Seriously Zevran has some of the best voice scripts in game.

Edited because that's standard procedure here. In my fiddle play-throughs, I have the same party. Nathaniel, Sigrun, Anders, and my PC is the tank. Sadly, I do not like Justice and I never liked Oghren tanking. Unfortunately, the only good tank in Awakenings bites the dust early on.
I ended up doing Justice (so we had two people with one foot in the Fade all the time, which makes for funny cut scenes), Anders, and Nathaniel pretty much everywhere. Oghren and Velanna annoyed me, and while I enjoyed Sigrun, she couldn't pick a lock to save her life.
Did anyone else dislike Ser Pounce-a-Lot? I liked Anders a lot more before the cat....

My Awakening party was Nathaniel, Anders and Velana/Justice. I decided to go magic overkill most of the times tanking with my AW in stormchasers armor, good times.
I can't bring myself to take Oghren, uh. His only bright moment was when I gave him his gift... that was funny, but otherwise I can't stand him.
Next time I get Justice earlier and let him tank through whole game.
Edit: and btw I am uber lame, I missed the Andres kitten first time, so no Pauncelot ...

I can't seem to warm up to Justice for some reason, Tellervo. Maybe because I got him last. I did that because I watched a play-through were the player picked Sigrun up last, and never managed to get her into the GW. I figured that because Kristoff was already one in life, Justice didn't need to join up again.

I've only played Awakenings once, and I kept changing the companions in an attempt to pick up all their quests (sigh). For the final battle, I ended with Oghren with his twohander, Anders and Nathaniel (and my mage). No tank with a shield, but that worked fine.
I think I'm leaning towards choosing companions I want with me, rather than a balanced group.
@ Tellervo Ser Pounce-a-Lot's name annoyed me! It was obviously based on Sir Lancelot, but why would Anders have heard of Lancelot?

I got Justice first and Velanna last. I couldn't make Velanna join up. I know there is a way to do it, but it seems silly to me (and I'd avoided spoilers, so didn't know at the time). There seemed to be plenty of time for me to wander about finishing off side quests, but no time for Velanna to gulp down a bit of darkspawn blood. It made no sense to me.
I liked Justice well enough, but had to get rid of him once I'd done his quest so that I could take the other companions out for theirs.

That carefully thought out then?
I wonder if the mispronounciation of Mhairi was just a mistake, as well. Somebody saw the name written down, thought it would be a nice name to use and just guessed at the pronounciation.
(Although I suppose it is difficult to use real world names, and not occasionally inappropriately reference something from the 'real world').

That's my group in Awakening as well. Sigrun kicks so much butt, but I don't know what I'll do with my rogue and mage characters. I'll have to bring either Justice or Oghren and I just really don't want to.
I was so angry when I first heard about Nathaniel Howe though, because my son's name is Nathaniel. Luckily, he turned out to be an awesome character, so I won't have to write Bioware a hate letter.

Blood Wound, my friend. Blood Wound. Make the templars' fears about Anders a reality and let him have at it.Sabriana wrote...
What I hate about Awakening is that fights with the 'children' is just one "overwhelm" after another. My friend lets me play around with his game, bless his heart. Thank goodness we're neighbors, so I can nip back and forth.
I don't really like it, because my PC would be so distraught and angry, and she and Zevran have a lot of trust. But what if cold feet play a part? It's too much to expect that Zevran is going to turn into Dr. Phil overnight. The relationship is bound to be rocky. My other gripe is that I can't warm up to the new NPCs. Not even Oghren, who is new because I can't import my saves (obviously). The only one I like so far is Howe, which is strange given that most of my PCs are HNF. I wouldn't import any of mine anyways, not with the shabby treatment of Zevran. I still hate the epilogue card with a passion, and I refuse to put myself and my PC through that. I know, I read the posts here about how it could be RP'd, but I just can't do it, it's far too different from the Zevran ending my PCs have been role-played into.
Howe is my favorite, too. I missed my old party members a lot at first and I still don't like the dialogue system as it is, but you do get used to a different level of interaction. Just go back to the Keep often (save first since sometimes going inside the Keep forces you into a plot point) and look for arrows.
Helm of Honnleath, though it is just like the Grey Warden helmets you can buy at Soldier's Peak. I imagine they also have GW helmets in Awakening. And what helmet is your PC wearing, Addai? I've not seen them.

