Here's an update: I found the plot script for the letter with the toolset. The name of the file is: plt_cod_bks_zevran_letter.plo. It references the correct talkstrings that correspond to Zev's letter in the .tlk table.

I also found one for Leliana, though, so I'm not sure what that means. I guess, if anyone sees it/gets it, let us all know!

/fingers crossed!  Gah, hoping it's in there!  Even though mods are good, people on consoles deserve Zev luv too!

And Charsen . . . ummmm, screenshots or it didn't happen!

@ejoslin: I didn't see your post before, the one EccentricSage quoted, but the Deep Roads is exactly what I am reminded of. There, I can steel myself to say "ok troops, we've got a job to do, won't talk to you for a while but we can chat when we get back." Now there's no "getting back". Except I'm not sure I care that much anyway.

Looks like it really was cut, then.  Very strange.

Addai67 and ES, my comment about it being a better thing was ironic. It was more about the lack of immersion making me play less (which would be good for my husband -- hah), not that I really WANT less immersion.

Also Addai67, the deep roads without looking forward to the camp at the end is a great anology. As I slog through them as I play, I am looking forward to finishing up, getting to camp, talking, chatting, doing things I'm sure Wynne disapproves of.

*sigh* I am amazed at how little time I'm playing. I'm spending MUCH more time on the boards.

Walina, that's sad news indeed.

Haerja, you're SO innocent! (you're almost as evil as CZ!)

Gilded Age, I looked for a letter from non-King Alistair and there wasn't one either. I would imagine if there were letters from Zev and Lel, the Ali and Morri fans would just scream. Easier to leave them out. BUT!!!!! Wow, what a great letter. And if it can be modded in, it's just perfect. It's exactly what I thought would separate them anyway, but still.

*sigh* I wish they had references right at the beginning. It just would have worked well.  My theory, they tried, and couldn't get the bugs out perhaps and didn't want people screaming that they got the wrong letter.  Really, I'm more upset about Alistair and my political warden becoming a love-match.  All but one of my HNF playthroughs end up with that royal scandal.  *sigh* So I have to replay them from the landsmeet on!  If it's really worth going through awakenings more than once that is.  Most games, it's not too worth it.

Edit: of course.  Why use only a few words when I can add a wall of text instead.

Hey Everyone, did you miss me?

What do you mean NO!?:crying:

You a letter from Zev (maybe)...A LETTER!!! Gah....that sucks, I don't care how *squee* the letter is (haven't read it). How hard would it have been to make the following cutscene:

_____________________________________________________

*Tavern somewhere in Ferelden Warden and Zev exit*

*Messenger run up* "Commander! I have urgent new! Darkspawn"

Warden:   "Calm down, tell me what this is about."

Messenger: *Tie in to Awakening Intro*

Warden: "We cannot ignore this, we have recruited all we can, for now."

Zev: Nonsense, My dear Warden..."

Warden:- "But I cannot ignore this..."

Zev  "But rebuilding the Wardens is vital, no? Therefore I shall continue on and rejoin you as soon as I can."

Warden - "I don't know...are you su..."

*Insert squee-a-riffic kiss scene here*

Zev -  "Now go..."

Warden "Well...I...um...hurry back"

Zev *devilish chuckle* "As the Crow flies, Si Amore" (no doubt spelt wrong but meh)

*Warden and Messenger turn and walk way*

Zev *Said quietly as to himself* Be careful my love...

(Uh I just read it through and I think it horrible...but see what you think...)

*Edit* Because I can...

@morgothic It wouldn't have been difficult at all. And it wouldn't have cost much. There actually are recycled dialog bits they could have used as well for pretty much the same effect. Ah well.  I like your dialog though.  *sigh* I guess I just have to imagine that part :(

@Haerja ugh.  That sucks :(

The epilogue card does give a reason for his absence (a reason that won't surprise anyone in this thread, I think) and it makes sense, but it's still rather weird that it takes so long for Zev and the Warden to get together. It basically ignored the epilogue card from DA:O. I really liked the ending my PC got in Awakening, because it's exactly what I imagined them doing after the archdemon died. Just a pity the expansion doesn't really appear to tie in to the main game.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. Was there SUPPOSED to be a letter? Was it cut? Why on Thedas would they cut out a LETTER?

All my characters that are being imported are either Alistair's queen or lover, or going after Morrigan, but that makes no sense why they couldn't have a postcard from Zevran.

lol  So no fandom resuscitation needed then?  Good.  I was all "OMGS, WE'RE LOOSING HER!  ZEVRAN, INITIATE MOUTH-TO-MOUTH!"

Undutchable, thanks so much. I actually read the epilogue card because I am weak that way, and I agree. It's a better ending that the DA:O ones -- but totally different. Hopefully the letter can be put back in, because it's perfect.  But I'm glad to know that I didn't miss something major!

I broke down and read the letter. Spoilers ahoy.

It's very sweet, and not unexpected, but I'm not sure I would want to get it. I like to imagine Zevran in Gwaren. If he was where the letter says he is, my character would go with him. Ferelden could burn. Except... then Wynne would be *right*... Maker forfend! Ugh... ok, he's in Gwaren. If he's going "there,", my PC is not going to want to know until he's already gone and she can't do anything about it.

Well, with CZ's screencaping advice, I should have sexy Zev pics of my own to show you tonight!!! And I'm still chugging along with the fanart... tomorrow is payday, so yay! Will finally be able to ink. Then it's just a matter of reinstalling my scanner's driver... And you will have sexy art.

The thing a cut scene like that could easily be done for each Romance option, it give a reason why their not there which keeps fans happy, then they can get on with playing Awakening.

My copy hasn't been sent yet, although dispatch is said to be tomorrow , so it should be here next monday at the latest.

without gving any spoliers, what this "object click" thing people where talking about earlier? Do you need to click on stuff to open new dialouge or something?

Yeh, clicking on objects out and about (they're sparkly) will get you a cutscene type dialog.

Do you get dialogue response choices?  Are there any dialogue trees?

Wow...um..that sounds quite lame, tbh. Couldn't that have just done it Sten style with "I want to talk about something you said"...

I KNOW.  It's such a fab letter.  So very Zevran-y.  Leliana's letter is really cute too.  It's a shame that neither of them made it into the game, and weird considering there are a few left-over files.

I hear you 100% on all of this.  I'm with you on that theory, too.  The bugs and plot/relationship amnesia are just...immersion breakers.  EPIC immersion breakers.  When I realized that my dead Warden was magically brought back to life...  <_<

I don't know.  Maybe Awakening will grow on me, but I'm kind of disappointed in it right now.
