I think after reading David Gaider's last response, there will never be another game with the type of dialog that there is in DA:O. It's too expensive, I guess. I wonder if they really lost money on DA:O. I somehow doubt it. Well, if further games go from epic like DA:O to good or very good, they'll make less, even with cheaper production. I guess it's a matter of finding that point, production vs sales. Understandable, but very sad nonetheless.
Read: Their dev team has been repurposed to develop the new MMO, and they no longer have the resources for a single-player experience at the same level as before the MMO was announced. Additionally, EA somehow managed to post a poor performance in the last fiscal quarter, despite ME2 and DAO going triple+ platinum. DLCs for DAO alone grossed over 1million. So, really, it comes back down to EA and the MMO, and that is a dose of killmenow reality.
dont you just love EA *castes virulent walking bomb on their CEO in the middle of a packed meeting*
here are some more pics...I would have posted some of the Sophia fight as well but the fight pretyt much went like this "virulent walking bomb boom boom boom zombies all die"

I won't play an MMO again. *sigh* I'm one of those people you read about and laugh at. I end up raiding for 8 hours a night, think somehow my worthiness as a person is tied to being the first on a server to get a particular piece of gear, and put pixels before my real life. That's what was really nice about DA:O. It does have an MMO feel to it, but it's not.
I've soured on them quite a bit but not for the same reasons. I'm totally getting the new FF Online game, but I'm sure it's going to be my last. They can't capture the camaraderie I had with the first FF Online game.

Great. Maybe they're hoping if they take their talent over there, they might actually make something of George Lucas' horrible writing. I'll never know. Even my husband, who will play games like that, says he would rather pay a lot more up front for a good game like DA:O.

whoever is in my fourth party slot the game doesnt register as being in my party during conversations and when the character tries to interject the game glitches
I just tried this with several different companions at redcliff including Zevran and they all glitched

theres somethign wrong when I find an INCOMPLETE Sequel more thought provoking and interesting better writtenand immersive than its predecessor and said Sequel got even better with the restoration mod installed that fixes some pretty damn big problems (like the final planet)

I would make the mod myself...if the toolset would work and I knew how to do it
I mean seriously that armor would look frakking hot on him but nope its limited to undead zombies

Which will be Pay-to-Play, which I will not....
oh wow. that's disappointing. reallly. I've given up MMOs to play this game. I find this community much nicer than the folks I gamed with in MMOs (well, not all of them lol but the community "in general").
I've been watching (at a distance) the development of KOTOR and the only reason why is because people who are gamer friends of mine have told me "you'll like this. they do GREAT STORIES".....
Now I'm not so sure...
I bought this game for the story and the writing. that's what I want to pay for. not yet another mmo. I could dust off any one of a dozen others I have if I want that experience again.

I will read sci-fi and watch the movies/TV shows, but haven't yet found a sci-fi game that interests me. Star Wars... bleh. Star Trek, ditto bleh. Babylon 5 had its moments as a TV series but I don't know as I would play the universe as a game. Why won't Orson Scott Card make a video game? I might actually play that.Charsen wrote...

In matters of squee, I downloaded your earring mod last night and have itchy mouse fingers to see if it works. After I gave up on Awakenings, however, I only had enough wakey-wakey in me to replay Sula confronting Taliesin and her and Zevran's first trip to the tent.

well. to be fair, i played it like what, 6-7 years ago? at the time i thought it was cool but i mean... that's like 1/4th of my life ago. i remember thinking the droid HK was a riot though. The sequel was so incomplete it was painful. but yeah, i dunno if i'd like it now. *shrug*Cuddlezarro wrote...

words do not describe how much better the mod makes the game expecially the ending which was such a hack job thanks to lukas arts pushing the game to be rushed out for christmas
not only does it make the game alot more complete(im not joking the mod restores alot of crap that was left out of the original) it fixes a crap ton of bugs as well

I had a ranger with a pet up alot. Only prob with ranger pet was that it despawns upon zoning so if you zone in to a battle you have to pause to recast pet or else go without.

I paid $65 for DA:O collectors edition. It was a bargain as far as I'm concerned. I paid $40 for Awakenings -- I paid $20 too much. I don't consider $100 too much for DA:O so I'm consoling myself that I wasn't ripped off, but I'm hoping that the bar really hasn't been lowered THIS much.
Very disappointing. At all levels. I will wait next time. DA:O was epic. DA:A -- well, the combat was improved.
SOOOOO! Now I can go back to falling in love with an antivan elf. And have some comfort knowing that they will stay together forever, "for a time" is just a temporary separation, and ummmm, maybe play awakenings again some time.

i'm working on an update for the zevring now to fix a tiny bug. hopefully that will be done soon. in the meantime most people haven't run into the bug yet and few will, but i want to get it fixed today since i put awakening on the shelf for a bit.
i haven't read any OSC... for a reason that's pretty obvious if you read his wiki. but, i happily enjoy Dune and Doctor Who among other sci-fi settings, though they would make awful MMOs imo. anarchy online was the one sci-fi mmo that i played that was pretty good (for its time, back in..2001).

@ CZ have you tried "repairing" the game ? Or are you using the mod to add dog to party and then also have a ranger pet ?

Combat tweaks fixes the "ranger pet dies upon zoning" glitch
also with mroe testing...I loaded the game and resummoned it and the cutscene fired as normal, if the thing is unsummoned the cutscene is fired up as normal and if I go to camp(and possibly just rezone in general) with it summoned the cutscene botches up
edit: ok I just have to unsummon the ranger pet when i go back to camp for whatever since camp seems to be the problem otherwise DIE GLITCH DIE

HOWEVER, that was not an issue with me -- I imported a character that had Alistair 100 hostile and Leliana dead.
I need to get back into DA:O as I found DA:A totally anti-squee! I know some people like it. And there are good things in it. But it's not DA:O. It's not even up to the kneecap of DA:O. I'm not even looking forward to DA2 now. At all.
*whine* *cry* *moan*. My kids would call me EMO! So I'll get back into Origins, later probably, and squee more. But seriously, I have no squee in me right now, so I probably shouldn't be on the boards.

I'm just reading ending spoilers at this point, because I don't care that much. I'll finish it and maybe bring Sula over, as well, just to have one Zevran-romanced character do it. We'll see. I totally agree with you on price point.
