After reading the books I find Loghain's actions perfectly understandable. He cant stand the idea of Orlais being anywhere near Ferelden, he doesn't see the few Gray Wardens at Ostagar being that crucial to defeating what he isn't sure is a blight, and Cailan is an idiot. I really believe he thought he was "saving" the army from being wasted at Ostagar. That said, what he does is despicable, and I think he himself recognizes it because he ends up accepting his death easily enough if the Warden wins and wants to kill him. And if you let him live, he's pretty honorable there, too. Of course, this is from a human noble veiwpoint. I'm not sure an elf would feel the same way. A dwarf could---they're so used to political intrigue they might as well be from Chicago.

Yes, but he didn't try to rationalize his choices in the conversation, he told Amalia all the information she wanted, and decided against her better judgement to let him live. Besides, he's useful. Leske happily and willingingly jumped into Jarvia's bed to stay alive.

Yes, Zevran jumped into bed with all sorts of people and then killed them to stay alive.

It really is not a bad game. I just can't bring myself to really care too much about what happens. But I'll finish it, sure. I may even be fairly close! I'm not sure I'll play it a second time, however.

And, you know, I thought he actually looked a bit like his dad as well. (That nose!)  I suppose he and his sister must get their hair and eyes from their mother, though...

I don't want to derail this topic either but he is quite cute. I'm glad he didn't get his father's shifty looks and he has a voice that melts my soul.

*grins* I had the opposite problem -- my CE is a master archer.   I do love his story about the bow -- and how he immediately equips it when you give it to him (I love gifts that do that!).  There are times (at least in Origins) when I make use of multiple archers, though... as Zevran could attest. XD

I didn't really start having fun until I got Scattershot.  And, well, Arrow of Slaying, but yeah.   Scattershot into a mob, and then letting a DW rogue with Coup de Grace loose...

Nate's a beast in combat as a DW!  (My DE is a master archer, too.)  He still has the bow as a back-up, though.


(And can I just say: Oy, you all in this forum talk fast!  I'll read 3 pages and you'll have advanced 20!  Not to mention how far you've gone while I'm actually playing the game!  I finally just skipped ahead after that really fascinating discussion about anime/yaoi.)

I should emphasize that i don't mind having bisexual rogues, ever. it's just that i am saddened by the lack of any non-straights in other class roles. ah well.

I find Nathaniel very romanceable. Course I always did like guys with long, dark hair. AND he understands that his sister married for love. And considering how I killed his father he's being pretty nice to me. Of course, my heart remains with Zevran but if there's an option for Nathaniel in the next expansion I might save a character for him

Could be a rogue thing. I've been watching my friend play some more, and he promised me to play even more if I invite the two of them over for dinner tonight. Luckily they're both easy to please in the 'eating' department, so I'll whip up some spaghetti bolognese. I've got get some chianti, and then I can watch some more

Anyway, about the rogue thing, I listened to some banter between Nathaniel and Velanna, and he charmed her quite well. What is it with rogues and softening up prickly witches?
