This is supposed to trigger if Alistair's romance is turned on:

Alistair: Do you mind if I ask you a personal question?

Zevran: You may ask, but I may choose not to answer.

Alistair: Fair enough. Have you... had very many women in your time? I mean... you seem like the sort of man who  would... (awkward question)

Zevran: I have indulged from time to time, perhaps, when my interest is not elsewhere. (amused)

Alistair: Right. Well, how do you...  woo them? Is there a... technique? Or... (he says "woo" because he's too polite to say "have sex", very awkward at asking this)

Zevran: "Woo them?" Are you quite serious? (incredulous)

Alistair: Er... yes? I don't know what else to call it. (embarassed)

Zevran: So let me get this straight. You have... never wooed? Not once? You are woo-less, as it were? (his amusement grows with each saying of the word "woo")

Alistair: All right. Bad idea. Never mind.  (grumpy)

Personally, I think it says a lot about Zevran. He  really is clueless about romancing anyone. He has never "wooed" anyone,  and when he tries it, he's completely lost.

As a Sims player, I feel like replacing "woo" with "woohoo"!

Aw, that's rather sweet. I can see why they cut it, though. It shows a level of trust that I don't see Alistair showing Zevran... maybe ever. It seems more IC for Alistair to be asking the female party members for romance advice.

Ejoslin, thanks so much for the city gates mod. I've downloaded but I think I've put it in the wrong place, as it's not working yet. I'm a bit dim about these things. Some of the original options there are really strange and unpleasant when you're in love. I can't remember which one I picked the first time round but it was horrible. I reloaded. Which is kind of cheating, but every so often I choose a dialogue option, and the character's reaction shows that it meant something completely different from what I thought it meant. The gates are definitely one of these occasions, and in fact, most options aren't that great. The option where you tell him for the first time that you love him is particularly awful and upsetting. I'm really looking forward to getting your mod up and running, kisses or not.

When I was having another look at that scene, I was really surprised how upset Morrigan was. She seemed to be ready to cry at some of the options and was dropping hints that she wanted me to look for her (so I do understand players who want to track her down). I talked to her afterwards, and she was really upset, clearly feeling a lot for my character, and acting like she was in love or somewhere near. She wasn't - she was still at 60 something approval. I wonder if that's another glitch. Or just possibly, that Morrigan, like Zevran, actually starts to fall in love earlier than she can admit. One day, I'll have to play that romance through and see if the conversation is different at the end.

Sannox, if you have a version of DT older than .93 OR the Dialog Alistair Patch installed, it probably won't work. The extracted files need to be in the dragon age origins/packages/core/override directory.

Edit: Just to add, Gilded Age is working on getting the kiss working as well.  When she does, I will add it to mine.  Oh, I uploaded a new version of mine (no kiss) that fixes the bug of the dialog cutting off at Alistair if he's hostile and in your party when after the archdemon (it used to cut off right in the middle of his dialog, ending it completely, so no Zevran there).

This is the 'what are your intentions' banter:

Alistair: So let me ask you something. What are your intentions with her? (challenging)

Zevran: You speak of her as if she is not present. She is just right over there, you know... (nonplussed)

Alistair: Don't dodge the question. I'm serious.

Zevran: Mmm. Do I detect a bit of jealousy there? Feeling territorial, are we? (amused. This line occurs when the Alistair romance is turned on.)

Zevran: Is this brotherly concern I detect? Or something else? Perhaps you are concerned for me, yes? (amused. This is the alternate line, when the Alistair romance is not turned on)

Alistair
: I am just asking what your intentions are. You did try to kill us all, remember? (growled)

Zevran: And now I owe her a blood debt, as she has spared my life. It has brought us... closer together. (amused)

Alistair
: Is that a smirk? Are you smirking at me? (growling)

Zevran: I assure you, ser, that I am not smirking. No smirking here, no. (he is totally smirking)

Alistair: Well, just... watch yourself, then. I'll be keeping an eye on you. (over the top protective brother)

Creature, woohoo? What?

Cuddlezarro, I have a really bad technical problem that I'm not sure can be overcome. I can't edit actions into lines, and it's really for a stupid graphical reason. At least, I think that's the problem. Maybe I'm just too airheaded to figure this out. I am getting MAJOR help on the one I'm working on now, though I have released it into the wild.

