you!

also I know why the Dog isnt with your PC in awakening's you sent him off with Zevran to help protect the elf since you cant be with him! or thats how I wish it any ways

We don't know for sure that it's NOT in the game. I'm guessing not because Leliana fans are saying they got nothing but an epilogue card though the tlk file has a SPOILER from her as well. But no one can say it's NOT in there until they make it through the game.

The funny thing is, Awakenings has the potential of weaning me away from DA:O. In DA:O I genuinely feel sucked into another world. In Awakenings, I'm distinctly aware I'm playing a game. I can tell by my dialog choices that the characters with me are supposed to be my friends, but I certainly don't feel it. Which actually may be a better perspective to have.

As far as DA:O goes, there's only so many times you can do the deeproads and such before the tedium outweighs the absolute delight of the relationships you build with your companions. I was hoping DA:A would build on that. For me, it's not. I am glad other people are liking it. In a way, I'm disappointed, though, because if enough people are content with shallower relationships with the companions and such, it's something we may not see again.

So enough rant from me. I'm genuinely soured on the whole DA universe at this point. But loading up DA:O and talking to everyone there DOES help a little!

I don't see less immersion as a good thing...  I just really really hope awakenings was tio test out some different systems instead of an atempt to implament the new system.  DA:O is a bit obsession inspiring, but any work of art that tells a story should be if it's done well.  I just hope the developers don't loose sight of that.

I'm kind of happy I've really taken my sweet time with the game.  I'm not looking forward to the point at which I run out of new things to experience.  But there's always the fan creations untill a REAL expansion comes out, or a sequel.  *crosses fingers that it will live up to expectations*

Here's an update: I found the plot script for the letter with the toolset. The name of the file is: plt_cod_bks_zevran_letter.plo. It references the correct talkstrings that correspond to Zev's letter in the .tlk table.



I also found one for Leliana, though, so I'm not sure what that means. I guess, if anyone sees it/gets it, let us all know!
