I wouldn't be surprised if there have been one or two Templars found dead at the foot of the stairs after accidentally falling and breaking their neck--although really they died from getting slammed into a wall by a glyph of repulsion.

One can only hope that the mages would do that in self-defense. But I do know that Wynne (any mage actually) gets wiped right quick by the templars during the circle quest if I as the player fail to keep an eye on her. They do have defenses against magic, which, strangely enough, doesn't count as actual magic by chantry doctrine. Because it can't be used against the general population. Great excuse. The chantry is really good at making up excuses. Imo magic is magic no matter against whom it can or can't be used.



Ejoslin, I'd ditch the Alistair fix for your mod anytime. Not that this is a big surprise, but after seeing your fix in my game, I simply won't ever play without it again.

You're mage is going well? Mine is busy killing darkspawn in the Deep Roads, first quest after Redcliff so it is sometimes difficult to stay alive. Thank God for the 'take dog with you' mod, so I have 5 strong characters. I'm not able to kill the Revenant unfortunately, for some reason he gets mad at my mage if I try crushing prison on him... very strange.

So I'm looking for new good ones, I have the Zevring, Zevasap and I will look into ejoslin's mod. Besides those I have a few others, but I was just wondering which mods give extra 'value' to the game.



@CZ, you were talking a few pages back about the 'skip the fade' mod, is that a mod that skips the fade completely or do you still have to do the Nightmares and Boss fight?

The skip the fade mod takes you to your nightmare with Duncan, then when you activate the pedestal, it sends you to your companions nightmares, then after the nightmares are done, you head to the sloth demon.

Well, Dialog Tweaks is excellent -- you may have that already.

Advanced Tactics is great, and works with Awakenings, too.  It adds a lot more complex conditions for setting up your tactics.  Version 3.0b is a bit buggy, though -- or, it has one big and major bug -- it creates weird "invisible objects" which will keep you from leaving rooms.  (For the record, I've only had this happen twice.) There's a way to fix it when that happens, but it's a bit complicated.

Circles Be Gone is awesome if you like to take screenshots. ;D  It gets rid of the colored circles under everyone's feet, and honestly, I don't miss them at all.

@jenovan, I have the 'circles be vague' mod installed, otherwise I'm not very good at positioning my rogues for backstabbing. Thanks for the tactic mods idea, I've heard some of you talk about it so it must be good.

My DAO playtime is not very much the next couple of days, for some reason my sister has decided that I have to keep up with her with a new game. She's totally fan of the new nintendo DS pokémon game SoulSilver, but she demands I play HeartGold, so we can exchange those pixel beasties at some point. x.x'

No, not in game afaik, but I can imagine that the chantry would see this as a good excuse to look the other way if the templars do force themselves on a mage. Rapists always enjoy the act, it gives them feelings of power and superiority. I've yet to counsel one who dislikes destroying his victim.

Hi Ramante. Yes, my mage is doing fine. As for mods, I know one really good one messes up the dog is always with you mod. Advanced Tactics is incompatible with the 'dog' mod, unfortunately.

Jayelet, I can try, but I warn you, I am new at this and don't speak Spanish! Also, both Alistair and Zevran are supposed to kiss the Warden there (interesting that Leliana and Morrigan are not), but the way it's set up, it would be very difficult to put a kiss in. Gilded Age is trying, but it has to be done manually.

Heh, yeah she is Fuzzy. I wish I had developed her as a SH/BM though. The AW seems a bit useless. Ah well, more reason to play through yet again. I agree on the "I don't care if you are a blood mage" attitude. She wouldn't rat Jowan out for nothing. I wish she had the choice to also destroy her own phylactery too.

AW is a bit useless if you don't plan on having your character a tank etc.  The good part about this combination is that you have options if mana is low, and SH drains a lot of mana.  Also, I just prefer being able to wear armor.  I hate mage robes with a passion.  Oghren has a great banter with Anders in Awakening about having to wear skirts (Anders' riposte is that it allows for quick trysts ).

It sounds like our backstories are similar.  My mage also told Morrigan that she loved her mother.  I have her as having been discovered when she was molested by some human servants in Highever Castle.  She burned one of the men and they beat her so badly she nearly died.  Her nose has a little crook in it- from my fits about creating a nose in character creation- so I RP that it is an old scar from having her nose broken.  By the time she recovered she was being held in isolation by the templars.  The castle servant who brought her her meals told her that her family didn't want her anymore because she was a mage- trying to do her a kindness, as she saw it.  But Elissa Cousland, who was her childhood playmate, overheard the templars talking about when and where they planned to sneak her out of the castle, and told her (my PC's) family.  Her father couldn't bear to come, but her mother had to try to see her again before they took her away.  Thus my mage found out that her parents really did still love her, but she had to be dragged screaming from her mother's arms by the templars.

Suffice to say, she did not see the Circle as home.  Then she goes back to Highever after the Blight with Alistair and Zevran, both to memorialize Duncan and try to find her family, only to learn that her parents had died in the massacre.  She has a lot of anger in her, too, and it is Zevran who keeps her grounded and helps her accept these things- or else it might go badly with such a powerful mage.  Certainly she doesn't expect her status as Hero of Ferelden to last long, since she's not only a mage but elven as well.  There are times when I imagine she wonders why she bothered saving the world.

I doubt the Chantry would sanction sexual behavior even as a control mechanism, at least officially.  But that doesn't mean it doesn't go on.  In The Calling, Fiona talks about being taken from sexual slavery in an Orlesian nobleman's house (*wouldn't Leliana be interested to hear*) to the Tower and finding out that it was "not much different."  She nevertheless saw the Circle as a chance at freedom, and the Grey Wardens even more so.  It's quite a fix when you have to take the darkspawn taint and an early death just to gain some measure of control over your life.

also WHY is Xander holding the sword upside down? I think the curved edge should be pointing upwards not downwards

I tried installing the toolset yesterday, and it totally buggered up my game.

Had to uninstall the game, all components, and the toolset.

Trying to reinstall the game...at least THIS time I moved my character save files so I don't lose all my characters....



My computer and game didn't like the toolset. I have no clue what I did wrong. Heck. I wasn't even able to open anything in toolset to modify it. (never was able to find any of the dialogue...just the programing screens)



No wonder I didn't finish a computer programing degree....

I REALLY hope this reinstalls properly.



Interesting, didn't know there was supposed to be an Alistair kiss at the gates either.

So the Zev mod doesn't work with the Alistair patch, but does work with the DT?

Good to know.