Hehe, Sabriana, is that a femPC dialogue only? (the "intentions" one?) It would be amusing if there was also a malePC version... but I'm guessing there isn't ;)

To be fair, saying the word 'woo' is pretty fun, so I'm with the directors on this one. I've seen the "intentions" dialogue before, wasn't a fan simply because it's m/f only although I guess I can understand Alistair not wanting to talk about m/m (because we all know he's only a stone's throw away from admitting he'd like it).

Edit: Yes, Jenovan - for female PCs only. WHATever.

There isn't, Jenovan. I'm guessing it's because those are "Alistair" banters, and he's as straight as a plank.

For CZ. Could I ever refuse you anything?

Alistair: The stories we hear down here about the Crows... they're not true, are they? They all sound a little far-fetched. (dubious)

Zevran: I cannot say. What have you heard? In Antiva, we hear that Fereldan men cannot sleep without a dog in their bed. Is that true?

Alistair: A dog? No, of course not. We value our dogs, it's part of our history.

Zevran: Oh. Perhaps it was simply a reference to your Fereldan women, then? (amused)

Alistair: *Laughs* Well, now that you mention it... (laughing)

Zevran: But those stories you heard? All true. (wink-wink, nudge-nudge)

Alistair: Really. Even the ones that talk about how you all... you know... get paid to... (shocked)

Zevran: Especially those ones. (said with a big grin)

Alistair: Wow. I am totally in the wrong order. (flabbergasted)

This conversation is so utterly OOC for both men, it's no wonder they left it out.
Addai, about the advice banter, I can see Zevran and Alistair becoming friends, and Zevran is someone that Alistair knows has experience. Especially given the "friendly advice" Zevran dishes out to a romanced Alistair about stamina and such.

I don't think it's so bad, but no doubt the ueber-feminist contingent would be up in arms (that doesn't take much).

As for Zevran's "friendly advice" banter, I see that as Zevran being slyly devilish and analogous to Alistair's "I've seen you fight and you're not very good" banter.  Depending on which one you get first, I interpret the other one as a bit of revenge.  They do lower their defenses a bit by the end of their conversations, but I see their prickly competitveness as a running thing and just cannot see Alistair asking Zevran for romance advice.  Although he does tell your Warden that one reason he delayed asking her to the tent was because he was worried about technique.

It's misogyny for the sake of misogyny, really, and since neither men are ever presented as being anywhere close to misogynistic, I would say that it is pretty tone deaf. I would expect it from Oghren, but not Alistair or Zevran.

Yes, he might just think that asking an experienced seducer might be a good idea, Addai. Alistair tends to be a bit naive at times. No, I'm not dissing him, but he did grow up very sheltered.

Anyway, here's the tattoo talk. They are two different conversations. Here's the first part:

Alistair: So those... designs you have all over your back...

Zevran
: They're called tattoos. And I have them in many more places than just on my back, my friend. (saucy)
Alistair: Err... right. I hear that someone gets those by having needles put the ink under your skin? (creeped out by the idea)

Zevran
: A great many needles, amongst other things. Yes, that would be true.

Alistair
: Didn't that hurt?

Zevran
: Ohhh, yes, yes. But it is not so bad, in truth. If you like, I could give you one. I learned a bit of the art myself in Antiva.

Alistair
: Oh, no. No, I don't think so. (shuddering with disgust)

Zevran
: Come, it will just be a small one. Perhaps the symbol of the Grey Wardens? Something manly! Where are my needles? (suddenly excited)

Alistair
: Um... maybe some other time. I'm... I'm going to go stand over here, now. (uncomfortable)

Second Tattoo Conversation

Alistair
: I've been thinking about those ink drawings, what did you call them? Tattoos? Are you... still willing to do one? (uncertain)

Zevran
: Oh-ho! You've decided to take the plunge, have you? What is a little pain, am I right? (delighted)

Alistair
: I'm not worried about that. I think they look interesting, though I'd want mine... smaller. When can you do it? (very unsure)

Zevran
: Not so fast, my friend. There is an entire ritual to how this is done, do you not know? First I need to bathe you in a mixture of olives and rosewater. (he is playing with Alistair)

Alistair
: You need to... bathe me? That seems... odd. (unsettled)

Zevran
: No, no, no, not at all. It needs to be worked into your skin, preparing it to receive the ink. The massage is quite pleasurable, do not worry. You are in good hands. (play it up, he's totally teasing)

Alistair
: The... massage? You're... having me on, aren't you? (eyes wide, has no idea what to say to this)

Zevran
: I might be. I might not be. Shall I describe the rest of the ritual to you? (amused, playful)

Alistair
: Hmm. No. No, on second thought I'll just pass. (creeped out)

Zevran
: *Laughs* Excellent choice! (laughing)

I have version 93a installed, and no Alistair patch.  I did put the mod in that directory but made another folder for it.  Maybe I somehow didn't download it properly.   It's 383 kb - is that too small (I have no idea!).   I'll start from the beginning again!

