Well, at least the console players do get some love from the game. I still wouldn't trade my PC game for it though (especially because the only console we have is the Wii) :)

I think it comes from being locked up in a Tower during their formative years.  Not much experience with the larger world and different types of people in it.

I also wonder about lyrium exposure. You hear about it in regards to templars, but mages obviously get a lot of exposure, too.

Yeah, okay. I'll buy that, but only because it's you who says it, Creature. Thank goodness my subsequent mage is smarter. I wonder why. Is she psychic somehow? I can't believe the first one absolutely valued and adored Wynne. She even agreed that the tower was "home". *shudders*

Well, at least my first had the good sense to be totally creeped out by Cullen. That's something at least. Still, I can't believe she was so brainwashed, especially after talking to the door-guard templar who told her to try the window. Silly, silly mage. She even ratted out Jowan and Lily. Yes, I know, Jowan lied, but the prospect of becoming tranquil is horrifying. My soon to be BM has no such silly ideas. She hates the tower, she hates the chantry, and she hates Wynne. She dumped Alistair for Zevran right off the bat, because she saw the writing on the wall (unlike the silly one). Good girl. I like her.

Yeah.  I have my mage's backstory worked out and it makes me very sad.  The Circle was definitely not home to her- she was torn from her mother's arms screaming.  Goes back to Highever after the Blight, only to find that her family was killed in the massacre, otherwise she might have been able to return to them.  Image IPB  Zevran really is all that she has.

Yeah, I agree. I also think that Alistair and Zevran do become friends. I mean, Zevran, whether romanced or befriended does prove his loyalty. Alistair might have been sheltered, but he's not stupid. He would have realized that Zevran was sincere, plus, he does call him "Zev" when /if the PC breaks up with him for Zevran's sake.

About the lyrium, I also have doubts. At first I thought that because mages generate mana naturally they are immune to it, but the tranquil state that they are the only ones who can work with it because their connection to magic and the fade is severed. I'm still trying to work this all out.

Sannox, it WILL get better. Gilded Age is putting in the kisses, and has told me she will let me use her work there, which will make it even THAT much better. But it's so nice having that dialog. Even though he still can't say the words :( Though his tone of voice... omg.

It's working now and it's fantastic even without the kisses.  Thank you so much for doing it.

I know the 'bad' options are still there if you leave him behind, but I never do leave him behind.   And if I ever do happen to have him as a friend, I won't mind if I get the love options either :).

I think it's sad that people can go through the whole beautiful romance and then get an inappropriate response right before the final battle.  The mod makes it SO much better.   It's a huge change.

I about fell off my chair this morning when I saw those.  And yes, those options are still the same if you leave him behind, but if Gilded Age is able to put the kisses in (and this is VERY difficult because of the way the scenes are set up unfortunately, which may be why they were left out), that would also take some of the sting out of those.

I am so glad they work for you!

Yes it is. I agree with everything you wrote, Sannox.

Thank you so much, Ejoslin. Thank goodness I had my amazon #1 save right before the battle. Of course, now you'll have to listen to people whine and plead with you for "putting Zevran things back in". Sorry about that, but at least it will take some pressure off Charsen.

Edited because this thread makes me do that a lot.

Thanks, Jenovan. I agree, those banters are great. Except the 'dog' one, I do agree with SurelyForth there. It would be IC for Oghren, but neither Alistair nor Zevran come across as such crude men. I always thought that Alistair and Zevran will become friends over the course of the quest, and those are banters that would occur between friends. Even if some are a bit snippy, but hey, friends are sometimes playfully insulting one another, right?

Edited again, because my cat ate the "t" right off my key-board. Bad kitty, bad, bad kitty-cat.

That particular silly elf-mage got dumped by Allistair and ended up just friends with Zev who was *suppose* to go rebuild the Wardens with her.  She is the one I ran through Awakenings buck nekkid with a sign saying her non-existant tattoo wasn't valid.  According to her epilogue, not only is she not rebuilding the Wardens with Zev, but she has been abandoned by everyone and has disappeared amidst rumors that she is an abomination. Maybe all those folks did notice that she was naked and had a bright red sign on her forhead.

Am I the only one who sees Zev and Allistair as having a bit of an alpha-male competition going, particularly if the PC is female; or perhaps more of an almost sibling like rivalry with a male PC?  Zev clearly loves to needle Allistair (who wouldn't, the boy practically paints "tease me" on his forehead).  It reminds me of the dynamic between my husband and his younger brother.  I can't imagine that everyone in the group would come to respect and trust one another at least to some extent.  They must depend on each other for their very survival.

Good to know my cat isn't the only one who eats keyboards.  He also steals bones from our (large) dog and naps in the bathroom sink, but only when there is water in it.

Charsen is FAR better than I am.  He can deal with cutscenes.  I'm more than happy to just put stuff back in that belongs there, though!  I think I know what the problem is with the gate dialogs, but I have no clue how to do the real fix.  Mine is a bit of a kludge, but at least it WORKS.

And yes, if he's at friendly, you still get the same dialog you got before.  So no ninja love at friendly from him!

No, you are not the only one, Sami Jo. I do think that with all the eventual friendship and camaraderie, they still have that little snipety snipe going at times.

