I'm not surprised by Zevran's very jaded commentary, but I do agree the approval and disapproval set for it are a bit over the top and OOC. Morrigan disapproving of leaving him like that is even more bazzar than Zevran's for cutting him down from there. Jeebus.

I'm not too happy about that epilogue. I'm happy with the location (it's where I was planning on going anyway), but not with either of the options. I suppose that both options are 'rumors', not necessarily what would actually happen.

I agree, EccentricSage, that an Antivan adventure could work well for Zevran-haters too. I think it would work particularly well if you had romanced him and then split up with him, and he's your enemy. That would be interesting (although not something I could bear to do). I think Zevran could make a great enemy.

Taking over the Crows? I did think of that, but I don't see it. Zevran disapproves of their recruitment and retention policy. I don't see him wanting to take over an organisation which runs on child abuse and slavery. Happily in love Zevran certainly wouldn't.

Zevran isn't really ambitious anyway.  He's the opposite of power-hungry.   He dedicates himself to being the 'sidekick' and supporting you. He doesn't show any signs of wanting to be in charge. I don't think he'd be driven to take over the Crows through ambition. Maybe the warden wants to take them over and he supports her/him, but the warden is likely to have the same opinions on the slavery aspect as Zevran.

ETA: Reform the Crows, maybe, if such a thing was possible and we were given enough back-story to explain why the warden and Zevran would want to run an assassination organisation.

If there were such future content, I think I would have to make a character his enemy JUST to admire what a totally kick ass villain he'd make, and given the chance, I'd reconcile, of course, because yeah... it would be hard to 'follow through' if you like Zev. I'm sure he'd still be a sympathetic villain, too, of course, since he's kind of in a tough spot himself.



Also, if someone killed Zevran the first chance they got, then that would mean no Talisen encounter, right? That could tie in instead upon going to Antiva. Though none of us would like the prospect of playing a file where we kill Zevran *shudders to think of it*, it would be interesting to find out more about Talisen. He cared about Zev enough to risk his life to get him to come back to Antiva, so one could imagine a bit of a vengence plot perhaps, and on the Crow's home turf, though of course the Crows wouldn't know Talisen's motivation. To them it would look like he's after the Warden for being a survivor of a Crow attack and perhaps for meddling in Antiva... Oh the posabilities.





And of course, for Zevran friended, Zevran romanced, or Zevran set free on good terms, there could be a lot of fun choices and further character development. :3

Well, we didn't get all that far last night (Awakening), because we constantly paused and chatted.

Yeah, it was that immersive. /sarcasm

I am completely underwhelmed. There is no way I'm buying this until it drops significantly in price. That epilogue card is horrid.
I was bummed out that I wouldn't see it on my friend's play-through, now I'm glad. I felt empty after watching more of the play-through, and fired up DA:O after getting home. My mage isn't far into the romance, but she turned both romances on (Alistair & Zevran). They're both at ~ 50+, and let me tell you, it makes their banter sound far, far different, compared to Alistair being friendly and Zevran being at adore/love.

Whee, 400+ pages and 10,000+ posts. We rock.

Just so Awakening isn't a total gut-punch because romances weren't as acknowledged as we'd like them to be, here's an article to keep some of the squee alive. It's basically about bioware considering a romance DLC. No doubt the massive Tali-mance and Garrus-love threads that flourished in Mass Effect forums for years (along with Zevran and Alistair fan threads) have contributed to this being given a second look.

Thank you Gilsa. A glimmer of hope. Although I won't get my hope up too high, my believe in BioWare's uniqueness has been severely dashed with the DLC and the Awakening chapter.

No, I'm not calling it an expansion any longer. It expands on nothing, and even screws with the wonderful, epic, dearly beloved DA:O story-line.

 I looked at the epilogue card. It's... well, weird, but I wouldn't call it horrid. At least it's vague and leaves a lot to imagination, which, in this case, is a good thing.

I'm buying Awakening today, but after reading your opinions, I'm not so excited about it anymore Oh well, at least I won't be dissapointed. Who knows, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised after all. If not, I'll be glad to join in the ranting

yes - i am really trying to pack in some nice squee moves with this next mod! this thread is my primary target audience so i think of you guys when i am picking out these dialogue options. "Hmm, I bet Ejoslin would like that," or "what would Xander/Alessar do?".... so we'll see if i can actually pull this off though. i made a ton of progress today though, i'm really pleased. i only wish i had an extra week of spring break. =/

anyways, Gilsa, cool link. I was following that in the ME board too and hopefully something will happen with it. i mean, it's not unexpected for them to do so - the Tali thread grows nearly a post per minute, after all, and the comics with Liara sold out at my comic book store anyway. I would rather pay for a DLC that fleshes out original characters in either game than one that introduces new ones. 

.....With the exception of Shale. Shale was the best DLC ever and I love her to bits. <3 But she had a lot of interaction with the other PCs, unlike, say, Zaeed.

it's interesting that they mentioned "take leliana on a date" as a DLC. is she a very popular romance option? i would have thought they would go for a pre-king alistair. but maybe they will go for a bit of everyone. let's hope!

I'm going to try another go at Awakenings on my (yuk) warrior and then, I was thinking about going back to my mage but I might give Awakenings a go as an Orlesian Warden. I have a feeling that if the import feature were unavailable and this was more of a stand alone campaign that we (we being the Zevran fans) would like it a lot more. Because I know I'm not alone (going by previous posts) in going through the "expansion" thinking, "What would Zevran say here?" "What would he make of X situation?" or "Wow, a little advice wouldn't be misplaced here, wish Zevran was here to give it to me."

Edit: And yes, Shale is awesome and yes, Leliana is popular. I have three other friends who (still) play Origins, and we're a diverse bunch, one romances Leli, one Morrigan, one Alistair and well, I obviously picked the best one <3.

I do think the epilogue card is horrid. It has nothing to do with the Zevran endings in any of my games, and also nothing with the way I role-played my PC and Zevran. It is all already developed, I invested a lot of emotions and feelings into my PC/Zevran romances, and that card screws with them.

I agree, it's all individual RPing, individual views, emotions, and character development, but it makes my resolve to dive into the toolset more fully even harder. Perhaps there is a way to change that card for myself - and in a way that I like it and connects to my games.

I find it sad that I avoided all spoilers to the point of not even going to any boards for DA:O, but for the Awakening Chapter, I'm actually looking for spoilers wherever I can.

Ya, I can mostly ignore the arms... until they're crossed. Then they're just too obviously disproportionate since they stick out in weird ways

But I still like my dwarf... she's mostly cute.

Ok, I just read it again and it felt worse. I can see one or two of my characters getting it, but I can also think of LOTS of instances where it'd be so wrong. Especially for a human noble who made certain choices at the end of DAO (not to get spoilerish).
Romance DLC would be great, but I'm not getting my hopes up. However, even if Bioware doesn't do it, I'm sure fans will, eventually. VO might be the biggest problem for such a big mod, but I could even live without it, if it meant more Zevran sqeee-ness. I wouldn't mind going shopping with Leliana either