No, that's the proper size of the compressed file. Hmmmm. I'll test having it in its own folder to see if that's a problem. I have DT running. What other mods do you have?

Edit: No, it works fine in its own directory.  The size of my files are 2.33 MB.  Did you extract the files?  They do need to be extracted.

Second edit; Ok, you didn't extract the files.  You need to use winrar to extract them.  It's shareware.  Or, hmmm, should I make a ZIP file?  I'm not sure I even have winzip is the problem.

Third edit: I tried, but it won't let me upload uncompressed files.  Message me and I'll see if I can send them to you uncompressed via rapid share or something.

Almost done, phew.

How the Antivan ruler is selected:

Alistair: So what do you have to say about me becoming king? I suppose you don't care? (a bit hostile)

Zevran
: No, no, I think it is quite marvelous. A most unusual way to pick a king, however. (amused)

Alistair
: Unusual? I guess it was a bit... unorthodox, even by our standards. Why? How does a king get picked in Antiva?

Zevran
: Oh, he or she is elected, of course. Provided they make it to the election without being first assassinated.

Alistair
: Yes, from what you said that seems to happen a lot there. Makes me wonder why anyone would even want to be king. (dubious about the notion)

Zevran
: It is considered a very brave and impressive thing to attempt to become king of Antiva. Sometimes nobody steps forward at all, sadly.

Alistair
: And what happens then?

Zevran
: Why, we start assassinating those who we think should run until someone does. Never let it be said that the Crows are not patriots. (he's joking -- but not by much)

The last one. The cost of hiring the Crows:

Alistair: As a Crow, you were an assassin in Antiva, right? Professionally?

Zevran
: Technically speaking, I still am. Somewhat between jobs, as it turns out. (chuckling at his twist of the phrase)

Alistair
: So how much did you charge to... you know... kill someone? Was it very expensive? Did it depend on who they were?

Zevran
: Such curiosity. Are you thinking of having someone murdered, my friend Alistair? Or are you considering a career change? (intrigued)

Alistair
: No, neither. It just seems odd to me that you could make a living doing that. Or that you would need an entire guild just to handle so many... jobs. (disturbed)

Zevran
: Ahhh. Assassination in Antiva is a tradition. It is more efficient than an election, as we say. "Politics and death go together like kisses and love-making."
Zevran: It costs a great deal depending on how experienced the Crow is... and how difficult the target is to kill. You? I would charge perhaps five thousand andris for you.

Alistair[/b]: Five thousand andris? Is that a lot? (a bit awed)

Zevran
: Mmm, not really, no. (said with a shrug)

Snipedty snipe.

I think I have finally found something about the Xbox version that is better than the PC version- some of those banters trigger on the Xbox. I got the protective Allistair banter with my FCE (friend version), and with my first silly mage took the Allistair romance REALLY slow, the Allistair asking Zev for advice banter triggered. She got the rose after the third main quest. Allistair had asked just about everyone for advice by then.

How come all first mages are silly? Are they all related somehow? Mine was very silly as well, but she got the better deal in the end. I'm still not sure she deserved it though :)

Well, at least the console players do get some love from the game. I still wouldn't trade my PC game for it though (especially because the only console we have is the Wii) :D

Edited because this thread makes me do that a lot.

Thanks, Jenovan. I agree, those banters are great. Except the 'dog' one, I do agree with SurelyForth there. It would be IC for Oghren, but neither Alistair nor Zevran come across as such crude men. I always thought that Alistair and Zevran will become friends over the course of the quest, and those are banters that would occur between friends. Even if some are a bit snippy, but hey, friends are sometimes playfully insulting one another, right?

Edited again, because my cat ate the "t" right off my key-board. Bad kitty, bad, bad kitty-cat.

Sannox, it WILL get better. Gilded Age is putting in the kisses, and has told me she will let me use her work there, which will make it even THAT much better. But it's so nice having that dialog. Even though he still can't say the words :( Though his tone of voice... omg.
