It makes me think of Yuffie in FF7, but it's just a bit more serious when it's Zevran. Yuffie was only 14, and cute, which makes a difference!

On a different note, I had a criticism about my faq, and she may have a point, so I wanted to ask everyone here -- are my first couple of points condescending? I tried to write it lightly, not insultingly, but I hate to think that I'm putting people off or coming across as rude. Does anyone have an opinion? If it needs changing, I have no problems at all with that!

Eww, Yuffie. :P  But yeah, she was a thief, not an assassin.  It was difficult to take her seriously; not so with Zevran, especially given the cutscene with Loghain and Howe.

Hmm, I saw that... I think that your points do reflect plenty of comments we see (although honestly -- I hardly EVER see anyone make point #2! Ha!), but maybe you could write something to that effect in the introduction?  That those first few points reflect common opinions/misconceptions about Zevran?

Oh lordy, Darkannex. You really seem to have the worst of luck with DA. If anyone deserves a smooth ride from here on in it's you.

True, Ejoslin. The moment you are able to please everyone is the moment I'll ask you to my office for a quick "how to"  :)

Edited because I just only now noticed that avatar-Jenovan's eyes are glowing. Should I be afraid?

Ooooh, thank you all so much. I changed the introduction, and hopefully that will avoid upsetting people in the future.

Edit: @Kaioku, thank you!  I'm so glad you're enjoying it.  And yes, that line of Alistair's bugged me for a long time.  Zevran also may say something to the effect, "try to kill a woman twice, and she gets all icy on you."  Both those line were vexing!

Looks good, ejoslin! :3

@Sabriana, hehehe... :devil:
Nah, I give all of my elves really bright eyes :)  Mara just happens to have a particularly evil smirk and particularly green eyes. :innocent:  I can't tear myself away from Awakenings long enough to play with her more -- she's still in Ostagar! -- but she and Zevran will have fun being DW rogues together. XD

@ejoslin: Honestly, I always thought I must've missed some sort of link between the crows and that event in the tavern in Lothering (for example), where you meet Leliana and get the chance to have the Commander deliver a message to Loghain. :D

I always pick "He'll have to do better than that.", and this is the line my PC imagines lead to her ending up meeting Zevran... err. Yeah. Drifting off a little here.

Well, despite the fact that they're clearly Loghain's men and not crows, and I've been through that conversation more times than I care to count, I still believed there had to have been SOMETHING I missed. Odd. Well, glad that's all cleared up now. Really, thank you for that. :3

Also, I wondered a whole lot about Oghren's infamous "go Zevran on you" line in Awakening. I mean, what is he trying to say, exactly? The only way that makes sense is assuming that he turned on me in Denerim, and I really hate that. It makes me uncomfortable, since the game also decided a couple of other things for me I clearly did not choose. So many possible Origins endings, sure they cannot take them all into account, yes, but... argh.

So Oghren disapproves of Nate, comparing him to Zevran. If the lovely drunk dwarf were a romance option, at least I could assume jealousy. But this way... hm. I don't know. It's just frustrating, all over.

Oh, and one more thing: Someone somewhere about thirty pages back said something like: "He loves her but can't say the words, it's sweet..." or something like that. *g*

What I really want to get off my chest is:

Ever watched Queer as Folk? It's not as cute when Brian Kinney does it. :D

It's not really evil, but scary in the "just wait until I get to you" smirk, Jenovan. Those are Pineappletree's aren't they? I haven't really had the guts to try them, because I wasn't sure how they look in-game, but your avatar.... oh well. One more reason to play *another* play-through.

I am enjoying my BM though. I didn't think I would, thank goodness for being able to use the ranger summoned. It's funny seeing Zevran waving his arms and stuffeth, it made me giggle.

Blood-wound is awesome, but I'm still learning. My PC and her trusty gang of misfits were at the werewolves, and she threw the blood wound at the skeletons. Of course, it didn't work. No blood, no blood wound. I swear, sometimes I'm more dense than London fog.

You're welcome.  It confused me as well!  I'm glad I found it.

The Oghren line bugs me too.  Especially since it is so difficult to get him to turn on you.  It makes me VERY nervous about any future expansion.  Because another thing that could have happened is if something happened AFTER the blight and all that lead to Zevran betraying the warden and going back to Antiva.  It would explain the epilogue AND the letter being pulled.

OK I need some serious help. I might have hit a bug at the LS that completely undermined all the choices and things I did before the LS.