Good grief about that mage of yours. Mine was silly, but not as unlucky as yours. Oh wow, I feel sorry for her.

My cat can top your cat though. Last Sunday he up and fell into the toilet. Yep, you read that right, he slid off and his hind-quarters landed in the bowl. Of course, being a cat he totally acted like it was nothing. He looked bored and arrogant walking off into the kitchen, but I could bet in his mind he said "F*cking meow".

@ejoslin: :wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

One more main quest for my first PC playthrough and then Landsmeet and battle and squeeage!  :D

My inexperience little mage-boy had the "licking the pole" talk with Allistair last night.  It was absolutely comical for him to be acting all experienced after having completely bungled asking Zev to the tent repeatedly, getting all bashful at the massage offer and only managing to haul Zev off to the tent after the poem.  It was worth torturing him to hear how amused Zev was when he told my mage that he knew where Zev slept if he changed his mind and commented on how he seemed to have heard this offer before when the poor mage would try to proposition him again.

I just downloaded ejosling mod about the gate dialogue. I certainly have missed a lot in the previous pages, but the mod somehow really surprised me. I've never see those dialogue options, with any characters, and Zevran's responses were different too -- all this come from the toolset, right? Can someone post a list of all the significant changes?

Aside from this, WONDERFUL WORK ejoslin! Kudos! :)

Yes that's exactly how I see things, as well.  Well, all except the respect and trust between my elf mage and Wynne- that actually eroded the longer Wynne was in her party.

It's not a kludge that anyone will notice, I promise.  The only thing it does, or doesn't do, actually, is fix the fact that you still get the "warm" dialog at friendly.  Well, that, and it won't work with other mods that work with that same file.  But they won't work with MINE either!

And thank you so much, AndreaDraco.  They are all from the toolset.  There is a bugged piece of dialog that kept those from triggering.  What you were getting is what you were supposed to get at Friendly when taking him with you.  What you get at Friendly is the same as Warm.  I can't fix that (I'm sure it's fixable, just not by ME).  The love dialog is completely different, as you see.

Do you want to see both versions of that?  WITH VO comments of course?

I had one that used to lift the lid to the toilet and climb in to cool off during the summer.  She dyed herself blue once.  She would also join me in the tub unless I locked her out of the room.  I had to put child locks on the toilets to keep her out.  The current feline trouble-maker is a large fuzzy orange ball of trouble.  He is like a toddler, right down to the adorable cuddlies when he is caught doing something truly evil.

My first character, MDE, had fully romanced everyone he could before landing permanently with Zev.  The Lelianna conversation after you break up with her (if you break up before getting involved with another character) when she calls you on being interested in Zev as a male character is really funny. (It's something to the effect of, "That explains why things didn't seem quite right between us.")  The mage was my second character and I wanted to play through as a monogamous female with Allistair, since it was the only relationship I hadn't seen yet.  She was a total goody-two-shoes, adored Wynne, would have done anything for Allistair.  She wasn't a happy clam when he dumped her but she was duty-bound enough herself to understand it.  The epilogue in my head has her getting involved with Zev eventually as he helps her rebuild the Wardens.  I'm pretending that the entire experience in Awakenings was a bad dream...a weird transfer from my Orlesian Warden.  That would explain the naked part.  :P

Is that a question?!  LOL  So, just so that I understand... this mod will not affect the gate dialogue for PCs who have Zevran at warm/friend, correct?  It just resets the Love dialogue to what it should have been all along?

Crikey, but for you brave souls and your toolsets, we never would have known what we didn't know.

Yes.  Now, I haven't tested it at 100 friendly, but it should react the same way it does at 82 friendly.  In fact, would you mind testing it at 100 friendly for me?  *grin*  Really, I didn't change anything that should change what you were getting at "friendly" to begin with so you should still get that.  You will only get the "love" dialog at love.

*sigh* I see another "fix" which is a kludge.  Take out the "my friend." line.  Alpha 1.2 is coming up soon.

My current, utterly un-suave male elf mage just finished the Tower last night and is already irritated by her sanctimonious crap.  I wanted to ask her why she wasn't at the meeting if she was so upset by Uldred.  Irving's opinion of her couldn't be all that high if he didn't even invite her to the meeting about the concerns she had raised but had Niall, the one who wanted to move to a deserted island, there.  I may reload to initially side with the Templars, kill Wynne, and get Zev's amazing plea for the mages just to get rid of her.  It would be a bit ooc for him, but he won't be able to smack her when she gets snarky about his relationship with Zev (which should be pretty much their first conversation), and that would be his response right now.  This mage is innocent, not spineless.

I'm taking a look at your mod now using the toolset, and I'm completely stumped on how you did it, nothing makes any sense to me. I can I be an absolute pain and ask how you did? A guide or something would be wonderful.

p.s Only if its no trouble, if you don't want to I don't mind.

What I did was such a kludge I don't want to give a guide to it.  I had to move some dialog actually because of a bugged flag.  The flag can probably be fixed, but I don't know how.  I'm changing one more bit, the part where you can call him "my friend" when leaving him behind because it also has the bugged flag in it.  It should NOT be there for "love".  However, this one I'll just change it to a non-bugged flag, and it shouldn't make a difference.  It will just never show.
