Sannox, you must HATE me, but I have to correct you a bit (sorry).  Zevran disapproves -3 and gets nasty for each Alistair kiss ONLY if you started the romance with him.  Otherwise, he laughs about it and tells you he's seen it a few times and won't gawk.

Edit: Leliana is the same way.  She thinks it's cute if you're not in a romance with her, but gets jealous and disapproves -3 if you are.  And sometimes it's surprising.

So kiss with Zevran.  There really is nothing to indicate he disapproves.  You probably got ninja romanced by him.  His romance starter lines are SO hot, it's easy to let them slide!

Second edit: The way to tell if Zevran is jealous, aside from the nasty tone when he says, "Don't mind me," is that Alistair won't kiss you.  When Zevran is a friend, all is good and everyone is happy.

On a side note, my CEM is a perfect example of a character who had *no* romance at all with Zevran and still got to 100 approval on friendly. I didn't even need to give Zev two of the "non plot gifts" he particularly likes to get there; my CEM was just nice to him, and that's all it took.



I've seen posts from people in other threads who claim Zevran is shallow and/or sex-obsessed and the only way to get 100 with him is to engage in romance. Totally false, in my experience with Darkien. What you *can't* do is lead him on in any way by flirting or acknowleging when he flirts with the PC and then not follow through. This is what I discovered with the RP personality of my CEM, b/c he was *completely* naieve. Leliana basically had to drag him to her tent before he caught the hint ("I'm going to go write in my journal" - I admit laughing my behind off at that response even as I selected it; one of the best parts of the L romance for me), so things like Zevan commenting about a "handsome Grey Warden" were far too subtle for his sheltered little self to grasp as being flirting.



I know I preaching to the choir in this forum, but Zevran is very obtainable as a friend-only, if he's treated properly and not "led on" by the PC. Just thought I'd put this perspective out for discussion since it seems we usually focus on his romance side, rather than the "friend route". Someone else probably posted about this elsewhere in the 400+ pages, but I'm new and thought this was an interesting side of Zevran as a character, particualrly after romancing him.

willikat, don't worry about making points someone has already made. Hah, we wouldn't have 405 pages if we didn't go over every detail about him over and over! Addai67 often keeps him as a friend; we love her input too! A lot of guys like him as a friend as well, for the same reasons. He's a great advisor, right hand man, loyal to a friend to a fault.

So in Awakening I was talking to Wynne and that old cow almost gave me a heart attack. I just couldn't stop laughing when she started talking about 'gardening'. x"D

Right, Ive been playing DA:A for a bit and although I am not far at all (just recuited a certain rogue) and I don't know it hasn't grabbed me like Orgin's does. I'm not sure I like the new convosation method at all it feels very impersonal, click object *cutsecene*, where as I use think "You know I fancy talking to X".

Not sure I like the Arling idea thus far, Gray Warden's are ment to fight darkspawn not rule (the Anderfels are a different matter, where the people look for the GW to rule). A GWC concern should be the Darkspawn not running an Arling IMHO. The idea in a way seems pretty stupid, after all the GW have rebelled once before and where only defeated due to numbers (and then only just, according to The Calling) would you risk it (if it was an imported Warden then I could see it I suppose...)?

Oh and I felt "The Prisoner's" recuitment was just plain badly done...

Not sure I like the Arling idea thus far, Gray Warden's are ment to fight darkspawn not rule (the Anderfels are a different matter, where the people look for the GW to rule). A GWC concern should be the Darkspawn not running an Arling IMHO. The idea in a way seems pretty stupid, after all the GW have rebelled once before and where only defeated due to numbers (and then only just, according to The Calling) would you risk it (if it was an imported Warden then I could see it I suppose...)?

yet in Origins you can have a grey warden KING and no matter what ending you pick the Arling of Amaranthine is granted to the grey wardens at the end of the game so you cant exactly rant on awakenings for coming up with that

Yes, I can...I can rant about anything...I tell you...ANYTHING!.

Anyway I'm not ranting at Awakening about it, I was just saying I though the idea maybe a bit iffy, but we shall see, remember I did say I've barely played any of it.

Oh and as for Alister he's no longer a GW, sure he will have to take The Calling in 30 odd years, but he will never advance in the Wardens, will never be told any of their secrets beyond those he knows already. His "Career" in the GW ended the moment he chose to be King.

Here's a Zevran question. I'm thinking about his facial expression in the final part of the tent scene. I've seen it with an elf female and dwarf female (the dwarf gets a little smile). It's kind of a wide-eyed look. I compare it to the final bit in Alistair's tent scene, where he's watching the Warden sleeping. Alistair's expression is goofy-happy, but with Zevran it looks to me like it's somewhere between being amazed and being frightened. It's like he realizes, gazing at her, that he's caught. What say you?

I'm probably reading too much into it, but I figure this crowd doesn't mind such offenses.

Thanks!  I couldn't remember for sure if he actually lost approval.   It threw me particularly because it WAS early on (although I can't remember exactly when), and there clearly was no jealousy and no 'relationship'.

Then when I played through, it turned out that he wasn't jealous at any other point.  My mage even kept sleeping with Morrigan right up until the end (well, he was going to have to do the dark ritual anyway, so ....) and Zevran still wasn't jealous (he had the 'doing the grey warden' conversation with Morrigan).  I have wondered if he was jealous and didn't know it, but I don't think so.   There's no sign of it.   It's one of his appealing characteristics.  (And my character would not have been sleeping with Morrigan or anybody if he thought it would bother Zevran at all).  That' (along with him not having the option to kiss in public)  was why I thought it must be an issue of decorum rather than jealousy.  If he's happy with sex and kissing between you and another companion in private, then it must be the publicness of the kiss that he objects to rather than the kissing itself.   Or so I thought. 

It does seem at odds with the character.   Maybe it was just for balance, if Leliana does it too.    I'm going to have to play it again and see if I can find an interpretaion that fits with my view of him.