I had talked to Anora and set it up so that she would marry Alistair. Of course she turns on me in the LS. WTF

I had everyone else's approval except for the one guy who always sides with Loghain, and surprisingly one other lord. I think I hit a bad option though when confronting Logain so that is probably my fault. Now I have the grand melee.

So what, did I set Al up with Anora for nothing? Does she always turn on you?

The whole DLC/Awakening treatment of Zevran has me worried and upset. Because it comes with an approval drop, I think they simply assume that Zevran betrayed the warden during the Taliesen encounter. As far as Oghren knows, Zevran is the PCs lover, her trusted friend, her protector and a loyal ally. That goes for all my PCs (except for my male dalish, who hasn't even met Oghren yet, but is on the 'friend' track with Zevran).

I never watched "Queer as Folk" it's not running over here. I only know what it is because I googled after reading your post. Google is my friend
Actually, there are quite a few US shows that I enjoyed while over there. It's a bummer that they have all these rules and restrictions and laws and whatnot against receiveing those on your computer.

No, but she will turn on you if you tell her you're going to kill Loghain (or that justice must be done, or whatever).

I think my PCs so far would be more likely to betray Zevran than he would be to betray them.

I can't remember what I chose to tell her, it was before I went on the cruise with the character I am using. Oh well, I've never had the grand melee before, might as well enjoy it.

I totally agree here, and my characters would NOT.  It's just a suspicion, though.  So much does point towards something happening in Antiva next, and the only people who would be happy about a loving reunion would be Zevran fans.  They've already disregarded the ending where Zevran stays and rebuilds the grey wardens (as a lover and as a friend).  What's actually odd about that is Zevran I believe was the only character who got a non-romanced-friendship epilogue card in Origins when the warden stayed alive.

People who hated Zevran would scream that he's still alive.  So who knows.

Sabri- and yet here I am still! <3

Awakening was just nightmarish though. I had wrong imported choices, lost gear, lost quests, had mystery approval ratings, and just generally spent the whole time wondering what would break next. Not a good way to play a game. Where was Zev offering a massage when you needed him? :(

The storyline did not grip me, and while I liked the idea of the characters, I never really felt like I knew them. I played it off as my Warden having to be all leadership material and such, but it was a lonely feeling. I got spoiled with DA:O in feeling invested in the people I brought with me.

I always have it, a bloodbath seems to suit the general tone of Ferelden politics.

oghren *does*  say in origins to please keep it down in a banter with Zevran~ , and of coarse the old cow complains about it as well

the only odd one out is the annoying frnech girl who probably thought we was doing normal non buttsecks things in xanders tent

Unfortunately, Oghren doesn't say that to the femWarden, so it sounds very odd to the female Warden in Awakening, especially if she romanced Zevran.

I swear, if they pop out with any kind of DLC that has Zevran ditching, or turning on the PC, I'm done. DA:O will be a stand-alone, with beginning, middle and a satisfying conclusion. Saves me money as well.

Well, Oghren does grumble about the femwarden and Zevran. But I'm with you, Sabriana. I have no interest in an expansion that changes the most loyal companion you have to anything but. I'm seriously HOPING I'm wrong. It's all just guesswork. It actually could be made to work both ways. You're going after the crows (for an obvious reason from the end of awakenings) and when you catch up with Zevran it's either positive or negative. But he would most likely be a cameo, not an adventurer.

OR I could be completely off base. Remember, I do have blonde roots!

Me too, that's why I
tried to take it that way at first.
In the end reality caught up with me though... *sighs*
and then all those Antivan items. You already discussed those here, I know, I've been lurking for almost a month now (<--creep!) - but I NEVER could have imagined just how many there were. WTF? Not only armor and weapons but gifts and the Antivan poison quest - this is just too much.

@Sabriana: Well, where I'm from QaF only ran for about one season before being cancelled, that didn't stop me from watching it. It was a really, really great show in my opinion, but the fact that until mid-last-season that stud idiot could not bring himself to speak those three little words after being through SO freaking much with his partner, it was just ridiculous. So when it comes to Zev, as sweet and understandable his awkwardness when it comes to love and romance may be, I believe my PC would just sic one of her recruits on him to get him to slip eventually.

Well, when I think about it, an expansion in Antiva could have possibilities for both Zevran lovers and haters as long as Zevran is a cameo at the end.  But if that DOES happen, I'll wait on buying it.

But it would actually be more likely that they're just working on DA2 at this point, which would probably be a completely different story with a new warden.
