argh, you guys are making me want to finish awakening to see if i get this mysterious epilogue slide.

So just played Awakening a little bit... I don't know what to think actually. There are some things;

- The conversation system is.. strange, takes some time to get used to

- Anders makes the same move when you select him in your team as Zevran (little squee)

- I imported my first rogue who's talents really suck, since I made her an accomplished rogue, her attacks are terrible

- The game gives me not as much 'thrill' as origins did, but there is a thrill

- Bregan's Bow sucks

 there are at least two other good bows in the game. i made Nate into a DW though, since i missed Zevran's jawesome dps... so i'm not sure how good the other 2 bows are.

Thanks for the info.

Right now it is not (yet) a problem, because my Warden has Falon'Din's Reach equipped. That one works pretty well.



The thing with Awakening is that it doesn't feel like a story, but more like a lot of side quests glued together. Don't know, so far the game doesn't 'capture' me.

Awakenings: it's not awful, but it isn't DA:O quality. They didn't put the same story resources into it and it really shows.



I'm still having fun. My Orlesian is ridiculously wimpy as compared to the mage and rogue that I imported. My mage imported naked with a sign across her head stating that her tattoo (that she never had) was invalid. I decided to just run my naked, unarmed, elf-mage across the countryside and see how long it takes for the fact that she is in her undies to be a problem. It's not like the underwear covers much less than mage robes do.



I'm not encouraged about future expacs, DLC or sequels in the franchise. It's sad. I loved KOTOR. SWTOR looks like it will be good (and playable as single player for the most part), but I'm irritated that they are stealing resources from such a successful game to make SWTOR. I may just have to go mod happy instead. Zevran never grows old

I just got Awakenings today (a day early), so I'm catching up. In my bag, amongst all the poisons, I found a silver bar, Dalish gloves and a crow dagger. I'm going to carry one around as my character doesn't have his actual earring .



I'm really scared I don't get the Zevran epilogue now that I know that there is one.

Oh, I hope I didn't worry people! My main concern was MY character because I had another in love with Alistair (ick). I've not heard of people NOT getting the epilogue (eeep, double negative, but all know what I mean).

sami jo pretty much sums up my feelings. I'm very worried about DA2 now. BUT! DA:O STILL is amazing and awesome and I'm hoping they do with it what they're doing with DA:O -- put out a fabulous game and then try to milk it for all it's worth.

I actually feel pretty bad for the writers right now. I'm sure they really like the characters they created and EA just tightened the belt and cracked the whip and they had to make do with far less than what they really needed to make a stellar game. *sigh* It wouldn't be the first time EA did some destroying

Edit: Has anyone else finished DA:A?  There's something in there that I really want to talk about with someone, but I do NOT want to spoiler the game at all.  But it's bugging me and I want to RANT!!!  RAWR!~

I must say, so far I really love Anders, he is one big filrt... reminds me of someone.

Talking about DA2, there is no reason why Zev wouldn't be there, he is an elf so he should be able to get quite old. *wishful thinking*

@ejoslin: I know. I'm tired of whining. I'm glad that Gaider responded several times and that the OP of "that thread" is not getting the last word. I came home from work yesterday and told my husband "I yelled at David Gaider today and he answered back." Husband gapes. LOL

The thing is, I feel like I'm yelling at EA on behalf of Gaider and others, though that probably wasn't clear. It's a compliment to the characters and to his specifically that we're so passionate about this. I mean, it's his writing that got me the most in the original and it's just frustrating to want to click on Nathaniel and Anders but they got nothin' for me.  I'm yelling at my screen, "I know you've got a story in you, damn you, spill your guts!!"  LOL

Anyway, you get it. I'm preaching to the choir here. I'm still enjoying Awakenings for what it is, and am trying to console myself by thinking I got more than my money's worth for the original so overpaying for the expansion is karmic. Maybe they even planned it that way- that would be my suspicion.

I'm still very anti-squee at the moment. Squee will come back after my kids go to bed and I go and finish the deep roads. Someone's going to get engaged tonight . . . Or at least hear about a final mission.

THAT is what I'm hoping, and I hope they do that for DA2 as well.  My fear is that they'll think, OH, we can get $40 for this much $$, so that's the new budget!  Rather than, ok, we'll take a small loss on this epic thing so we can milk it for all it's worth!  I feel what I paid for DAO and DAA combined is worth it for DAO alone.

But... I have a new appreciation for even Wynne's depth.  And since it's been a few days since I've had a really touching seen with Zevran, I'm actually looking forward to it!  I'm at a good place in the story to get my squee on!

Edit: Gaider's comments about budgets has me really worried. I like that he is no longer sticking with 'It's broken and needs to be fixed," which obviously is silly since DAO was so successful -- but in some ways its worse.  If it's monetary, then there really will be changes for the worse!  Though hopefully they do come up with something.

Second edit: The OP of that one post is one of the few I've "yelled" at publicly for posting REALLY bad information.  He makes things up and passes it off as fact!  Irritating.

 CZ, I NEEDED that!  Ok, squee time!  Zevran really STILL is the sex!    Gah, so sweet.  I think about how when you first start talking to him, he doest trust you, is cold and closed, and yet... you can still start breaking through the icy surface at the very beginning.  And how grateful he is to the warden.  I'm still squeeing over the line:

Zevran: You've been a good friend to me, and more.  More than I deserve.

I know he'll say a line close to that to a friend, but it's later, and has a slightly different feeling.  If he adores you he'll tell you this.  *sigh*

I changed a line in the Zevran wiki, the one that says the relationship turns into an actual romance later in the game.  I think the original author of the wiki never romanced him!  I also changed the "romantic" line listed in the romance section last week from the deadly sex goddess (the other romance partners had their sweetest lines listed and he had THAT one) to the "By your side I'd willingly storm the gates of the dark city.  Do not doubt it."  I was torn between that one and the one where you leave him behind, "In truth, for the chance to be by your side, I'd storm the dark city itself. Never doubt it."  That's actually sweeter, but sad.  I like happy Zevran best!

That romance needs better press for sure!

Ok, I'm squeeing again!  Took some work to kick out the grump but I prefer to squee anyway!

I believe that in rtO you can find good gloves...

those gloves give rapid aim...and unless rapid aim stacks having them would be redundent since Farsong comes with it

My archer does happily wear Wade's Superior, but probably more because I'm lazy than anything else. ;D  There's a pair of archer's gloves, though, I have them and forget what they're called. >_<

I guess gloves that give high critical would be ideal...