Yeah, but I SUCK at building characters. With warriors, you just give them a good sword and some heavy armor and everyone else just helps out/keeps the tank alive. By the end of most of my games, Alistair (or my female tanks) can solo most mobs.

She's not a cunning rogue. Her str is really high for a rogue, though it means she can wear the heavier armor. Nate is my lockpicker now that I've got my mage over. Just have Sigrun tank for you, if you feel the need for a tank. Legionnaire Scout makes a rogue very durable. And she kicks ass.Tellervo wrote...

I find it difficult, but as I imported a character, I felt I had to think of some reason why Zevran wasn't there (that would also fit with the epilogue, which I'd seen). At the end of Origins, it's still early in the relationship. They are only just admitting what they feel for each other, and even after the archdemon I don't imagine long talks about feelings. So I think there is still room for misunderstanding and doubt (for my PCs), even though I wasn't seeing it at the end of Origins.
It did make Awakenings darker and gloomier, and some of the quest stories were dark and gloomy anyway. Plenty of doubts and misunderstandings there too, and love not managing to win through in the end. My character didn't look triumphant at the end - he looked exhausted.

I was glad that my HNF was able to tell Alistair "you know I didn't want to return to the Wardens." That was exactly what she was feeling. He answers "well I know it."
Is that when you meet him at the beginning of Awakening? I don't remember seeing that.

"So we face the archdemon together. Just as it should be." Yes, a thousand times yes. They would face foes together, that's as it should be. I appreciate the suggestions about RPing an import who loves Zevran, and I'm so very glad that it works out for most people, it just doesn't with me. I guess I have to live with that, lol.
So an Orlesian Warden it is. Tbh, I would also hate to play an import who suddenly has 0 approval with Oghren. All my PCs (except for my male, who hasn't met him yet), had a high standing with Oghren. But within a few month he suddenly goes zero on them? I think not. It also seems like there is little cohesion between Oghren Origins and Oghren Awakenings in regards to time spent together. My friend imported his dwarf, and as I was watching, I kept waiting for some reference to the Origin, at least to the archdemon. Gimme something, darnit!
But no, the only reference is "he'll go Zevran on you." Say what? As far as Oghren knows, Zevran was defeated at his assassination attempt, fought valiantly for and with my friend's PC, and ended up a good friend with his dwarf (no romance). It was really strange. Oghren had such potential as the broken beyond repair anti-hero, and he ended up as a stereo-type - in the dwarf department and in the psych disorder department.
"Leave the warriiors at home" Really? Why, Addai, I'm so shocked! Next thing I know you'll be telling us that rogues rock, rofl.

However, it just seemed to me that the only way to play the game without discounting the relationship was to find a way for it to fit. The 'missing letter' gave me the idea that Zevran must have had to leave and had tried to send word but it hadn't got through. That and realising that they would have loved each other just as much if my character had left him in camp - that the bond wasn't about always being in each other's presence.
Maybe the problem for me was that 'for a time' that I got at at the end of Origins. If I didn't play through Awakenings with a PC in love with Zevran, I'd be left with wondering what parted them. Bad as the Awakenings epilogue card was in various ways, it does give a kind of 'ever after' ending that was missing in Origins.
I agree that it makes no sense for Oghren to lose approval. With the PC I was playing, Oghren had been with him since he'd picked him up. They were great friends. There was no reason why he would lose approval. He'd also seemed to end up friends with Zevran, and he would have asked about him, surely? I didn't get the 'He'll go Zevran on you' line, thankfully, because that would have needed some explanation. Does everybody get it in the right circumstances, if they didn't kill Zevran?

I agree, the way you see it would be the best way to play an import who is in love with Zevran, and he with her. A surprise ambush that made it clear to him that he absolutely must deal with the Crows, and right now, before they put him, and most importantly his warden, into grave danger.
You get the line about "going Zevran" when you first let Howe go and then meet him later on. He is still recruitable then, and if the PC agrees, Oghren springs that line.
