Yes and with her party conversation with Alistair, you can find out that she had a baby boy which was taken away at birth by the chantry. So when romancing Alistair, there is the added element that she says you're going to hurt him, and it seems apparent to me she is looking at Alistair as a figure of her son and is trying to be (over)protective of him.ejoslin wrote...

Heh, I don't think this is in any way Zevran-specific, but I just got the stern talking-to from Wynne about love vs. responsibility. I hate that talk! Most of the PC's answer choices seem petulant and/or confrontational. Sooo not my PC :/
The conversation with Wynne always struck me more as Wynne resenting the PC as when faced with a similar choice when she was younger, she had to give up whomever it was (this is just hinted at if you ask her what she could possibly know of love).

I got the impression that she disapproved more of Zevran than Alistair because she disapproves of Zevran so much, as if you're letting down the Gray Wardens by being involved with him. She never initiated a conversation about being wrong about it either. My PC had to ask her if she changed her mind.
My city elf was furious at her.

But with Zevran the whole Wynne dialogue is SO worth it for the bit about the tenderness in his gaze towards the PC. *nice sigh*

Good catch -- you're right, Wynne does seem to look on Alistair as a son. Wynne got bitten hard by love I guess in her past. It takes some time for her to start accepting the PC as a person as opposed to a gray warden -- it's nice that she does change, though.

BTW I finished my Zevran-romance game this weekend and played a couple different scenarios at the gate. Leaving him there... aagh, no, will never do that. Especially if you tell him "I love you." Gah!
I was really happy that at the final battle bit where I was slaying the archdemon, that it was Zevran and Alistair they showed. In all my previous games it was Alistair + Wynne or Morrigan. I take it that the game picks Alistair (as warden watching his fellow warden do their duty) plus the party member with whom the PC has highest approval?
Are there any mods to add in more Italian words? Because that would be one I might try.I kept waiting for him to call my PC "cara." I also started visualizing with him dark hair thanks to you fine folks and your mods. It is sexier, I have to admit.

Right, I could see that. I'm just dreaming.ejoslin wrote...
I'd be afraid of voice mods -- they never sound right!

Oh, I also played the bit where I went back to Ruck's cave with Zevran and Oghren, and between the two of them they force a mercy killing. I find Ruck to be possibly the saddest of the NPC stories you encounter, so it was wrenching. I imagine she and Zevran had a talk later on in camp about how the taint is in her, too, how she felt some kinship with Ruck. And about the fact that, supposing the Crows don't get them first, he might have to help her end it someday, too.
About the Dalish: Yes, I cried actual tears at that part!! And with Ruck, the fact that he calls her "pretty lady" and "good friend" and then screams at her for being treacherous made it all the more terrible.Sabriana wrote...
Agreed. I felt so bad for Ruck and his mother. When Ruck tells my PC that he can see the darkness in her, I felt really weirded out and had her say that 'this is a scary thought.' Which is true, in her mind she was looking at her future, and if she didn't die fighting during the next 30 years, that's what she'll become unless she goes to the Deep Roads, heeding the Calling.
Zevran taking over and my PC having no choice but to let it happen was a great touch. He was right, she knows it in her heart, but it hurt, oh how it hurt to see Ruck die. Ruck's path lead nowhere but down into a horrible death, and she was staring in the face of her future. It would indeed have been a great touch to let her talk to Zevran about it later.
Ruck is one of the saddest NPC's in the game (I'm counting in the Dalish Origin, where another NPC makes me feel really sad). Speaking of that NPC, my dalish origin is still to be played, but I saw the scene with that NPC somewhere (YouTube, or somesuch), and it made me feel very, very sad.
I thought Zevran seemed out of character, so I quit reading it.AnniLau wrote...

I actually found myself wondering if she was capable of giving informed consent.AnniLau wrote...
The author took some liberties, I suppose, but I didn't find them all that farfetched...and the PC character is just funny.

I guess it's just not my cup of tea. Some people love Earl Grey, I don't like it. Orange pekoe FTW.

I got to the point last night where Zevran asked to come to my tent...his "Do you see me laughing" and "Then why are we still talking" make me so weak at the knees.
I also got to hear about his final mission, and at the start of it, when I say something about, "You were MORE cocky and arrogant?" he just has this weak/defeated laugh that I never noticed before. Like he knows he needs to crack a joke, but that you're past the wall now and things are much more tender/much less funny. I stayed away from any lighthearted comments after that. Just the complexity that is conveyed in the tone of voice is incredible. Kudos to the voice acting it kind of caught me off guard. Love this game!

I went to his web page and I've probably heard him many times on TV in ads and not realized it. He seems very flexible too, which I guess is required for a voice actor even more than for a TV actor. He does both but seems to be primarily a voice actor.ejoslin wrote...

Ha, yes, realizing "Zevran" was doing all those Dodge truck ads is quite hilarious. Doesn't seem like the same person, eh? Which is credit to the voice actor.Creature 1 wrote...

I'm playing a male, evil (okay, as evil as the game will let me be), ugly, dwarf commoner, berzerker/reaver and Zevran took it like the **** he is after I did nothing more than hand him a pair of boots. I didn't even adventure with him until level 13-14 after I had to put Leliana out of her mystery in front of the Urn of Sacred Ashes (bagged her too which is probably a bit unrealistic).
Since there is no benefit to not romancing him, I had my character do it just to get the increased favor and associated dexterity benfits. Were I really willing to sacrifice combat potential for RP, I would kick him out of the tent and camp right after finishing up with him, but the game doesn't give you that option. Nor does it allow me to kill him while he sleeps.
While I love this game, I think Bioware could do some simple things to make the game feel a bit more free by leveraging some of the methods that Bethesda used in Fallout 3. Basically, give the ability to a lot more things, but have consequences... in Fallout 3, only the main quest line was preserved so that noobs couldn't do something to prevent themselves from "completing" the game. Everything else was wide open... finish a quest and then execute the quest-giver? No problem... Nuke an entire city and lose the ability to use the shops and finish the quests given there? No problem... Bed someone and then shoot them in the face? Well, there was no sex in the game, but had there been, one certainly would have been able to end the relationship, the hardest way, immediately after.
Anyway, Zevran is a bisexual ****. If you are into that, then I guess he is appealing. My character bed him for a combat bonus and the only other rogue alternative was dead or Zevran would be sleeping with the fishes.
